[35] Do an ollie
"I need to ask you something. But will you listen to all I have to say before you make up your mind?" I asked my mom nervously taking a seat on a stool at the other side of the counter than her. My living room and kitchen were basically the same room, the only thing separating them was a black marble counter that came across them, but not fully so you could walkthrough.
"Sure, go ahead sweetie."
"Okay so, I was thinking about moving out. I already have a place! And I'm actually thinking about moving in with a few friends, splitting rent and everything and the house isn't far from here. I was just maybe thinking I should be moving out with my age now and everything."
She just sort of looked at me, sort of surprised.
"You wanna move out?"
I nodded.
"Who with?"
"Erm, well. I was thinking about moving in with Billie, Mike and Tre."
"You want to move into a house with three teenage boys?"
"Yeah..."
"You're joking?"
"No..." I said slowly.
"Marsha, no."
"What!? Mom come on I'm legally allowed to move out. Is it because you'll be left alone or what?"
"Actually... no. Dylan's moving in."
"Hold up so your boyfriend can move into our home but I can't move into my boyfriends home with his friends?" I said pissed off.
"Marsha I said no!"
"Mom I'm legally aloud! I'll never have an offer like this to move into a house with friends, and I don't wanna move into a home alone!"
"Alright fine!"
"What?"
"You can move out!"
"I can!?"
"Yes!"
"Oh my god!" I squealed jumping out of my seat and running around the counter over to my mom and hugging her, thanking her.
"But remember. I'm always not far and you are always able to move back in? Okay?"
I just nodded as I hugged her, not really caring. After thanking her I left the house and basically skipped to Billies. Once I reached his I realised Tre's old car parked outside of Billies house. Meaning Tre and Mike were here too.
I opened the door and walked in since Billie had always told me I have no reason to knock here. "Hi, it's me, Marsha," I shouted as I closed the door behind me. I heard footsteps as I looked up at the stairs in front of the front door as Billie turned the corner and ran down the stairs, and took me in his arms as he picked me up and spun me happily.
"Billie!" I squealed. Hugging him back. "Put me down!"
"Sorry." He blushed putting me down and standing in front of me still grinning happily. I laughed softly and kissed him.
"Why are you so happy?"
"Guess what!" He shouted.
"What?"
"Billie boys moving in!" Tre shouted coming down from the stairs behind where Billie stood along with mike. Billie turned around to Tre annoyed he didn't let him say it. "Sorry."
"You are?" I asked happily.
"Yes!" He hugged me again tight but didn't pick me up this time. After he pulled away I smiled at him.
"Well guess what."
"What?"
"Me too!" I squealed.
"No way!" Mike shouted. I smiled wider and nodded at the three of them who stood there surprised. Billie picked me up again and spun me around once again as this time I just embraced it and giggled. Like actually giggled.
"You convinced your mom?" Tre asked, surprised but he was happy. I nodded proudly.
"That's awesome! So you're moving your stuff in tomorrow with me and Billie?" Mike smiled.
"Yes."
"Everything's coming up Billie fucking joe," Billie grinned to himself.

"Come on Marsha!" Billie shouted from his car parked on the street outside my house. I was at the door saying bye to my mom, all my boxes were packed last night and are loaded in Billies car. Billie who had already dropped his box's over at Tre before coming to help me.
"Yes, Bill one mine!" I turned back around to my mom, she had tears in her eyes. "Mom don't cry." I pouted hugging her.
"I'm not I'm not."
I pulled away and looked at her. "I'll be okay, okay?"
"I know dear I know. I just never thought you leaving the house would come up so quickly." She said wiping her eyes. I nodded understandingly.
Beep beep
"Billie give me a second!" I shouted turning to him, he sighed and rolled his eyes as he crossed his arms and sat impatiently in the car waiting for me.
"Go on, Billie seems like he misses you being in the car alone." My mom joked. I laughed slightly then said goodbye again. And waved goodbye to her as I got into Billies car and Billie drove away.
"Could you be anymore impatient?" I laughed looking over at him, he didn't reply. "Beej?" He didn't reply. "Billie?"
"W-what?" He said looking over at me confused as he stopped the car on a red light. I'm guessing he had zoned out or something.
"It doesn't matter," I said shaking my head.
"Sorry, I zoned out. What did you want to say? I'm listening."
"No, it's okay. It wasn't important."
"You sure babe?"
I nodded.
"Okay, I love you."
"Yeah yeah," I laughed, as he shoved me and then quickly put his hand back on the steering wheel as the red light turned green.
We parked outside of Tres house as Mike came running outside, Tre followed. The three boys began carrying my boxes inside as so did I, we dropped them in the room Billies box's were in. After a few trips back and forth we had all of everyone's box's inside. Mike's, mine and Bills. So that was it. I'm moved in?
We all stood in the room mine and Billies boxes were in after putting the last few in the room.
"So that's them all," Mike said looking at all the boxes in the room. I nodded.
"Yeah, that's all of them."
"Well... looks like you've moved in,"
"Oh my god, I am."
"Yeah, now you gotta deal with me." Tre laughed. He then bounced out of the room to go help Mike unpack as Mike followed. Leaving me and Billie in the room alone.
"So this is...." I trailed off thinking of how to finish that sentence.
"...Our room I guess." He shrugged sitting himself down next to a pile of his box's that had 'BJ' scribbled in scrawly handwriting in a thick black marker. Whereas I think I wrote my name pretty neat on all of mine.
I began to unpack my shit, me and Billie had separate dressers. So I started by putting my clothes away. Then other things like makeup, straighteners, shoes until I came across something.
I opened a long box I had, which was full of all my old skateboards. One was a longboard, it was basically as long as both my arms extended, another was a cruiser. It was quite small and just sort of plain. It was just white, but the dirt around it from using it so much had made it sort of a dirty kind of white, but not exactly grey. It was my first sort of skateboard, then there was another sort of penny board, but it was red and the deck of it was sort of transparent. I never used it a lot since I was scared I would scruff it up, the wheels lightened up to when I would use it. So when I did use it it would only be at night. And one was just a classic skateboard. It had scratches on the bottom, and the wheels were scruffy. And the last one was a new one I had bought just before quitting skateboarding. Which I had barely even used. I don't even know if I could ride these anymore.
I heard someone come up behind me whilst I was looking at the skateboards and taking them out the box, I turned around to see Billie also looking at them.
"You use to skate?"
"Yeah," I laughed slightly. "I did."
"Was you any good at it?"
"I was great! I skated for years."
"Any tricks?"
"Yeah,"
"Go on then."
"Well I could do Ollies, Kickflips,-" He cut me off quickly.
"-any easy ones?"
"Yeah I guess... like hippie jump and-"
"-what's a hippie jump?"
"Basically just where you're skateboarding and jump over a bar and land back on the board skating again."
"Oh, okay carry on."
"Okay so I could also do a boneless, a-" he cut me off again.
"-Okay okay I get it you were good at skateboarding. Can you teach me?" He smiled.
"Billie I haven't been on a skateboard in years I-"
"Aww please, Marsha! Please I'm begging you! I've always wanted to skateboard!"
"Billie I don't even know if I still can-"
"Pleaseeee!" He begged, and pleaded, he inter winded his fingers and got on his knees, he pouted his lip. But it was the fucking damn puppy eyes that got me.
"Fine." I smiled, he jumped up quickly first pumping the air in victory. "But you can use my scruffy skateboard. I'm using my new one I bought." I said picking up the Barley even scratched one as Billie nodded and picked up the scruffy one. We ran down the stairs to find mike and Tre sat on the sofa with a beer in both their hands.
"Where you both going?" Mike asked.
"Yeah? And whose boards have you got?"
"They're Marsha's." Billie smiled.
"I'm going to go teach Billie how to skate,"
"Ooh, can I watch!" Tre smiles jumping up.
"Ooh ooh me too me too!" Mike said also getting up quickly out of his seat on the sofa.
"What! No way!" Billie said looking at me. I shrugged meaning I don't care and they could join if they wanted to, which caused the two boys to high five, and Billie to look mardy.
"I thought you guys were unpacking mike's box's?" Billie asked. They both shrugged.
"We were, got bored," Mike answered casually. "And I thought you both were unpacking both of your box's?"
"We were," I shrugged.
"Got distracted." Billie finished.
"You got distracted?" Mike laughed.
"What do you expect from Billie joe," I laughed.
"Where are we going to do it?" Mike asked.
"Well, I was thinking we could go to the old parking lot of the abandoned seven eleven," Billie told us, we all agreed and left the house as we chucked the two skateboards in the back of the car and all tumbled in, as Billie drove us.
"How long have you been skating for Marsha?" Tre asked me from the back seat.
"I use to skate for years, but I sort of just quit and shoved all my boards under the bed and forgot about them." I shrugged.
"For years!?"
"Yeah, I was really good."
"So why did you stop?"
I swallowed uncomfortably. "Well, I use to skate with a friend. But he moved away and I was upset, so I didn't wanna skate anymore."
"He?" Tre teased.
"Yeah."
"Who was he?"
"He was a friend," I shrugged, looking over at Billie who looked sort of tense. "He was a great skater."
"How good?" Mike tunned in.
"Amazing," I smiled. "He taught me all that I know. All the tricks I know, how to actually ride, and stop, and drop-in. All sorts."
"What was his name?"
"Mason."
"Did you likeee him?" Tre asked poking my shoulder. I giggled slightly.
I did like him, but I didn't love him. Maybe I felt like it was love at the time. But looking back on the way I felt for him comparing it to the way I feel for Billie. It was nothing compared to the love I had for Beej. But it was still something because once he moved, I didn't ever wanna see another skateboard again, I felt like I had my first ever break up but he was never mine.
"Erm..." I tried thinking of what to say. "No," I said uneasily.
"She's lying," Mike said.
"I can tell." Tre agreed. Billie was still silent. "So you did like him."
"I guess I did yeah, but-"
"-did you love him?"
"No, no I didn't love him. I just liked him, a lot. So when he left I just quit."
"You've never seen him since?" Mike asked.
"No, I don't even remember his second name to try and find him on any social media's or anything."
"We're here," Billie said, sounding annoyed. As mike and Tre got out of the car followed by me and Billie. Once we both got out we got the skateboards out of the boot.
"You okay Beej?"
"Yeah," he said, still annoyed.
"You sure?"
"Mhm."
"Are you jealous?" I asked playfully poking him in his rib cage as he flinched and laughed a little, then stopped and shook it off.
"No!"
"Yes, you are!" I smiled.
"Alright fine, but I can't help it." He smiled innocently, I just sort of laughed and gave him a quick kiss before setting down the skateboard, Mike and Tre had took a seat on the concrete floor watching the both of us. "Okay so teach me," Billie said looking over at me as he placed the skateboard down and looked over at me.
"Okay so," I talked him through it as I placed my foot forward on the board and pushed, then moved my front foot back sideways pushing surprisingly smoothly along the concrete. I then stopped and looked back at Billie waiting for him to do the same, I watched him struggled and pushed and soon enough fell off, as mike and Tre laughed and I went over to him trying not to.
"Fuck, I hurt my ass." He whined.
"Come on," I laughed picking him up. "I'll help you."
I stood beside him as he placed his foot on and pushed as I held his hips as he glided, and I let go as he turned to realise he was gliding down the concrete on his own.
"Oh my god, I'm fucking doing it."
"Okay now stop!"
He placed his foot down quickly and stopped as he picked the board back up and came back over to me. He carried on just sort of getting the hang of it and skating around as I watched him sat beside Tre. Sometimes he stumbled a bit, sometimes he went over a stone and jumped off and sometimes he did it surprisingly well.
"Isn't it weird how a boy you liked taught you and now your teaching a boy you like?" Tre whispered over to me.
"I guess." I shrugged.
"He's actually surprisingly good," Mike said still watching Billie, I got up and got back on to my board, and taught him how to turn by just swaying to a certain side of the board and putting your weight on it. He then began to practice turning the board.
We must have been in the car park of seven-eleven for hours. Just watching him skate around. And sometimes I would skate around to, practising some old tricks.
"How did you do that!" Tre screamed jumping up and over to me.
"That was just an Ollie." I shrugged. "It's just like a jump."
"Do it again."
"Okay?"
I jumped on the board and dragged my foot up as I did a perfect Ollie.
"Can I try?"
"Sure." I laughed getting off the board as Tre got onto it wobbly.
"Tre your gonna kill your self!" Mike shouted watching him, Billie was just skating around, pretty sure he had zoned out.
"I'm not! You watch!" Tre shouted back and then turned to me. "So how do I do it?"
"Okay so, place one foot there," I said pouting to round the end of the board as Tre moved his foot there. "And one in the middle, and then you wanna pop out, jump and slide your foot that's in the middle at the top of the board."
"Pop-out?" He asked confused looking at me.
Mike got up and ran over to me to get a closer look.
"Just pop out, like push with your foot on the end of the board so it goes up, I'm not really good at explaining. Want me to show you again?"
"No no, I got it. Okay so." Tre looked down at the board biting his lip in concentration. He looked down as I and mike moved back and he jumped, failed and fell straight on to his ass.
Mike had fallen beside him laughing, as I was clutching onto Billie who had come over and stood next to me in confusion on what the hell had just happened.
"What's going on?" He asked.
"Tre- he- he!" I spoke in between laughs but couldn't even finish my sentence.
"I fell off and they're laughing at me," Tre said getting up.
"Hey, you laughed at me when I fell off," Billie chuckled nudging him.
"It's not the same when it's me!"
Mike and I were still laughing as I fell onto the floor next to him replaying the image of Tre falling on to his ass in my head. Mike was holding his stomach as I grabbed onto his shoulder not able to breathe.
"Okay, guys it's not that funny," Tre said unamused.
"Yeah but you-" Mike laughed. "You- you!" Then he had gone into a fit of laughter again and I joined. Tre looked over at Billie who shrugged as the got back onto the board under his foot and skated off, leaving Tre to deal with me and mike.
"Okay okay, I'm over it," Mike said getting up as I whipped tears from my eyes also getting up off the floor.
"Yeah but his face when he fell-" I said getting cut off by my own laugh as mike began to snort again.
"Stop laughing I tried my hardest!"
"Don't worry Tre, I've fallen off my board a million and one times," I said stop laughing feeling guilty trying to make him feel better. "One time I fell off in front of a group of teenagers when I was a kid, and they all laughed at me and I ran home crying." Which made him laugh.
"You did?"
"Yeah, I cried for ages that night."
"Don't blame you."
I looked over at Billie, who was trying to Ollie too now. He was failing. But he wasn't falling. He wasn't exactly lifting the whole board of the floor, but he didn't fall like Tre had. I left mike and Tre and skated over to him. "You need to jump, and lift your foot up the board faster," I told him.
"I've got it I've got it."
"Okay, I was just trying to help."
He finally gave up and sat down with the board in his hands as I joined him.
"Do you miss him?" He asked me randomly, I was confused he even meant. He wasn't really looking at me but instead at Tre and mike who was laughing about something.
"Miss who Billie?"
"Mason." He looked over at me. "Do you miss him."
"I use to. But not anymore. Why?"
"Just asking. Cause I mean you said you liked him."
I laughed slightly. "Billie I liked him. It was like a silly little childhood crush, it didn't mean anything big. But I love you. Besides. You're way cooler, your in a band and now you can skate too."
"I can barely even skate."
"Billie you're doing so well to say you just started."
"Yeah but I don't know any tricks."
"I'll teach you. If you carry on practising you'll be great!"
"I don't even have my own board. I'm using yours."
"We can get you one. We can design the deck and make it personal and everything." I smiled, he finally cracked a smile back, then looked forward as he leaned his head onto my shoulder.
"I don't know what I would do without you." He said slowly. "You always know how to make me feel better."
"I love you."
"I love you more."
