Chapter Eight
Eight
Hanna stared at the screen. She couldn't believe it. Her one savior, the only one she trusted to stay with her through everything, was going to be cruelly snatched away by fate. She didn't think it was fair. Magi hadn't done anything. All she did was bring smiles to her face and made her feel happier then she had ever been. How was that fair? She looked over at her sleeping kitty and tears formed into her eyes. No. NO! They couldn't take the only good thing she had in life away. Not when she was there. No. She would protect Magi at all costs. After all, she had wishes. She wiped away the tears and nodded. She would not let them take Magi. A rage began to build in her. She kept getting angrier as she said in her head, "She didn't do anything bad. She's innocent and loving." over and over. The next morning, she was ready. Magi seemed confused.
"Why is she all of a sudden so angry?" she thought. "No matter. I'll ask her later. I'm sure she needs some time to cool down." But they didn't know that they had no time. Em was already on her way to Kuro's house.

Kuro felt himself being shaken fiercely. He slowly opened his eyes. "-uro! Kuro! What happened?" his mom was looking down at him.
"M-mom?" he asked weakly. "Wha- where? What happened?" he finally asked.
"Thank goodness. Do you know that's the second time in a row that you've worried me? I came by the house during lunch to check on you and found you on the ground, your fever worse than ever," she said, looking extremely worried, but at the same time completely relieved.
"S-sorry mom, I don't know what happened. I got up and-"
"That's what happened. You got up. Any sane person knows that when you're sick, you stay in bed," she was frowning at him. "Well, you need to get back in bed. I need to go back to work and I don't want anything happening. Maybe I should stay. I just could never forgive myself if something happened. Yup that's it. I'm staying. I can't have anything happening to you. Gosh, Aria should have come in and checked on you," she ranted. Kuro didn't object. He was actually glad she would be staying. He felt more secure. With some difficuly, he climbed back into bed. A sudden drowziness overtook him and he closed his eyes and almost immediately fell asleep. Kuro's mom smiled and rolled her eyes. She walked out of the room and quietly shut the door.
Kuro woke up to find that he was no longer in his bedroom. He was in the middle of the room he was in for his dream before. The girl he'd met in that dream was now pacing. She looked mad and worried. Kuro wanted to help her. He kind of had the instinct to help anyone he saw in a tight spot. Suddenly he jumped as he saw the black cat, Em walk up to him and sit down.
"That's the owner of my sister," she sighed and looked down.
"R-really?" Kuro asked.
She nodded. "I need your help Kuro. I can't do it without a human's help. You were the human most suited for this job. Will you help?"
"Hey, Em?"
"Hm?"
"What has this girl gone through?" he asked.
"Why do you ask?" she said.
"I need to know this before I try to help take away something."
"Well..... Her parents are lawyers and they don't pay attention to her so she's sad most times. She has a maid who began raising her lately. She has wished to take control of her family's fortune and now has had to grow older to inherit it. She is a 10 year old in an 15 year old body," she finished.
"When did she meet your sister?" he asked.
"Only a year ago. Remember the night I came to you?"
"Now that you mention it, yeah I remember." he said. "Wait.... You said....."
"Yes, it's been a year later," Em nodded.
"No way, I'm not ready! Besides it's only been like 4 months!"
"How long are your years?" she asked.
"Mine are 12 months!!!" he said panicking.
"I see," she said. "I apologize. I didn't realize. I should have looked into it. Well now that you know, are you still willing to?"
"I have no idea," Kuro buried his face in his hands. "I had already completely forgot about you and then that email came and smacked me in the face. And I'm sick in bed! I'm so confused. I love my family, I don't want them hurt, and I don't want to leave them either," he rubbed his face with his hands. "It's too much. I just don't know." The dream all of a sudden dissolved and Kuro sat up in his bed. He felt his forehead and flinched. It was really hot now. He fell back in bed and grabbed his phone.
