Chapter 2: On the Hill

You are currently showing Calli around the neighborhood. You had so much to show her, but you didn't think you could show her everything. Ultimately, you decided on showing her the parts of the hood that are considered "historic" in your book.

Currently, you were with her at your first stop on the tour.

You and Calli arrived at the destination shortly after taking her into the city.

"Here we are, Calli."

Calli: "What is this place?"

"This is the park I used to go to with my family."

Calli: "So it's been here for years?"

"Basically."

Calli: "Man, this park looks old."

"That's why a lot of elderly people come here, Cal. It's old, but it's quaint enough to stop by, even if only for just a little bit."

Calli rested her hand on a fountain and saw the paint coming off of it.

Calli: "Okay, now it's even more old."

"Well, it's just as old as the next place I'm taking you."

Timeskip brought to you by (y/n) and Calli traveling across the neighborhood.

"This is the old video store that I've been going to since I was a kid."

Calli: "This is where people like you used to rent movies from?"

"Yeah, but nowadays, it's solely for niche audiences like me, because today, nobody 'rents' movies from stores."

Calli: "But don't they still rent movies?"

"Yeah. You ever heard of Redbox?"

Calli: "No?"

"Do you have the Netflix plan where you can rent DVDs?" you followed.

Calli: "Don't you buy movies on the internet now?"

"Occasionally, but I mainly go here for birthday and Christmas presents."

Calli: "Such as?"

"DVDs of TV shows I like," you said as you pointed to the TV show section of the store.

Calli: "I'm surprised this place hasn't been renovated."

"They've been trying to renovate it."

Calli: "Doesn't seem like they're making progress."

"Well, things like this take time."

Calli looked around the store a little bit more and pulled a DVD off the clearance section.

Calli: "Yeah, I'm not feeling this place. Are there any other places you want to take me?"

"I have just one more stop on our expedition," you concluded.

Timeskip brought to you by (y/n) and Calli traveling across the neighborhood before stopping on a big hill.

Calli: "This hill isn't that big."

"It's not supposed to be. We just call it the Big Hill."

Calli: "What else do you do apart from just sitting on this hill?"

"Well, most couples like to sit and confess their feelings to their partners."

Calli: "I can't imagine being a boy and having a girl confess to you on this hill. I can only picture the embarrassment unfolding in front of you."

"It's not just about confessions, Cal. Some people like to party on this hill."

Calli: "Party?"

"Yeah, and lemme tell ya, Cal; some of these people like to party hard, especially when their parents are gone. Once they're out of the picture, they go all out. And then the next day, some passer-byes have to clean up the mess they didn't make to begin with. And it takes days upon days to clean. And it's mainly the work of one person. And it's even more troublesome because some punks like to litter as the person is cleaning up."

Calli: "That doesn't sound fun."

"Trust me, it is not in any way."

Calli: (sighs) "I wish I could go to such a party."

"Sadly, you said you wanted to keep a low profile, so that's basically out of the question."

Calli: "I know."

The two of you sat in silence for a bit.

Calli: "This hasn't been going well for me so far."

"What do you mean?"

Calli: "I mean, I've never been outside of the city before."

"Don't feel bad about this place, Cal. If you ever need to know more information about this here hood, you can come to me."

Calli: "I don't want this night to end."

"It doesn't have to end here; we can continue talking for just a bit."

Calli: "Such as?"

"What brings you here, exactly?"

Calli: "My family wanted to live outside of the city for a bit. I assume they got tired of all the hustle and bustle, but I don't know. I'm not feeling the life."

"Calli, don't worry. You'll be used to it."

Calli: "I will?"

"Yes," you concluded. "You just need to take things one step at a time."

Calli: "Thank you, (y/n)."

She hugged you.

"Cal?"

Calli: "It's just that I thought you were going to be nothing more than a crazy fanboy based on how we met, but you've shown me that deep down, you have feelings beyond just being a fanboy."

"Aw, shucks, Cal."

Timeskip brought to you by chibi (y/n) and chibi Calli arriving at her house.

"Here we are, Cal."

Calli: "Home sweet home."

"You know, Cal, I'd love to stay and chat, but I best be getting home right quick."

You proceeded to head home.

Calli: "(y/n), wait."

You stopped dead in your tracks.

"What is it, Cal?"

Calli showed you a slip of paper.

"What's this?"

Calli: "It's my phone number."

"P-p-p-p-p-p-p-PHONE NUMBER?!"

Calli: "Your street smarts impressed me."

"T-t-t-t-t-THANK--"

Calli pulled the number away from you.

Calli: "But I'm only giving this to you because I trust you. Don't go around revealing it to anyone, and don't go crazy wanting to text or call me. Understand?"

"Yes, Calli! YES! PLEASE!" you begged.

Calli: "OK, but I'm only giving this to you because you're begging on your knees like the deadbeat that you are."

She gave you her number, and just as you reached for it, she quickly pulled it back.

"Come on, Calli!" you continued to beg.

Calli: "You better keep this trust."

"I will! I promise I will! I swear on my life I will!" you continued begging on your knees.

Calli: "At least I know you're telling the truth."

Calli finally gave you her number.

"Thank you so much!" you exclaimed before checking your phone. "Well, damn, I best be heading home now."

Calli: "Before you go, (y/n)..."

"Oh, Christ..." you said to yourself.

Calli: "Are your parents waiting for you by any chance?"

"They're not home yet."

Calli: "Then why are you so worried about your parents?"

"I'm worried that they'll freak out about me not being in bed by the time they get home."

Calli: "Aren't they normally supposed to be worried?"

"Well, normally, they're not, because--"

You received a message from your mother.

Calli: "What is it?"

"The reason why they're almost never worried: Mom just sent me a pic of her and Dad hanging with their friends," you said as you showed Calli the image.

Calli: "No wonder I never see them."

"They're such party animals," you added.

Calli: "I better be going inside. My parents are coming home pretty soon. See you tomorrow."

"Good night, Cal," you said as you headed home.

As you got comfy in your bed, you put Calli's number in your phone and sent her a text:

"Welcome to the neighborhood, Mori Calliope. Hope you like it here."

Just as you were about to turn off the light in your room, you looked out the window and saw the pink-haired beauty waving at you from afar.

"Things are going to be mighty interesting from now on," you said to yourself. "She doesn't have anything to worry about, as long as I control myself."

And with that, you turned out your light.
