Chapter Twelve : It's a Date
Nadir was very worried about Wynne.
"You should never have come down here. Now... now you've got Erik's attention."
Wynne nodded. "But I didn't come down here!"
"Erik brought you down?" He frowned.
Wynne nodded vehemently.
"That's even worse. That means you've been in the center of his attention for a while now... and that's not a good place to be."
Wynne bit her lip.
Nadir sighed heavily, "You can't tell anyone where you've been."
"I won't." Wynne replied.
"I mean this, there is a reason Erik hides in the cellars."
"He's the ghost."
Nadir stopped short.
"It wasn't that hard to figure out." Wynne replied innocently.
"You can't tell anyone because if you do-"
"It won't end well for Erik. I know." Wynne snapped.
Nadir frowned.
"So what's our story with Madame Giry?" Wynne asked.
"You went for a walk and got lost in the basement."
"It's mostly true. I'm sure had I wandered I would have gotten lost."
"Exactly!" Nadir exclaimed, "So let me do the talking to Madame Giry."
"Sounds like a plan." Wynne replied.
Nadir continued to drag Wynne up the stairs.
"You know I can walk just fine on my own." She sassed.
"Right. Sorry." He let go of her arm, and they continued to the Ballerina's bedroom.
All Wynne could see was Mme. Giry's livid face, as the door opened to Madame Giry's office.
"What were you thinking wandering off like that?!" Mme snapped.
"I wasn't feeling well, and I got turned around." Wynne mumbled.
"Go to your room. You and I will talk later."
Wynne scurried out the door tears pricking her eyes.
Nadir stood in the doorway.
"You know it's not her fault that she's curious."
Mme nodded "But I can't have her being hurt. She's under my protection."
"I understand." Nadir replied.
"Thank you for bringing her back to me." Madame Giry said softly.
"I'm glad to have been a help."
Mme Giry smiled slightly.
"I don't know how to thank you." she blushed.
"Perhaps, you could accompany me to dinner?" Nadir suggested.
"Oh... um." Madame Giry bit her lip.
"I didn't mean today, necessarily." Nadir replied quickly.
"Oh... Then sure!" Madame Giry replied.
