Chapter Seven

Seven

Hanna woke up in her sleep. She found her self completely tired. She looked around her room and saw Magi cuddled up in the corner. Then she saw a computer magically appear onto her desk. The hairs on her neck rised a bit as somehow an email showed up on the screen. She walked over to it and squinted in pain at the brightness of the screen. She opened up the email confused. She had never made an email when she was younger so getting one would have to be impossible. But here it was. When she opened it she began reading,

Dear Hanna,

I see you have met my dear sister. However, the power she gives you is disastrous. It must be destroyed. Therefore, Magi herself must be executed. She has gone against our vow as magical creatures to never show our power to human beings unless in grave danger. She will be taken away in the morning. I'm sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Kuro got out of bed, but fell right back into it. He didn't get enough sleep after all. His mom walked in and gasped.

"Kuro? Are you okay?"

"Um. I think so. Why?" she held her hand up to my forehead.

"That's what I thought. Kuro, you have a fever. You'll have to stay home today. Aaaahm. This'll be difficult. I have work today...."

"Mom," Kuro laughed with difficulty. "I'll be fine on my own." She sighed.

"Okay.... My poor baby," she said with a frown. "I'll visit on my lunch break, okay?" she said.

"Alright," he said.

Yuki walked in and smiled broadly. "BIG BWOVER!" she yelled. Then, she looked at me. "Ah, Kuwo, you're face is all wed. What's wong?"

"He's sick honey," his mom said. Yuki's eyes widened. She ran over and hugged me.

"Dere," she said. "All better, right?"

Kuro laughed. "I feel 1000 times better, thanks Nurse Yuki."

She laughed. "Yay! I'm Kuwo's nuwse!"

Aria came in. "Yuki, we'll be late if we don't leave for the bus," she said. "Oh. You sick or somethin'?"

"Just a little," he said.

"Sucks. Come on Yuki," she said. One thing about Aria was, she was a wiz already and knew everything. So when she said they were going to be late, Aria was technically only talking about Yuki, because she had no need for school. She just walked Yuki to school. Every morning, the bus driver would test Aria. They had a deal. If Aria got a question he asked her wrong, she would have to go to school, but wouldn't have to pay for it. If she got it right, the bus driver would give her a dollar. She had $50 from just that. Aria smirked as she and Yuki left for the bus stop. Both she AND the bus driver knew that any question he had to ask, she could answer. As they turned the corner, Aria was ready. They rounded one last corner and reached a yellow sign with a picture of children getting on a bus. "Okay Yuki. Are you ready to go to school?"

"Yep!" she said. "Good luck on yow kwestion fow today! But it's okay if you get it wong, cause then I'll see you at my school evewy day!"

"Woah, woah, woah. You doubtin' your older sister?"

"Heehee." Yuki blushed. The bus pulled up and the door swung open.

"Good morning Yuki," a man wearing a blue cap said. He then turned to Aria. "Well well. Hope you're ready for a challenge, Aria. I'm not holding back today."

"Awesome. The chess games were getting boring at home," she smiled. "Have a dollar on ya?" she asked.

"Now don't get too cocky," he laughed. Yuki got on the bus and sat with her friends in the front. They knew the drill and wanted to watch Aria solve the question. "What is 999 divided by three, times 2, minus 5, plus 7?"

"668, too easy old man," she said right after he had asked it. All the kid's jaws dropped on the bus.

"HOW DID SHE DO THAT SO FAST?!" everyone yelled. Aria held out her hand. The man laughed and sighed. He placed a dollar in her hand.

"Bye bye Yuki!" she said. "Have a nice day at school!" she smiled.

"Bye Awia!!" Yuki yelled.

"Youw sistew is amazing!" one of Yuki's friends said as the doors closed and they watched her walk away.

"I know," Yuki said smiling in pride.

Meanwhile, Kuro was in bed coughing, when he remembered something. "What was the last thing I saw before bed?" he asked himself. Then it clicked. "Oh right! The email!" he thought. He got up slowly and began the recovery from his head rush. He slumped against the wall and stood there for a moment until the dizziness had gone. He walked over to his desk and swiped the mouse a couple times to wake it up. He opened his email and clicked on the new message. He began to read,

Dear Kuro,

You might have forgotten me, but I need your help. Tomorrow is the execution day for my sister. She has given her power to a young human and has broken the rules of the magical creatures and we require help from another human. You are the most suitable person for the job. I will be waiting for you out where we first met.

~Em

Kuro almost collapsed. It all came back to him. The cat, the legend, the traitor cat, everything. It hurt to remember all these things. It was too much to retake in. His head began to spin and he got a major headache. Before he knew it, his vision blurred and he blacked out.
