Part 9: The Party ❤️
/yamaguchi's p.o.v./
I was pacing back and forth in my room that Saturday afternoon nervously.
"Calm down honey." My mother told me as she passed by my open doorway. "You'll be fine I promise." She said as she went back the opposite way.
"No I won't. I hate being around lots of people, especially strangers." I shook my head feeling the anxiety churn my stomach.
"Come on Yamaguchi. There may be a lot of people, but it's a safe environment. Just try to have fun okay?" My mom gave me a small smile.
I frowned slightly the statement not really making me feel better. "Okay."

"Yamaguchi, please straighten your tie." My stepdad chuckled as he began to re-tie my necktie for me.
"Sorry I'm not really used to having to dress like this." I replied. Even all my school uniforms have had those clip on ties... I never learned to tie a real one.
"You look nervous." He pointed out.
"Yeah I'm not usually good with new people." I replied.
"I remember, it took you a while to warm up to me." He nodded.
"Yeah, but surprisingly fast for my standards at the time." I assured him.
He smiled at that. "And what about Tsukishima? He doesn't ever make you too uncomfortable right?" He asked as he finished. "Because if you harms you in anyway you don't have to go through with this."
"What? No, it's fine. Tsuki would never hurt me." I replied trying to seem convincing.
"Do you like him?" He asked with a questioning tilt of his head.
I shuffled awkwardly looking to the side. "Yes..." my voice was but a whisper.
He smiled slightly. "Good I'm glad. Now hurry up the party will start soon." He then pat me on the shoulder before walking away.

The party had started and as various friends and family of my parents arrived I was already growing nervous. Tsuki walked in with a man and women I could only assume were his parents.
"Come on Tadashi, meet Kei's parents." My mother beckoned me over.
I stood tall trying to swallow some of the nerves building in the back of my throat as I approached. "Welcome, I'm Tadashi Yamaguchi." Okay good that sounded proper right?
"Hello Tadashi, I'm Kei's father." The tall man smiled and held a hand out to me. "It's very nice to meet you."
Well now I know where Tsuki gets his height from. "It's nice to meet you too." I tried to keep my voice from shaking as I took his hand.
"My wife and I have been looking forward to meeting you." His father spoke well with a deep, kind of loud voice, but the tone was kind and almost inviting.
I found myself smiling slightly, taking an automatic liking to him. Which trust me... doesn't happen very often.
His mother however was just staring at me with an expression I couldn't quite understand.
Tsuki cleared his throat looking to her expectantly.
"Right of course." She smiled, but it seemed extremely forced. "It's lovely to meet you, I'm Tsukishima's mother."
"It a pleasure." I also took her hand. She refers to her own son by his last name..? Not to mention her somewhat cold demeanor. I wonder... does something about me bother her?
My step father seemed to sense my unease so he spoke up. "Well now that everyone has arrived we may as well all enjoy ourselves till the announcement is made."
All four of our parents walked off together leaving me and Tsuki alone.
"Ignore my mother okay, you're fine." He said and pat the top of my head slightly before walking further into the party.
He's trying to make me feel better again, just like back at the tryouts... I placed my hand on top of my head feeling my cheeks warm slightly, and then followed him.

I was walking over to the snack table a good fifteen minutes later getting myself something to drink. As I walked over I noticed a little old lady standing there. Her small wrinkled hands shook only slightly as she took a glass and placed it on the table in front of her. She then went to try and grab the pitcher, which was full and slightly heavy.
"Here let me help." I smiled taking it from her unsteady grasp and helping her by pouring it into the glass, before putting some in one for me as well.
"Oh thank you dear." She smiled kindly taking her drink. "What a sweet young man."
"Yama, they said they'll be making the announcement soon." Tsuki told me as he joined by my side. He then smiled slightly at the elderly woman. "I see you've met my grandmother."
"Grandmother?" I asked in slight surprise.
"Oh, so this is him Kei?" She asked the smile never leaving her face as she looked at me. "I'm happy for you. He sure is a cute one, huh?"
"Of course grandma." Tsuki smirked in my direction.
I looked to the side feeling my cheeks heat up slightly as I took a sip from my drink awkwardly.
Just then the slight clinking of a glass sounded through the ballroom.
"Attention please." My step father spoke getting everyone's attention. My mother and Tsuki's parents were standing by him. "As you may know this party it to celebrate the now official engagement between my step-son Yamaguchi Tadashi, and Tsukishima kei." He paused as the whole room erupted in applause. Once they settled he spoke again. "It is now time for the honorary couple's waltz."
"Shall we?" Tsuki held a hand out to me.
I felt myself shaking slightly at the amount of eyes all on us. I raised my hand and placed it in his. He gripped it a little tighter as if trying to steady it, and then led me to the center of the room. "Just calm down." He whispered as the music started to play and we got into position taking the first steps. "You've done this a hundred times you know the steps. Take a deep breath and try to relax."
"I've done it before yes, but now everyone's watching." I muttered in response my eyes flicking around the room at all of the faces, most of which I didn't know.
"So don't pay attention to them." Tsuki frowned slightly. "What was one of the very first things I taught you?"
I thought a moment. "Meet you partner's eyes..." I trailed off letting my eyes wander to his.
"Exactly." He seemed to fight off a smile. "Ignore them, just look right at me."
I did what he said as I stepped in motion with him now seeming to perfect predicting exactly where he moved next.
Before I even knew it the song was over, another burst of applause, and then another song began to play and various couples joined in on the dance floor.
Tsuki let go of my waist, but not my hand, and then he began to tug me away from the crowd. "Come on."

He had pulled me up a staircase and out onto a balcony overlooking the back garden of the residence. It was a clear night, and besides a slightly cold breeze was pretty comfortable. Even the chilled air wasn't nearly unbearable.
"What are we doing out here?" I asked.
"I figured you'd need a bit of fresh air." He replied casually as he let go of my hand and leaned against the railing looking up at the sky.
I joined by his side. "The stars are really beautiful aren't they?"
"Yeah they are." He agreed.
"I've always looked at them even when I was a kid. I'd love when my parents would take me out into the country, because it would be like the while sky was filled." I told him smiling to myself.
"I never really used to look at them, but recently I have." He explained.
"Why?" I asked in genuine interest.
"Honest answer?" He looked at me. "They remind me of you."
I blinked back at him in surprise. "Me?"
"Mhm cause they're like your freckles." He gave me a flirtatious smirk.
"My freckles?" I felt my cheeks redden slightly, and brushed my hand against my face.
"Yeah your freckles are like the stars in the sky." He replied.
"I've never been complimented on my freckles before." I looked back to the sky feeling a small smile tug at my lips. "In fact I've always hated them."
"Why?" He asked in confusion.
"People always teased me about them. They said they were ugly." I replied sadly. "At first it didn't bother me, but since it's such a prominent feature, and they kept saying bad things about them, I believed them."
"Well you shouldn't believe them." He growled, almost to himself. "It pisses me off that people would say something like that. Freckles aren't ugly, not even close. Besides they give you a uniqueness."
"Thanks, but you really don't have to pretend. I know you're just trying to make me feel better." I trailed off.
"I'm not pretending." He turned towards me caressing my cheek with his hand and rubbing it gently with his thumb. "I like your freckles." He then smirked at me again, leaning I'm super close, and whispering. "I think they're fucking adorable."
I froze once again as he drew close, fighting back a shiver as I felt his breath.
He let his eyes drop to my lips for a moment, and then he licked his slightly. He then tilted his head to the side and closed the gap between us capturing my lips into his.
I widened my eyes, my whole body freezing. Oh my God Tsuki is actually... kissing me?! But wait why..? I don't want this if he's only messing around. I placed my hands on his chest pushing him away lightly. I looked down sadly. "Stop, I'm sorry. Tsuki, I-hm?"
I was cut off by him pushing me back against the wall behind me, and him pressing his lips against mine again, this time in a more deep kiss.
After getting over the original shock I felt myself melt into him, my eyes fluttering shut, and my arms slowly wrapping around his neck, my fingers finding their way to his hair. Unless maybe... he isn't messing around. I felt his tongue push against my bottom lip, and found myself subconsciously opening my mouth to let him slide it in. I felt almost as if my knees could give out under me, my hands were shaking, and my mind slowly running blank. No one had ever kissed me like this before.
I was almost sad when he had to pull away.
He opened his yes slowly, that smug smile returning to his face. "Do you still feel like stopping me?"
I was left breathless, and at a complete loss for words. I simply shook my head no.
He chuckled a bit before slowly pecking my lips once again, and then leaning our foreheads together, not letting me go for a long while after.
Hey guys, ah! They kissed! You all are probably all like. FINALLY! XD was it worth the wait? Vote and comment, bye!
