CHAPTER ONE
CHAPTER ONE
Now, who was it that said that the rain always fell straight? Who was it that said that water coming from a jug to a cup came from the top? Who was it that said that falling from a height is not freedom?
Who was it that said that there was no side to a coin? Who was it that said that not everything thought up was good enough to come to pass? And who was it that dared to say that she will not achieve what she had in mind? Who was it?! That person was officially her enemy from that moment upwards and till ever after.
The day was as bright as it should be with such a sun high in the heavens, shining sedulously, attempting to burn off everything on the face of the earth. Its intensity made the forest and everything around it void of animals, small and big. All had gone into hiding to seek refuge from the scaling mass of light. Yet, one animal persisted. It was one of the higher species. It was human. It was a human female. A lady.
The lady walked nonchalantly through the quiet unpopulated forest. Even the trees were tall and highly spaced, allowing the hot sun to glare heavily on it. Her heavy mass of hair bothered her as she walked, but she didn't want to stop to tie it. She kept walking down the usual path, the suddenly veered from it after a short while into a part of the forest that was denser than the rest.
Thicker plants met her a short walk into the forest, carpet of green grass, tall trees and a small hill that she had to climb. She carried on with her journey, climbing up the hill like eating a piece of cake. Her actions revealed that she was used to going through this route. She went up the hill with ease and smiled the moment she hot to the top. She stood there and looked around, slightly, only slightly breathless from the climb.
Her sharp blue eyes, clear as the forget me not flower took in the landscape before her eyes. It skimmed over the down slide of the hill. The grassy area ended there were she stood, morphing into a crate of stones round and smooth. The rocky path led down to a pool of water that might be missed if one happened to not look well enough while scouting the vicinity. She breathed in the fresh breeze that always surrounding such a place and sighed softly in what was unmistakably contentment.
She exhaled softly before she began to descend the hill. She walked down the very rocky but slight slope, treading carefully through the rough ground of stones to the edge of the water body afore her, one that was created by the waterfall some minutes away. She sighed at the sight of the soothing colourless liquid as she took off her shoes. It always felt good to come here. She sometimes sat her and prayed that her spirit return to that water the very moment she closed her eyes in eternal sleep. She was sure that her spirit would find bliss in a place like this.
The calm waters stared back at her as she stood on one of the rocks, basking wholeheartedly in the gentle breeze of the environment. She did so for a while before slowly lowering her bottom to the rock. She sat down with her unclad feet in the clear water, being a disturbance and causing the water to form small ripples in acceptance. She put her shoes into her bag and retrieved something in it. She gathered her waist long wavy brown hair to the back of her small head, tying it with the piece of cloth that she had just taken from the bag.
The action made her more comfortable as it was, gathering the weight of her hair to her nape. She sighed then and leaned back on her hands which were placed in a position that was by her side but leaning towards the back. She let her head fall back slightly. The position made her chest to come forward, causing the unconscious thrust her rather full and perky breast. She stayed like that, listening to the calmness around her, the serenity of mother nature with her legs moving ever so slightly in the now warm water, heated by the sun which was still high up in the skies.
The seconds she spent there, in that position became minutes which eventually became an hour. She straightened and stretched her arms tiredly to aid blood flow. She had had enough of sitting there and thinking, of mapping out plans and strategies that she would never use. She was a planner. But, kama made it seem as if she were a bad planner which she most definitely was. She always had good plan. It was just that life always brought something bigger than that to her when it struck. The scenarios she imagined came along and the solutions she proposed before hand seemed good enough to handle them. But something, one of the slightest thing would go wrong. She didn't know, couldn't explain it. It always just happened and it completely infuriated her whenever it does.
Well, enough with that! Her stomach must have agreed for it chose then to begin to speak in the tongues of unknown men, hoping without hoping to be establishing a communication link with its owner. She rummaged through her bag and retrieved a cloth pouch, beautiful and pink, obviously hand crafted. She loosened the binding ropes and reached into it with her empty hands which came up full. She bit into the bun that she had retrieved, savouring it -or trying to. She quickly finished half the food in the pouch before a while. She kept the remaining in her bag for later and took out a water bottle. She opened it and took a swing of the liquid in it. Judging by the face she made after drinking, there was either two things. Her stomach was full or it wasn't water inside the bottle. The second option was the correct one. The contents of the bottle, it was alcohol.
The sun was beginning to set in the distant when she grudgingly packed up her properties and stood, bringing her legs out of the water. She removed her shoes from her bag and put them on. She didn't want to wait to appreciate the sight the vanishing orangish sun provided. She needed to return to some place important. She untied her hair and let it run wide, placing the piece of cloth in her bag. Then, she slung the bag over her shoulders and began to go back just as she had come.
