Sentiment Encroaching

"Raven, please—!"

Raven advanced on Y/n who didn't move from his seat and he is looking at her impassively, even a little annoyed. Her friends seem to be talking to her but she didn't take in one word; Raven's head was buzzing with only one thought and that was what in the world is he doing here?

Raven: "What the hell are you doing in our hous—?!" Raven screeches furiously, drawing back her dark-energy-engulfed fist.

But Robin and Beastboy and Cyborg suddenly stuff baked cookies into Raven's mouth; she choked, and Robin seizes the opportunity to pull her aside.

Robin: "Starfire," said Robin, addressing to Starfire. "Could you please show him his room?"

Starfire: "Of course," said Starfire brightly happy. "Follow me, Y/n!"

Y/n: "Thank you," said Y/n quietly; he stands up, picks up his bag, and follows her out of the room.

Raven's forehead creases, struggled to comprehend the scene, it seemed like her brain stopped functioning.

Cyborg: "For heaven's sake, Rave! What is your deal?" Cyborg said with a bit of irritation. "That man will be staying with us."

Robin: "And his room happens to be right next to yours." He says flatly. "You don't want to leave any grudges on your first impressions."

Raven swallows her mouthful of cookies with great difficulty, she coughs and sputtered out several grains of cookie; she wipes her lips with the back of her hands and sat on the infirmary's bed.

Raven: "What's that?" she croaked, her face contorting into glaring at her teammates.

Robin: "I said, he will be—"

Raven: "What kind of leader ARE YOU that would allow a stranger to be living under the SAME roof with your only friends?" Raven suddenly snaps, then her tone shifts, this time to a harsh and biting disgust. "And to add insult to injury, I have to live with him?!" She points her finger at the door, her brows slanted in heavy disapproval.

Cyborg: "You're not going to share the same room," Cyborg says with a smirk, raising his hands with a shrug. "It's not that bad."

Raven: "I beat up perverts, not live with them! What would the public think? And most of all, doesn't that stab we got in the back refresh your memories? "

Robin raised his hand; he suddenly looks serious.

Robin: "I know you're not quite the trusting and I don't blame you. We've had a few nasty surprises from people who appeared to help us." Beast Boy's expression slackens as if something struck his chest, but he didn't try to correct Robin. "Please Raven, this is a very serious matter."

Raven: "I don't understand! He can go anywhere and whenever he wants," said Raven almost hotly; her right temple was suddenly pounding.

Robin: "That's because..." He hesitantly stops and looks at Cyborg & Beastboy who held his gaze with somewhat anxious, anticipating eyes. Robin exhales a sigh, returning his attention to Raven. "He's not the one who asked us to recruit him, we are."

Raven was slack-jawed, her eyes shot open in utter disbelief before she looks at her lap—

Cyborg: "Girl, we saw the footage Robin showed you. He's done almost all he has alone with his capabilities and with harsh enough conditions. We've seen and we know that he has the drive to do good. Imagine how much he could help if he was a part of the team."

Robin: "And I know he will never do anything that will draw bad attention and I want to provide him a home until—"

Raven suddenly smacks her palms against the comforter and heaved herself up, turns her heel, and marches towards the exit. She knew she was being extremely uncouth, but this was beyond comprehension and reason.

What evenhanded justification can they give to invite a stranger to their home so easily?

This was just unreasonable!

Robin: "I'm not yet through, Raven!" her leader called after her.

Raven: "Well I am!" said Raven contemptuously.

Cyborg: "Let us explain first—!" Cyborg starts; he was already at the doorway, but Raven ignores him and passes through, roughly bumping his arm.

When Raven makes her way to the hallway, she sees Starfire standing next to the door that was facing her room, talking to their guest, littered with charm and innocence, hands twined together with her lovely curves of softness.

She had safe eyes, perhaps that's the best way to say it. Before each question she paused, head tilted to one side just a smidge, and then she delivers an articulate answer in a dulcet voice, as sweet as any strawberry caramel.

In just moments her mouth gives up on the small smile, breaking into a warm grin, allowing a gleam of white from the teeth below and a slight dimple of her cheek. In the way girls do when they're masking nervousness, and excitement, hanging on his words.

Starfire, the most astonishing girl someone would ever meet... She was like a unicorn. A mythical creature. An honest, easy to talk to and fun to be around. Someone who seeks to make connections and joy and see things from new perspectives.

She was like a unicorn, tucked in the body of an attractive woman...with a great rounded butt.

When her gaze flicks, her emerald orbs glance behind his shoulder and all the charm on her features were gone, her mouth a straight line, the friendly sparkle in her eyes extinguished.

Starfire: "Raven?" She breathed.

Concern. Confusion. Raven ignores the worry that's also clearly there.

Because she's not looking at Starfire. She's focused on their guest.

He must've known, because later, he shifts his head to look over his shoulder, not even bothering to look at her, nor fully turn around.

With a scowl, she enters her room, not before giving the former an intense glare.

'Please forgive her, we knew this is how she would react,' Raven heard Starfire's soothing voice say wearily outside the door. 'That was rude, but please, give her time.'

Raven's head throbbed worse than ever and she is boiling, something she hadn't felt for a very long time; Raven grips a book rather ferociously.

Why didn't I prepare myself for this possibility? her chaotic mind wailed.

How could she prepare herself? Prepare herself for a person who'd left her utterly boneless every time he looked her way, affecting her twice what he had in their last encounter. Ten times that!

When she opens a page, she sees this...

However, she reads the same sentence several times without taking in the meaning as she heard her friends talking to Y/n outside her room.

Her hands and feet were tingling with the similar sensation of this unknown feeling, maybe the urge to send him into another dimension, or the similar sensation of wanting to beat him into a bloody jelly.

Finally realizing that at the peak of her anger gave her a hard time to concentrate, Raven gave up, puts the book on the nightstand. She rubs her forehead and furrowed her brow, then lays on the bed.

She lays awake for several moments before mastering her migraine and finally falling into an uneasy sleep.

After all, she, without doubts, needs it.

Back in the lair, when she enters the dimly lit room she knew he'd be in, she found him standing with his back to her.

She removes her mask and drops her head in guilt. "I'm sorry master, I've failed you—"

An angry growl leaving him as he turns around and backhanded her so hard that she is sent into the wall with a cry of surprise and pain.

She gasps when she sees the master looking down at her and whispers with utter frustration.

"Now he will be my enemy, because of your failure."

He presses a button on the built-in device attached to his wrist and the suit his assistant was wearing started to electrify her. She is screaming from pain, pleading for forgiveness.

The master just stands there watching her suit electrifying her until darkness gets the best of her, and falls unconscious...
