A WRITING UPDATE
hi! been a hot minute since i've posted here, but i just wanted to give a small writing update (and also kind of organise my own plans because i like doing that).
i've so far paused work on weeping flames, which would have been the newest book of the silk and steel chronicles and the first in the city of sins trilogy, because 1) i've written myself into a hole & don't like where i've gone with some of the characters 2) my interest in the silk and steel world is at an all time low 3) part of me wants to start rewriting the entire series but it's also such a massive project so i don't even know where to start. so that's probably not coming out in a while.
for the past two months, i've mostly been focusing on my fanfiction, and until i finish swan song, that's where the priority lies. i'm on my dc craze phase again, and it's honestly quite nice to write fanfic since the world already kind of exists, you just need to pick which aspects you want from it. but swan song is probably the last fanfic i'll be writing in a while, unless i suddenly decide i want to write something for jason as well... which is always a possibility. another part of me kind of wants to write something superhero-y and batfam coded but is still original? i might look into that, and i already have some ideas... all in all, i'm grateful that writing no celestial and swan song has shown me i'm still capable of writing a chapter a day, as long as i have the inspiration.
i've been working on the scholorai series, which i talked about in the last chapter, on the side, though writing for that has taken a backseat since i'm trying to blaze through swan song. instead, i'm focusing on my own worldbuilding so far & messing around with the plot to figure out what i like. unless things go awry (which it always does), this story or some form of it is likely going to be my main focus after i finish swan song.
thing is, with the year ahead of me (university applications, a-levels and everything else in between), i'm probably going to get less writing done than ever before. i think the year ahead might be more fanfic focused, with slower updates and more preparations for what's to come after my a-levels complete, so... next summer. doesn't mean i'll stop writing, i'll definitely always be working on something, but there might be periods of time when updates stagnate & occasionally stop. especially around oct this year, and then jan-feb, april-june of next year... but i'll always be on this app. feel free to drop a "hello" on my message board or contact me through instagram (@nyxiewrites) if you have any questions. or just comment on any of my stories. i'll answer :)
