Episode 3: The Last Laugh (Final Part)
Elizabeth's Pov
I sighed as I walked beside Monica. "They're almost upon here." I listened to the sound of the undead groaning just ahead of us. A large amount of zombies were walking towards us. A hundred at least. Most of the buildings around us seemed abandoned so I grabbed Monica by the wrist and pulled her over to an open window of one of the buildings.
"Are we going to die?" Monica asked with a scared look on her face.
"We'll be fine. Just stay quiet." I whispered to her.
She nodded back at me and we waited cautiously to see if anything or anyone was hiding in here. After a few seconds of hearing absolutely nothing, I pressed forward. We couldn't stay in one place for long.
I sighed again. The air in here was hot and there was dust flying around. A big contradiction to the cold outside. But whatever. I didn't question it. "Upstairs." I pulled her towards an old looking set of steps. The steps were wooden and some were unstable. I gently eased my foot onto the first step and heard a loud creaking sound.
Monica let out a heavy breath as the groans reached the building we were in. Sometimes I questioned things like this. Zombies had milky white eyes. Did that mean they were blind or something? Could they smell us? Or was some other supernatural factor involved? So many questions. And yet no answers whatsoever.
Monica bolted up the stairs as banging sounds began coming from the front door of the building. "Screw hiding. They already know we're here."
I nodded. "Yeah." And I followed behind her.
Monica reached the top of the stairs and opened a door. "In here."
I followed her inside. Pausing as I glanced around the room. A bedroom. On the bed was a groaning zombie. A knife stuck in it's throat, causing a bloody gurgle sound every time it groaned.
Monica shook her head. "Poor guy." She saw a crumbled note in it's hand. "Guess he couldn't take the pressure and he...".
"That could be us soon. Let's hurry." I quickly grabbed the knife from it's throat and stuck it between it's eyes before it could grab my wrist. "Alright. Now what?" I glanced outside and saw about twenty zombies. "Most of them kept walking. Lucky us." I told Monica.
"As lucky as we can be." She stared down at them. "They're gonna break the door down soon. And we won't be able to hold them off with just a knife."
"Oh. Yes we can." I smirked at her. "Or rather, I can."
"What's that supposed to mean?" She asked in confusion.
I looked down for a moment. Am I really gonna do this? Can I? Will doing this make me that Witch's pawn again? Do I really need to use her gift? Or curse or power. Whatever you want to call it. I slowly looked up. If it keeps Monica safe. Then I'll do anything. I laid my hand on her shoulder. "Monica."
"Elizabeth?" She blinked.
I placed my hand on her shoulder and let go of her wrist. "It's not my business to rule over how you live your life. To force you to be a certain way. Someone used to do that to me. And I hated every moment of it. So this is just a small hope of mine. I want you to be free. Live your life however you want to without a care in the world. And don't let other people bring you down." I smiled at her. "You're way too cute to ever look sad." I leaned forward slowly and pressed a gentle kiss on her lips.
Monica's face was slightly pink as I pulled away. "You....like...me?" She asked.
"Yeah. So make sure you live so we can meet again." I leaped out through the window with the knife.
"ELIZABETH?!" I heard Monica shout behind me.
Monica. I always felt the way you used to. I...wanted to please everyone. Never thinking about myself. And I was blind to myself being manipulated until it was too late. I don't want you to live that kind of life. I slit my wrist. So please. Be like me. And stop thinking about others before yourself! I felt black lightning streaking across my skin. And then it felt like my body exploded.
Monica's Pov
"Huh....?" I blinked slowly. "Elizabeth...?" I saw a bright flash and then a creature leaped out from the light, slightly steaming. The creature had grey skin and razor sharp teeth and it's nails were pointy. It's eyes were a very dark color. "What just happened? You turned into....". I blinked slowly. So familiar. I'd seen this creature before. But..the last time I had, it killed...my father.
The creature roared and slammed into the group of zombies, crushing most of them.
It wasn't much bigger than the zombies. "Oh my....God."
The creature that was Elizabeth grabbed one zombie and slammed it into the remaining zombies, decapitating and smashing them. It squashed the head of the last zombie and glanced up at me. "M.....on...I...". It spoke. And then it gripped the edge of a building with it's claws. "L...ive." It leaped away along the buildings.
I blinked slowly. Was she trying to become a diversion? "Elizabeth...". I muttered. Seeing a black truck driving towards the building. I was so confused.
A clown peeked out from the driver side window. "Hiya. Need a lift?" I blinked. A clown. Charlie mentioned a clown targeting him and his family. "Number One's the name."
"Hi." I waved. "And yeah. I could use a ride. If you promise not to kill me."
"I make no promises. But rather, you have no other options. From what I saw."
"You're right. I'll come down." I said hesitantly.
Charlie's Pov
I frowned. A bald man with a crown was walking towards us with a crowd behind him. "Who are you?"
"I am Galiath. The one eyed King." His right eye was stitched shut. "King of monsters. Feared by all humans." He spread his arms. He had a bright red cloak on.
Amy turned towards him silently.
Dale sighed. "Monsters are kinda not exactly our friends." His eyes were cold. And didn't hold their usually warmth.
"A shame. I wish to spread my presence to the good people of the world." Galiath spoke. He moved forward in a blur and suddenly our bindings were torn apart.
Dale frowned. "Doing things by the law hasn't gotten any results...". He glared at the ground.
Galiath smirked. "I am the Dragon King." His eye turned red and black.
"No one cares." Dale stood up.
"Excuse me?"
"Thanks for freeing us." Amy stood up. "But we're not interested."
Galiath frowned. "Won't you at least listen to my offer?"
I shook my head. "No."
"......". Galiath shrugged. "You'll come around." A priest stood behind him, smiling silently. He waved his hand and his followers and himself walked off.
I sighed. "We need to go."
Charlotte nodded. "Yeah."
I stood up and helped Sophia, Jacob and Emma up. Zeke....Cody...rest in peace. I glanced at their bodies.
Derek's Pov
I sighed as we walked towards the location of the explosion and black lightning. The air felt off. And then there was a loud slashing sound. I glanced back and saw an entire squad cut to pieces behind me. I turned around. A woman in a white sweater wearing a hoodie. "Hello. Everyone's favorite White Witch is here."
I smiled. "That voice is familiar. I always knew you were weird, Lee."
Lee smiled back at me. "Please, die." She extended her arm and arrows flew at me.
I leaped out of the way and opened my briefcase. I pulled out my sword.
"Why? Why is it you?" I asked her, slashing through the arrows coming towards my body.
She shrugged. "I have no obligation to answer you." She pointed behind me. "Bang."
I turned back and saw a red gloved hand. And then, there was a bright light and intense heat on my face. I felt like I was screaming, but I couldn't see why. I couldn't see anything. And all of a sudden there were sharp pains all over my body. The white Witch...was Lee....Jenkins. And I now had no way to tell anyone.
