Part 13: The Parent
I know I know, I haven't updated in forever, I'm sorry, but here's an extra long chapter!
/Yamaguchi's p.o.v./
I was on the train with Tsuki the next morning, and there were less people so we were actually able to get a seat. I was flipping through some notes for a test I had that morning and he was seemingly looking through his phone.
He clicked the lock button and looked over to me. I tried to ignore him as he silently stared at me for a little while, but it was hard.
"You still want to come to my house tonight right?" He finally spoke.
"I mean yeah... if that's okay of course." I added quickly.
"Of course it's okay you're my fiancé after all." He grumbled. "I already told my parents, so they know you're coming."
"Okay great." I replied going back to my notes as he looked out the train-car window.

"Good morning Yamaguchi." A familiar voice greeted as I was making my was to my classroom.
I was surprised by the voice and turned around. I blinked before smiling politely. "Good morning Suga-senpai."
He scanned the area around us. "Tsukishima isn't with you?"
"Hm?" I questioned tilting my head to the side. "Why would He be?"
"Oh I don't know." Suga chuckled sweetly. "He just seems to never leave your side at practice. You two are almost constantly with each-other when I see either one of you."
I felt my face grow warm, and looked down to the floor to try and hide my flustered nature. "I guess that's true..."
He chuckled. "It's not like that's a bad thing Yama." He then flashed me a smile. "I'll see you at practice later."
"Bye senpai." I replied before watching him leave toward his classroom.
I continued walking toward my own in order to not be late, a small smile on my face.
-&-
"You ready?"Tsuki asked as I walked out of the locker room after
Practice.
"Mhm." I nodded following him outside.
When we got out there the sun was slowly falling, since the days were getting shorter, causing the sky to turn beautiful shades of orange and red. I smiled feeling the slight breeze blow past me. Tsuki slid his hand into mine as we walked, and I looked to him fondly before watching ahead again to see where I was going.
I loved the feeling of Tsuki's hand...
-&-
"You can head upstairs, my room is the last on the right." Tsuki stated taking my bag, and jacket.
"Okay thank you." I replied looking around curiously. The house was large and modern, it wouldn't exactly be my definition of homey. I did as told and walked up the grand staircase and into Tsuki's room. It was kind off cluttered, he had a large desk with a laptop and a few books and papers scattered around, a full sized bed with the covers lazily pulled over the top, a bookshelf, and a smaller shelf with a few dinosaur figurines on it.
Tsuki soon walked in behind me. "Sorry about the mess." He stated throwing his uniform jacket onto the bed and loosening his tie a little to be more comfortable.
"It's fine." I stated finding myself watching him with a small smile as he cleaned things up a little bit. "I've seen worse."
He looked back over to me and our eyes locked.
I blushed a little and looked away, trying to find another subject to distract myself from being in Tsuki's room. I nodded toward the shelf. "You like dinosaurs?"
"Yeah." He replied casually leaning against the wall. "I have since I was a kid. Never grew out of it I guess. It's a bit dorky right?"
I was surprised by the statement. "No! Not at all." I replied waving my hands in front of me. "I think it's cool. I mean I think you're cool."
He raised an eyebrow at me, but then smiled. He pushed himself off the wall and walked over to where I was standing, lifting hand up to gently caress my face. "You're pretty cool yourself." He stated moving his hand to gently brush back a part of my bangs.
I watched him cautiously feeling my blush return, and my breath catch in my throat.
He then placed his hand under my chin gently tilting my head up toward him before closing his eyes and leaning down.
I started to close my eyes too waiting for the feeling of his lips on mine.
"KEI!" A voice called from downstairs. "Are you home?!"
He stopped centimeters away from me and opened his eyes. He then growled slightly, let my chin go, and took a step back. "Yeah, What?!"
"Could you come here for a moment?!" His father called.
He sighed. "I'll be right back, make yourself at home."
I watched him leave before looking around again. Tsuki's room is so nice... I sat down on the edge of his bed letting my hand glide across the smooth fabric of the comforter. Sometimes I find being with Tsuki so hard to believe... we aren't really much alike. He's cool and collected and I feel like I'm a mess half the time. I wonder why he likes me...
Suddenly Tsuki walked back into the room making me jump slightly. He sat down next to me. "My dad said dinner will be ready soon."
"Okay..." I replied. Why... why am I so awkward? Why does he like me?
"What's wrong?" He asked emotionlessly.
I widened my eyes slightly. "Nothing. What would make you think something was wrong?" I asked tilting my head to the side.
He reached up to stroke a strand of my hair slightly. "You have that look like you're thinking too much into something."
I didn't look away and felt my heartbeat speed up at his sudden closeness. "How do you know what that look is like?"
"Well you wear it often." he replied
I loved the feeling of Tsuki paying so much attention to me...
"I'm fine." I assured him quietly.
He searched my eyes for a moment before seeming satisfied. He placed his hands on my shoulders and gently pushed me, so my back pressed against the footboard of the bed.
I fully closed my eyes that time waiting for his lips to touch mine. I felt his breath before another voice sounded.
"Tsukishima."
I opened my eyes, Tsuki's mother stood in the doorway tapping her foot tediously. She was still dressed up, and looked like she had just gotten home from work.
"What?" Tsuki practically growled. If looks could kill his mom would be six feet under right now. He really didn't seem happy to have been interrupted again. Then again, neither was I.
She wore the same flat expression her eyes trailing to me for a second before going back to her son. "Dinner is ready please assure you and your guest wash up properly." She stated before slipping down the hallway to what I assumed was her room.
"Let's go." He sighed standing from the bed. I paused a few seconds before following him.
She didn't seem too thrilled to see me...
-&-
Tsuki, his parents, his grandmother, and I were now all sat around the dinner table, eating the nice meal that their housekeeper had prepared for us.
The housekeeper, who I believe Tsuki said was named Selki, pored me a drink as she walked by.
"Thank you so much for the meal." I smiled at her.
She seemed slightly surprised, but then smiled back, bowing her head slightly. "You're welcome."
"Such a nice boy." Tsuki's grandmother stated quietly for us both to hear.
I blushed as Tsuki smirked at me.
"So Yamaguchi!" His father addressed me. "I hear you're on the volley ball team as well?"
"Yes sir." I nodded as we all began to eat.
"What are your strengths?" He asked.
"Serving I guess..." I replied. "I've gotten a little better at defense too."
"Yamaguchi has this jump float serve where the ball just barely skims over the top of the net, and gets to the other side. It throws people off guard, and even our libero can hardly ever stop it cause it's so unusual."
"Wow that's quite impressive." His father complimented.
"Oh no no, it really isn't." I replied waving my hand in front of me before laughing and rubbing the back of my neck nervously. "I mean, it's nothing really, but I try my best to be useful to the team."
"Sounds to me like you are." His father pointed out. "That serve sounds pretty rare."
"Yeah... it took me a while to master, but my father used to practice nonstop with me in the backyard, so that helped me get it down." I explained.
"Your biological father?" Tsuki's mother finally spoke.
I looked over to her before frowning and letting my eyes trail down. "Umm... Yeah."
Tsuki glared at her, and his father cleared his throat, causing her to resort back to silence.
"We'll be having apple pie for desert tonight, do you like that?" His grandmother quickly changed the subject.
I smiled at her. "I love apple pie."
"Good, it's my recipe." She chuckled proudly.
-&-
After dinner Tsuki's father said he had a bit of work to do, and his grandma went to bed. Tsuki and his mom walked out of the dinning room for a private discussion, and I decided to help Selki carry the dishes to the kitchen.
"You don't have to do that." She insisted.
"No it's okay, I like helping." I replied walking with her to the kitchen. She thanked me and then I left walking into the main living area.
"-need to stop this mother" I head Tsuki's voice coming from the hall.
"I can't, I know I agreed to do this whole arranged marriage thing, but I don't think Mr. Yamaguchi is suitable for you." His mothers voice came next.
I froze. I know I should have stopped listening, but I couldn't.
"Why not?" Tsuki asked obviously holding back a bit of a temper.
"He may be part of a wealthy family now, but he was born a... commoner." She replied the word slipping off her tongue with a bit of disgust and a whole lot of judgement.
"What does that have to do with anything?" Tsuki asked. "He has a high enough class to fit your standards doesn't he. He won't tarnish our 'precious family name.'" Tsuki stated.
"I want what's best for you." She responded. "He hasn't lived this life long enough to be able to function in it in the future. He won't be able to control things like we are able, and I don't want that to burden you."
Burden? I felt my fists clench tightly in Anxiety.
"He won't." Tsuki snapped no longer holding his anger. "And you know what mother for once I don't care if you approve of him or not. It doesn't really matter because I really like him, and you can't change my mind about that."
I felt my heart skip a beat.
"I'm done taking, Goodnight mother." He then walked into the room I stood in and froze. "Yamaguchi?"
I didn't really know how to respond at first, and just stared at him.
"Did... did you just hear all that?" He asked.
"Tsuki I..." I looked down when I felt warm tears roll down my cheeks.
"Yama..." He whispered approaching me. He wrapped an arm around me and used his other hand to try and wipe away some of my tears.
I loved the feeling of Tsuki's arms..,
"I really like you too Tsuki..." I managed to say quietly. "B-but I want you to have a happy and good future, and if I get in the way of that, i-if I burden you-"
"Yamaguchi." He said sternly forcing me to look at him. "You are not a burden."
"B-but your mother..." I trailed off.
"To hell with her." He stated. "I'll decide what's good for my future, and I say it's you."
I smiled, sniffling and wiping away a few tears from my face. How can he always say such simple things, and automatically make me feel better?
Once I'd calmed down a bit he caressed my face, sliding a hand behind my ear, and pulled my head closer, finally closing the gap between us.
I kissed back immediately, letting my arms wrap around his neck, and my eyes flutter closed. I was so happy in that moment to just be with him.
I loved the feeling of Tsuki's lips...
He eventually pulled away his face still close. "It's getting late, you should get home before your stepdad has an aneurysm."
I chuckled letting my hands slide off of him. "Yeah I probably should."
"Our driver will take you." He stated letting me go as well.
"Okay." I replied as we walked to the front door and he handed me my things. "Goodbye Tsuki."
"Goodbye Yama." He replied kissing my cheek lightly.
I blushed before walking out the door with a smile. Halfway down the front steps I looked back to see him watching me from the window. I waved.
He waved back slightly, and I continued on.
"Sir." Their driver opened the back door to a nice black car.
"Thank you." I replied getting in. He closed the door behind me, and I leaned back in my seat. The smile hadn't left my face.
I really loved Tsuki...
