I used to climb a maple tree
When I was young
And from a certain branch
I'd sometimes catch a glimpse
Of her
Running in the sun
With her sisters
Laughing and having fun
And I thought there could never be a finer sight on earth

In the summer time by the waterfalls
All the kids would swim
But whenever I got near
I always had the fear
That she
Didn't really care
But her eyes would sometimes speak
As she tried to make me see
That that special look was only meant for me

Every Sunday morning
When we went to church
I used to watch her from the side
Her profile filled with pride
An angel
And when she sang
I held my breath
And hung on every word
There could never be a sweeter voice on earth

But her family moved away
And it left me reeling
The years flew by
One at a time
I often wondered how she was feeling
And if I was ever on her mind

One day last November
I saw her once again
Meeting by surprise
But the look in her eyes
Was the same
She smiled and hugged my neck
'Don't you know,' she said,
'I still think of you'
And I whispered softly in her ear, 'I know that you do'

The years race by
And leave us reeling
How fast time goes
From day to day
I often think of you and how you're feeling
It's so good to see your life turned out okay
