Chapter 9: Confession
You and Calli are playing games at your house.
Calli: "I really like the pixel art style of this game."
"Yeah. There's just something about the style that grabs your attention."
You and Calli reached the game's final stage and tried to get your characters to the last platform.
Your character is 100 points ahead of Calli, but it gets hit and dies before reaching the end of the stage.
"Aw, goddammit!!"
Calli's character reached the end and your character reached the end after her.
Calli: "Awesome, I won."
"It was nice playing with you," you said, smiling.
Calli: "Same here."
"It kind of feels nice to have the place to ourselves."
Calli: "Yeah. Especially since I get to hang out with my favorite fan."
You blushed at that statement.
"T-Thank you, Cal."
Calli: "It's true. You're the first person in this town I met and I have a blast every time I hang out with you."
"I don't think my life would ever be this fun before you moved here," you followed up with. "I love this town, it's just, things get a little dull after so long."
Calli: "I get that. I had a similar thought before I moved here. The city is nice but as I said before, everything is always in such a rush. I like that I can take things slow now."
You smiled and nodded your head.
"I've been watching your streams every time they go live. And I say they're really good."
Calli: "Thanks."
In your mind, you figured that you and Calli should probably get out of the house for a little bit.
"You want to walk around town?" you asked.
Calli: "Yeah, I could go for a walk."
You and Calli got up from the couch and left the house.
You and Calli left the neighborhood and went to some of your favorite places. You bought ice cream like before, except you got the opposite flavors.
You and Calli went back to the top of the hill in the forest and sit down. You looked at the town and see that it looks like it is: quiet.
"Calli, can I ask you something?"
Calli: "Sure."
"We've been going hanging out for a while. And we've gone on a few dates. So--"
Calli: "Just ask it."
You mustered up all the courage you possibly could.
"Mori Calliope... Would you... Be my girlfriend?"
Calli was silent for a minute.
"Cal?"
Calli punched you in the face.
Calli: "Deadbeat!"
You looked down in shame. This was your one chance to ask her, and she did NOT go for it.
Just then, in an instant, Calli pulled you into a kiss.
"WHA?!"
Calli: "You're so easy sometimes, you know?"
"I guess I am," you chuckled. "So is that a--?"
Calli held your hand.
Calli: "Yes. Let's be a couple."
You smiled and continued to look at the town from atop the hill, now with your new girlfriend.
