[10] well i was wondering
I woke up, remembering I was supposed to meet Billies mom today. I was absolutely terrified. I guess I felt more pressure with the fact that she was basically best friends with my mom too.
I then got a text from Billie as I was straightening my hair in the mirror, I looked over at my phone.
Billie Joe: you're still coming over to meet my mom aren't you?
I decided to ignore it, obviously I was. I would have to. If I didn't she would think of me as being rude. So I was, I just didn't want to exactly remind myself that's what I was doing today.
Billie Joe: I know you're there, answer me!
I giggled to myself quietly as I put the straighteners down.
Me: yes, hello Billie. I'm here.
Billie Joe: there you are :)
Me: I'm nervous.
Billie Joe: right, I'm coming over.
Me: you are?
Billie Joe: yeah, to help the nerves, you know. Being a nice guy.
Me: just hurry up.
I unplugged the straighteners to give them time to cool down as I got ready, again I didn't wanna seem like I was trying, but I didn't wanna seem like I didn't care. So I put some black skinny jeans on with rips in the knees. A Pink Floyd shirt and waited for Billie.
Suddenly I heard a knock behind me. I turned around absolutely terrified to see Billies grinning face in the window.
I opened the window and laughed.
"There's such thing as a Door Billie." I laughed as he threw himself into my room.
"Well, I didn't know if your mom was home or something so-"
"-so you? You climbed my window?" I laughed.
"I climbed the tree, to the window yeah." He smiled innocently. I couldn't help but laugh as I shut the window. He took a seat on my bed.
"My moms gonna love you I promise." He smiled as I sat next to him.
"How do y'know?"
"Because she will Marsha, I can tell. Just be yourself."
"That's so corny coming from you," I laughed punching him playfully in the arm.
"That was uncalled for!" He chuckled grabbing his arm where I punched him. I did feel better with him here, I will admit. He made me feel less nervy. But I was still scared. Very scared.
Once I decided I was ready Billie and I left my house, through the door, and headed to his.
"It's fine," he said walking next to me, I guess I really was transparent to him. He just always saw how I was feeling. And I guess that was a good thing but at the same time maybe not.
Once we reached his house we stood at the door, he gave me a little smile before knocking on the door as we waited.
"Hello!" I heard what I was guessing Billies mother as she opened the door, with the hugest grin as she Engulfed me in a big hug. I hugged her back already feeling better about this.
"Hi," I smiled back as she finally let go. I and Billie entered his house as we sat on the sofa, Billies living room has a kitchen next to it, without any door. It was almost like the room was two rooms on its own.
"I've heard so much about you Marsha," his mother said sweetly as she entered the kitchen.
"You have?" I asked surprise.
"Mom!" Billie shouted as his face went red, I couldn't help but smile to myself.
"Oh yes, good things of course!" She added. She was so enthusiastic, normally I couldn't stand people like that. But she did it in a different way, she wasn't over the top and instead more joyful.
"I've heard a lot, billies right. You are pretty." She smiled sitting at the kitchen table. I looked over at Billie with a grin as he sighed putting his hand on his forehead.
"Mom we're going upstairs. Shout us when dinners ready, love you bye." He said quickly as he got up and grabbed my wrist dragging me up the stairs. I heard his mom chuckle as we left the room. Billie obviously embarrassed.
We got to his room and sat on his bed, "So what was that about?" I asked him smiling.
I watched the tip of his nose heat up. "N-nothing, forget that happened!"
"You're blushing!" I shouted. He covered his face quickly with his hands, in an instinct not even realising I grabbed his hands away from his face and held them. Looking at him.
"Marsha," He smiled teasingly. I quickly let go looking away. "Hey, why did you let go?"
I shrugged embarrassed.
"You don't have to get embarrassed around me," he said softly. As he put his hand gently on my face forcing me to look at him.
"But you get embarrassed." I smiled. He let go as he threw his hands in there and flopped back on his bed. I couldn't help but laugh.
"So what do you think of my mom?" He asked me. I laid down next to him, but we didn't make any contact.
"I think she's sweet." I smiled. "But I didn't know she already knew about me." I laughed turning to Billie. He turned his face to me.
"I don't even know how she knows about you I-"
"-Billie." I laughed cutting him of, "Do you talk to me about your mum?"
"What- no! Course I don't!"
"'Billies right, you are pretty'" I laughed quoting her. "Did you tell your mom I was pretty?"
"No!"
"So you don't think I am?"
"No! I mean- yes! I mean- uhg!" He put his hands over his face. I loved the most when he got embarrassed and not me.
"Real smooth Mr Armstrong."
After a while of us talking his mom shouted us down for dinner, as we sat with her at the table.
"So Marsha," Billies mom said to me, looking at me across the table. "Tell me a bit about yourself."
"Sure, what do you wanna know?" I asked her.
"Anything at all, any hobbies?" She reminded me a lot of when I and Billie first met. I shook my head. "No hobbies?"
"No, not really." I forcefully laughed.
"She's not cool like me," Billie smiled over at me, joining in to make the conversation a bit less awkward. I could tell he joined in only to help me. I guess he could see I was having a hard time.
"Have you heard Billie play?" She asked me, flicking her eyes from Billie to me. I nodded quickly.
"I have, he's amazing." I complimented. She nodded quickly in agreement as we both looked over at him. Looking proud.
"I invited her over when the boys and I had band practice." He told her with a mouth and a half full of food. Eating messily.
"You've met the boys?" She asked me, sort of surprised.
"Yeah," I chuckled slightly.
"They're a hand full aren't they?" She laughed, I joined in.
"Definitely,"
"They're not that bad!" Billie protested.
"I see why they're your types of friends," I said to him, almost teasing him as Billie's mom agreed. I guess I didn't feel so awkward anymore.
"They're great actually, they are also very talented." He said, blobbing his tongue out quickly at me as if he was a small child.
"They are yeah." I agreed, I would give him that. But it didn't change the fact that they were very much a hand full. And immature. But I liked that. Most people these days seemed stuck up, but they weren't. Neither was Billie.
"Have you invited Marsha for tomorrow?" Billies mom asked Billie, as I sat in confusion.
"Well, I was actually going to do that on the way home. It was going to be a nice gesture but now that you've mentioned it, mom. I will." He looked over at me as I looked back at him furrowing my eyebrows wondering what they were even referring to.
"We're doing the garden tomorrow. It's like massive and Tre and Mike are coming over. I was wondering if you wanted to- I don't know if you didn't have any plans, join?" He asked me, getting like he always did when he asked me anything. Nervous.
"I would love to." I nodded, I would have hugged him. And I wanted to hug him. But we were sat at a table so I kinda couldn't, plus his mom was right there.
"I was also thinking," billies mom added. "If you'd like to invite your mom?"
"Oh yeah, your old best friend." Billie snorted to himself. Billies mom quickly looked over at him as he shut up. Which made me laugh slightly. As I had never seen him shut his mouth so fast.
"Sure, yeah I'll ask her." I smiled. "Thank you for dinner, miss Armstrong." I smiled.
"Oh, you don't have to call me that," she laughed. "Call me Ollie."
