ANOTHER MISTAKE

Hi everyone, Enjoy the chapter and share your reviews in the comment section.

At Haseena's home, she was in the kitchen in black sleeveless vest and gray skinny tights. She was staring at the flame of an almost melted candle on her burning palms with blank eyes and deadpan face.

A chaos was going on in her head. Rama's words, Karishma's painful eyes and her own harsh words to Karishma were fueling the fire inside her and its burning sensation was becoming unbearable for her.

The flame on her palm is now burning her skin but it wasn't able to surpass the burning sensation of her soul. Her eyes were devoid of tears but filled with hatred- the strongest, one could ever feel against oneself.

Her burning palm failed to counter the strong emotions of disappointment, guilt and hatred. She threw away the remains of the candle and shouted, "How can I fail to understand Karishma. " Her loud voice was followed by a brief silence and then her sobbings.

Though tears made their way to her cheeks, they did nothing to evade her guilt. "I have to die...yes, I must die.." Her frustration of not being able to be at peace took the shape of the anger and she leapt towards the knife. Just as she was about to cut down the arteries of her life, she heard a manic laughter of her alter ego.

"Want to end your life? What else can be expected from a coward like you? You have developed a habit of choosing the easy path. Everytime some hurdle had come in your way to victory, you did what was the easiest- venting out all your frustrations on Karishma. Come on, do it again chose the easiest punishment for yourself- kill your self,"

Haseena threw the knife to her mirror image and responded back with heightened aggression, "I am not a coward. I will not kill myself. However, I will punish myself in a way I truly deserve." Next moment, she was out on the road driving insanely to a deserted place to punish herself. Lost in the fog of overwhelmingly strong and negative emotions, she redirected herself to a misleading page.

Other hand Karishma could not stop herself from playing her destined role of leading her madam sir to the right step. She reached Haseena's home but didn't find her, "madam sir, where can she possibly go? Please madam sir, don't hurt yourself." In the past year, she had developed a deep understanding of her madam sir's nature and mode of action. Praying worriedly for her safety, she was fidgeting with her phone to track down her location.

"Madam sir, Why? Why can't you understand me? My heart finds its solace in your safety and success and my soul yearns for your companionship- just a true companionship where we will be together in everything. But you have to always board the opposite train. I understand your guilt; all you would have to do was to talk to me and we would have solved the matter...but again, you have to make things complicated. You have created a huge communication gap between us... Your actions have hurted me and they are still hurting." Her fingers were moving on her mobile and her eyes were shedding cascades of tears.

"Once again you have made me go through the pain of losing you. I won't forgive you Madam sir. I won't." Riding on her bike, she sped off to stop her madam sir from doing another stunt.

Haseena reached the scrap yard and heard the horrific screams of a man following the smashing sound of a leash. She ran inside only to be seen a middle-aged being mercilessly beaten by leather leash which has sharp ends of metal. He was screaming and begging for mercy and his whole back was full of blood while another man was enjoying sitting on the chair with his legs on the table. He remarked humorously, "if you would've listened to me, this wouldn't have been your fate.

Haseena threw a bundle of notes in front of him and added, "Take this money and in exchange I want a treatment brutal than this" For a moment, it shocked him and the next moment he burst out in laughter, "madam, you have come at a wrong place, it's not a spa treatment."

Haseena at once took out a gun, loaded and put in her head, "I exactly know where I am but perhaps you don't know who I am. If you want to live, you will do exactly what I am saying," blood red eyes and anger filled hoarse voice was enough to scare him terribly so, he immediately agreed.

Her wrists and ankles were tied on four posts of the metal structure with ropes. Standing behind her, he gave a backward swing to his arm with the leash to hit her. With Karishma's miseries in her mind and soul because of her, she closed her eyes and braced herself with a faint hopeful smile that it might put off the burden on her soul.

Despite all his tries, he failed to swing his arm forward. With gritted teeth he turned around to bash the one who dared to hold his hand. However, the fiery eyes of that person caused his leash to be dropped from his hands and his legs to shiver. Haseena was anticipating the first hit when she heard her voice- her most beloved's yet it caused a tremor through her body, a tremor of fright.

"How dare you to think that you will attempt to hit madam sir- karishma Singh's madam sir- and I will spare you." He didn't even get a chance to let out a scream and he found him broken into pieces in the trash-can nearby.

Karishma moved closer to Haseena; Her hands were opening her ropes as she whispered in her ears, "You had run enough of me, Madam sir. When I left the Police station in search of you, after confronting Rama, I just hurt because of your actions but now I am too angry with you. This is simply unforgivable for me." By then she had finished opening her ties too while Haseena gulped down and dared not to look at her. Karishma clenched her wrist and dragged her behind her, her face was flushing with anger.

The moment Karishma entered her room, she made Haseena sit on the bed, "I don't want to take any wrong step because of my anger so until I calm my mind, you are going to stay here. And on my return, you have to answer me, what would you have done if I had taken the step of self abuse?" After that she left the room, closing its doors behind her.

Karishma had stormed out of her sight and regardless of her wish to call her, she felt her voice dried up. Until a minute ago, she was willing to cross all limits to punish herself for hurting Karishma but after hearing Karishma, she suddenly felt a whole different sort of feeling. Something she was unable to figure out.

Outside Karishma was sitting on the sofa in the lounge, her head in her palms and her eyes filled with tears. Haseena's recent step had refreshed all her wounds from the past. They started haunting her in the form of a reel in her memory lane.

"Madam sir, I..I am having some negative vibes. You.. Can you tell me where you are going?"

"Karishma Singh, there is no such thing. I am just going for an important task."

"Then... then, I will accompany you."

"It's not needed Karishma Singh. I can not take you with me."

"You can give your life for me, you can burn in guilt by seeing me suffering from your loss, you can trust me with the confidential secrets of the country, and you can hide things from me to ensure my safety but you cannot trust us enough that together we can deal with everything."

"How many times do I need to explain the same thing to you, Karishma Singh? How many times?" You always do as per your will, get impatient so easily, lose your temper and start beating up people! Tell me once for all, how long all of us will have to suffer for your mistakes...

Situation is already out of control Santosh Sharma. Why did you have to beat up someone?.... Well done Pushpa ji! This is just we need that you are also supporting her mindless. unjustified and uncontrolled aggression too!! Please Pushpa ji, I love my uniform too. I won't spare anyone who says a word against it within my hearing. But whatever action I take would be within the ambit of law. I won't go round throwing punches like a ruffian. I have spent every iota of strength I had in upholding the honor of our police station that Karishma Singh has ruined in a matter of minutes.

There is no use of explaining anything to anyone when I've failed to understand my own colleagues. I've failed to win their trust. I am still betrayed in this Police Station. I'm being cheated. This station is being spied on."

"For all the matters of the world, you took time to understand and then react patiently. However, when it comes to me, you can no longer keep your calm. You know how much I love my uniform and I just cannot take anyone to humiliate it, still I haven't beaten him to pulp instead I've just slapped him. You have just listened to the media's once sided accusations and not just scolded me without my fault but also awarded me with the title of betrayer. Even if you were angry at that time and you didn't mean to say that then too why didn't you talk to me about that later. Don't you know how much your words matter to me. They... they keep on ringing in my ears and piercing my heart till ages. If you have done a lot for the Police Station then I was with you every time... I stood strong with you whenever our Police Station was in danger. I don't know why you don't watch your words before shouting at me especially when you are so calm and patient with everyone else."

Haseena aimed her gun at her, "Karishma Singh."

"Yes madam sir!"

She shot the bullet to her arm and ran away.

"I realized very late that you shot the bullet just to save me from enquiries but what about the torture i have been through when i was in dark. You could have saved me from that unbearable pain of being betrayed and killed by you by notifying me about your plan. But again you didn't care for my emotions. My life is so important to you but what about my emotions? It would have been better if you let me die. At least, I won't have to bear your indifference."

Standing at the door of her room, Haseena was hearing Karishma's monologue. Karishma's words were pushing her more and more in guilt, her tears were burning her soul and her huffed breathing had made it difficult for Haseena to bear the burden of her own breath. Unable to stand on her feet, she sat down there only on the floor beside the door wall of her room.

An hour later, Karishma entered the room and saw Haseena was caressing their photo frame with a teary smile by putting the frame in her lap. Sensing Karishma's presence, Haseena placed the frame back at its place and wiped her tears. Haseena pulled Karishma towards her and made her sit beside her.
