Chapter 3
The car ride was almost uneventful. We only stopped once to pick up some guy who ended up getting shoved in the boot. James' man got out when we found him. It took them a bit because the man decided to fight back, but they managed to subdue him and shoved him in the boot. After that it wasn't very eventful. After a few minutes we came to a building. James' men got out and went to the boot and practically yanked the from the car. He was led roughly into the building, but just before the door closed, he looked behind him and his eyes met mine. While I could see him, he couldn't see me. But he looked panicked, he was terrified...just like me.
About ten minutes later the men came back out and knocked on James's window. James rolled it down, and the men spoke. "Sir, everything is in place." The man on the right spoke. "Lovely." James said before opening his door before closing it and walking over to my side of the car. I was expecting the door to open, but when it did, I jumped about three feet in the air. Both James and his men laughed when they saw me jump. My fists clenched in anger, but I quickly let them go because of the pain in my wrist. After the laughter died down, James held out his hand for me to take, which I did, not really wanting to get hit...again...I held my dress down slightly as I stepped out of the car and onto pavement. James tucked my arm between his and led me into the building. The smell of Chlorine hit my nose instantly. A pool? I asked myself. As normal, I didn't get an answer. I was led around the pool and to the other side, and hid where another exit/entrance was. "My dear, stay here. I must do somethings." James said before letting go of me and walking away. I sighed and slid down the wall. It's going to be a long night. I thought.
All too soon, James came back. This time, he was smiling, it caused me to flinch when he turned towards me. Still smiling, he bent down and looked me in the eye. He opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted by the door on the other side of the pool. "It begins." James said, still smiling he stood up. "Brought you a little getting-to-know-you present. Oh, that's what it's all been for, hasn't it? All your little puzzles; making me dance - all to distract me from this." A man's voice spoke, loudly. It was quiet until James spoke. "Walk out and say exactly as I say." James spoke. Listening carefully, I heard a door open. "Evening." James said...which was later repeated by a man. "This is a turn-up, isn't it, Sherlock?" James continued. The man repeated it while I gasped. That name. James turned to me after hearing me gasp, and smiled sickly at me. "John. What the h#ll...?" The first man asked, it was barely audible. James continued to speak. "Bet you never saw this coming." The second man repeated after James. I stood up from my place on the wall and watched through the windows. There was a man with a big coat covering him. His back was to me so I could not see his face. His friend had black hair and wore a white shirt with a black blazer covering his white shirt, was holding something in his hand was looked at the man in the coat with shock. I watched as the first man stepped forward, a mix between shock and bewilderment evident on his face. "Open the coat, and repeat what I say." James said. I watched as the man in the coat removed his hands hands and opens his coat. "What...would you like me...to make his say...next?" The man repeated after James. I watched as the first man stepped forward and looked around, but his eyes still on the man in the coat. James giggled before continuing "Gottle o' geer...gottle o' geer...gottle o' geer." The man's voice cracked at the end..to the point where it was barely audible. "Stop it." The first man spoke again. The man in the coat continued to repeat what James said. "Nice touch, this: the pool where little Carl died. I stopped him. I can stop John Watson too. Stop his heart." I let out an audible gasp, causing James to turn towards me and smirked smugly . "Who are you?" The first man spoke. "Show time." James said before pushing me away from the door, causing me to hit the wall. He just smirked and then opened the door a little. "I gave you my number." He said, his voice high. "I thought you might call." He continued plaintively before stepping out, and I resumed my place at the window, still hidden from view. His hands in his pocket. He walked towards the two men at the end of the pool. "Is that a British Army Browning L9A1 in your pocket..." I watched as the first man reached into his trouser pocket and pulled out the pistol, aiming it at the floor. James continued. "Or are you just pleased to see me?" He asked. The first man quickly raised the pistol before answering. "Both." He said. James stops walking before speaking again. "Jim Moriarty. Hi!" James said, his voice going high. The first man tilts his head slightly, looking at James. "Jim? Jim from the hospital?" James said before he continued to walk. The first man raises his free hand to support the other that held the pistol. "Oh. Did I really make such a fleeting impression? But then, I suppose, that was rather the point." James said before the man with the pistols gaze quickly flickered to the man in the coat, confusion on his face. James continued to walk, and talk. "Don't be silly. Someone else is holding the rifle. I don't like getting my hands dirty." James reached the corner of the pool and stops. "I've given you a glimpse, Sherlock, just a teensy glimpse of what I've got going on out there in the big bad world. I' a specialist, you see..." He cuts himself off before continuing. "...like you!" The name Sherlock once again sounds familiar "Dear Jim. Please will you fix it for me to get rid of my lover's nasty sister?" 'Sherlock' said. James continues to walk. "Dear Jim. Please will you fix it for me to disappear to South America?" 'Sherlock' continues. James stops again. "Just so." He says. "Consulting criminal. Brilliant." 'Sherlock says, the end being soft. Even though his back in to me, I can see him smiling proudly. "Isn't it? No-one ever gets to me - and no-one ever will." He said. "I did." 'Sherlock' spoke, cocking the pistol. "You've come the closest. Now you're in my way." James' voice going from light and airy to dark in a matter of seconds. "Thank you." 'Sherlock' says. "Didn't mean it as a compliment." James spoke, clearly lying. "Yes you did." 'Sherlock' contradicting what James had just said. James shrugged. "Yeah, okay, I did. But the flirting's over, Sherlock...Daddy's had enough now!" He said, his voice becoming high at the end. James paused and turned to look at the door he had came through. "Okay, Sherly." James said sounding bored. "I have a small mmmmmm" James started. "Surprise!" i jumped as his voice climbed exactly, three and a quarter octaves higher. "Darling! Someone wants to meet you!" He said in a sing-song voice. I walked out slowly and ducked my head as I approached James. "Awww. Little sugar bear is scared of poor old me." James said grabbing my face. I glared into his maniacal, and crazed eyes, and he smiled. "So!" James said looking away from my face. "Don't you recognize her." He asked, his face gleaming with joy at this new game he had discovered. "No." The tall man with curly hair simply said. "I do not."
"Aww, tsk tsk tsk, so sad." James said casting a crazed, innocent, pouty face. "A father, can't recognize his own daughter?"
