The next day was chaotic. When I woke up, I decided to tell Garroth about the fortune. Of course, he thought it was childish like Laurence. I agreed, but I still had a funny feeling about it.

Sense I couldn't become a guard until I had the twins, Garroth took me on patrol with him today! As we walked along the top of the wall, I noticed a small beeping in my pocket.

"Is that your amulet, or Laurence's?" Garroth joked.

"Haha. I got one in Okasis and you know that." I said, poking his armored chest.

I wore an iron helmet and boots. Garroth refused to let me wear anything else. He said it would be too heavy for me to carry with the twins or something. Personally, I think he wanted to feel like he was being helpful by protecting me.

"And, yeah. It's my amulet."

Thank Irene! (Y/n), not to give you stress with the twins, because that'd be bad for them, but I have some possible bad news.

Huh?! Are you and Zane alright?

We're fine. So is everyone else in Okasis. But you might not be fine. Sit down.

I stopped Garroth and we walked over to a covered part of the wall. I slowed down, and sat down. Garroth followed my lead and sat down next to me. He slipped his chest plate off so he would be comfortable. I think he could tell this was going to be a long conversation.

Are you sitting?

Umm, yeah. I don't know what news could be so bad that I'd have to sit down though.

Are you ready? Is Garroth next to you?

I looked over at Garroth who nodded after seeing the concerned look on my face.

Sorry. Anyway, I went into the same shop that we were in. I looked for that fortune telling machine. But I couldn't see it. So, I thought maybe it broke and they had to take it out for repair. So, I went up to the counter and asked the dude back there about it.

He said he didn't know where it was. But that's not it. He said that they had never had a fortune telling machine before.

WHAT?!?!?But we just used it yesterday!

I know! That's what I said! He just laughed at me! Oops, my father heard me, I got to go.

I set down the amulet and stared out in space.

Garroth noticed my panicked state and tried to comfort me by grabbing my hand and drawing small circles on the back using his thumb. The feeling spread warmth throughout my body, making me feel a little bit better.

"(Y/n), no matter what, I'll always be there for you." Garroth whispered to me.

I nodded, but tears where streaming down my face. "Garroth..." I turned to him and buried my head in his chest, the feeling calming me down.

"Shh, it'll be okay." Garroth said quietly to me. He gently rubbed my back as I sobbed into him. He wrapped his arms around me and gave me a hug. "It'll be okay."

My sobbing subsided and I looked up at him.

"Do you want to tell me about it?"

I battled back and forth in my mind.

"Should I tell him... or not tell him? He's going to be my husband. We should know everything about each other."

"Yeah. We should know everything about each other if we're going to get married, right?" I proceeded to tell him everything that Nicole had said.

"(Y/n), I don't know what that means, but I think it has something to do with witchery. We should go ask Lucinda about it after patrol. She should know. Do you want to go now? I have to stay, but you can go now if you'd like."

I shook my head. "I'll wait. I want you to be with me. Besides, I don't know Lucinda very well. We talked once when I first came, but that was the only time."

Garroth smiled and stood up. He offered me a hand and I took it. He helped me up.

"Thank you, Garroth. For always being there for me."

After he put his chest plate back on, I slipped my arm through his, as we continued down the wall on patrol.

Then, a thought crept into my mind. "Am I safe?"
