Chapter 1
Shadows sung as we traveled, the ink following us.
"Kaneki, I'm hungry." Tsukimoto whispered as I paused.
I rolled my shoulders and sniffed the air, gaining a good scent. This was good luck since we were in the pouring rain.
"I'll get some... just, stick to the shadows." I muttered as I charged off, twisting through the metal pipes around us.
It had been a year since I met Tsukimoto, figuring out that we were in a place called Amegakure. Food was rich around here, no one caring if someone disapeared every few days.
This was a place that should have been a breeding ground for Ghouls. Yet there was non for miles.
I landed on a pipe, looking down at the ground.
Three children were being beaten up by a lanky man with no hair.
My finger clicked as I jumped down, my Kagune out. One of the children saw me and froze, her honey eyes watching my masked face.
A chuckle left the man when he saw that face.
"Well well well cutie, you realized that I will be your new... master." He chuckled as I crept up.
A dark thought entered my mind, making me smirk.
I hissed, the sound coming out like a demonic force. I launched myself onto another pipe as the man whipped around.
"W-Who's there!?" He yelled, pulling out a knife.
I chuckled, dropping down behind him. I was just in front of the children, my back facing them.
"Your feeder." I replied as I tore my mask off and bit into his neck, my Kagune ripping through his chest.
Tsukimoto jumped from the shadows and ran over. He crouched down and began to feed as I stood.
I turned to face the children and put my mask back on.
There was two boys and a girl. They all wore rags, one holding a puppy who sniffed the air towards me.
The boy holding the puppy had pale skin and blood red hair that covered his eyes.
The other boy had vibrant orange hair and soft brown eyes, pale skin as well.
The only girl had short blue hair and honey eyes, that were wide.
I ignored them for a second as I turned and picked up the body, shoving it over my shoulder.
"Let's go Tsukimoto." I muttered as I began walking. Tsukimoto scrambled after me, a smile on his face.
"W-Wait!"
We paused, turning slightly to look back. The orange haired boy was standing with his arm reaching towards us.
He looked terrified as he began walking to us.
"Yahiko." The girl harshly whispered, stumbling up after him. The last boy followed quietly.
All of them smelled like fear.
"What?" I snapped, my shoulder slowly becoming numb.
The boy with orange hair, now called Yahiko, gulped before straightening up.
"P-Please! Teach us how to survive!" He pleaded as he bowed.
Tsukimoto turned fully to them, looking ready to launch. My hand was on his shoulder before he could do anything.
"Why?"
"Because if you don't... we'll die..." Yahiko whispered, shaking now.
I stayed quiet, mulling it over. Tsukimoto took a step.
"Even if Kaneki let's you, you'll have to watch us feed on a daily basis. We eat people!" He yelled.
The girl and other boy looked shaken as Tsukimoto revealed it, taking steps back.
Yahiko stayed still, looking me in the eye.
I turned fully away from them, pulling Tsukimoto with me.
"I hope your able to keep up, you'll fall behind." I called back, sensing Yahiko's happiness.
I heard him run up next to me as the other two scrambled after him.
"What's your name?" He asked, grinning up at me.
They were all twevle. Tsukimoto was only six. This world is messed up, orphaning children this young.
"Kaneki Ken. This is Tsukimoto." I replied shortly.
"I am Yahiko! Konan is the girl and Nagato is the red head."
I nodded. Tsukimoto made a small huff as he scrambled onto my back, trying to make it seem like he was better.
"Ne ne, Kaneki? Are we going to stay in Amegakure?" Tsukimoto asked with a taunt.
A glance was sent to the three children before setting it ahead of me.
"If they wish to, then we'll take them with us to the other nations-" I was cut off by Konan.
"Really!? Oh please!" She pleaded as she latched onto my arm, her eyes full of hope.
Tsukimoto let out another huff as all of the children latched onto me, the small dog barking.
Honestly, I look for food and I get four children. And a dog.
Can't forget the dog. Never forget the dog.
I sent a cautious glance at the small mammal. It was wagging it's tail while panting happily.
It's after me... it knows everything about me.
Side note: Keep away from the dog.
