War Breaks Out
•~Yuichirou's P.O.V~•
'Yuichirou. Wake up. It's time to hunt.'
My eyes fluttered open as my ma called my name. I got up, stretching my legs and yawning as I blinked sleep out of my eyes. I shook my raven coloured fur and stepped out of my den. The morning sun glared down in my eyes. I didn't mind it though.
'Morning, ma, fa.' I greeted my parents.
'Morning, Yuichirou.' They replied.
Yuichirou. Yep, that's the name I was given. An, if you were wondering, my ma and I have raven coloured fur. It's usually lush orange, or bright red, or shimmering gold. But no, I have raven. A rare type of fur for a fox.
I looked around and saw my greatma and greatfa nosing a rabbit husk. I walked over there. I nosed the husk and wrinkled my muzzle up.
'That retched smell. What did this?' I asked.
'Dogs. Dogs that weren't being controlled by those two-legged furless.' Greatma replied.
'Those beasts will take anything they want if they feel like it. They'll claim everything and kill just for a scrap of meat.' Greatfa growled.
Greatma also has raven coloured fur, but, greatfa has a mix of orange and red, just like fa.
'Now, now. It wasn't ours in the first place. We're going hunting now. Come along.' Ma said, heading towards the trees that surrounded our den.
'Ma. Where are the others?' I asked, following after her.
'They went hunting earlier. We might see them while we're out.' She replied.
I nodded my head and followed her into the forest. I went up front, ears turning in all directions. I paused, muzzle in the air. My ears lay flat against my head and a growl rose from my throat. Ma, fa, greatma and greatfa all crouched down on either side of me. I lowered my body so that my belly was just above the ground.
'Keep low and slowly move forward.' Ma whispered, creeping forward.
We nodded and did the same. We crept along the ground, tails curled at our legs. As the scent got stronger, my tail tip thrashed faster.
'Control that tail or we'll be seen.' Greatma hissed.
'Sorry.' I said, calming my tail.
We edged closer, coming face to face with a clearing. Green grass swept over the field, a few mice scattered around. I licked my muzzle as my belly growled with hunger.
'Stop thinking about food. Look.' Fa murmured, flicking his tail in format of him.
I looked at where he was facing and saw a lot of shadowy figures. I looked around and saw other shadows.
'It's the other skulks.' Greatma hissed.
'And those blood thirsty wolves.' Greatfa growled.
'Wolves? In our territory?' I asked.
'It's not the first time. Guess we have to fight them for it.' Ma replied.
We stayed in the shadows, waiting for anyone to make a move. A figure stepped out of the trees. A giant wolf...

'Everyone! Wake up! We have ale hunting to do!'
I groaned as I got up, shaking my white-grey fur.
'Get a move on! Or those pesky foxed will take everything!'
Hearing the word "foxes" was enough to wake up up. I stood up straight, a growl in my throat.
'Good. Let's go.'
I looked around and saw the rest of the pack standing up and heading towards the entrance of our den. We stepped outside, a cool breeze ruffling our fur.
'Everyone split up. We'll meet back here at sun high.' Someone ordered.
We all nodded and split up.
'Mikaela! Wait up!' A voice sounded behind me.
'Come on, Lacus. We don't have all day.' I growled.
'Yeah, yeah, I know. René! Hurry down here!' Lacus said, running after me.
'Coming.' René said, leaping down to us.
We started running through the trees, leaping over bushes, ears pricked for any sound or movement.
'Stop.' René suddenly said.
Lacus and I stopped running and looked at him.
'Foxes.' He growled.
My eyes turned to slits and a low growl rode from my throat.
'This way.' He said, running off.
I looked at Lacus who followed. I ran after them, keeping pace with Lacus. We came to a halt when we saw the rest of the pack gathered around, staring through the trees. We came up and looked over at what they were staring at.
'Foxes. A lot, too.' Lacus growled.
I noticed a bush moving as a lean fox came out. We all growled and stepped out of the trees. There was no time to talk. Someone charged at them, claws unsheathed and lips peeled back. He attacked, drawing blood. The fox yelped in pain.
"Crap." I thought as more foxes came out into the clearing.
Everyone howled as they charged at the foxes. I hung back, looking for anyone to fight. I noticed a raven coloured fox, looking around, fear etched into his face.
"Perfect." I thought.
I lunged towards him, startling him. He slid under me, scraping at my belly. I wiped around and caught his tail in my teeth. He yelped out, but dig his teeth into my hind leg. He dug his claws into my side till I let go of his tail. He whimpered a bit, before staring into my eyes. There was something strange about this fox. Not just the fur. His eyes too. They were emerald green. He lashed at me, clawing my face. I howled in pain, but swiped at his back, ripping off fur.
'Don't hold back!' I heard my father howl.
I looked back and saw everyone fighting. Blood stained the ground, fur flying everywhere. It was a full on war. I turned back to see the raven missing. I turned again and saw him run off into the forest. I chased after him.
'Mikaela! come back!' My father growled.
I stared into the forest for a bit longer before falling back. Another fox leaped on top of me, digging their claws into my fur and closing their teeth at my neck. Howling in pain, I threw them off and slashed at their side. Blood gushed out as my teeth chomped down on their neck, crushing their bones. As they went limp, I looked around. My father was holding a fox in his teeth. The fox looked to be only a cub. Some foxes reared back, ears flat on their heads. Others attacked, not caring about those around. The battle went on for ages till a call was heard.
'All foxes! Retreat! We've lost to many! Retreat! Retreat!'
The foxes cowered back before turning and running into the forest. We stayed they, staring after them. I looked around at the mess in the clearing. Blood was everywhere. Fur lay tangled in the grass. A few body's lay on the ground dead. Mostly foxes, but a few wolves too.
'Let's go back. We need to get some ret before we go out hunting.' My father said, heading back towards the den. Everyone followed behind. I looked back one last time, thinking of that raven furred fox who fled into the forest, before running after the pack.
Sorry that was long. But, I hoped you liked it! This is my second Mikayuu story, the first being called 'New Life To Live'. Updates may be slow as I'm working on my other 12 stories. Anyway, hope you have a good day/night!
