Chapter 27: Moving Forward
The morning air was crisp, the scent of the ocean lingering as Isabella sat on the deck of Roman's house, sipping her coffee. It had been a long night-after opening up to the Usos and Solo about her past, she had felt emotionally drained, but at the same time... lighter. Like a weight she didn't even realize she was carrying had finally been lifted.
She heard the sliding door open behind her, and soon, strong arms wrapped around her from behind. Roman pressed a kiss to her shoulder, resting his chin there for a moment.
"How you feelin'?" he murmured.
She sighed, leaning into him. "Better. I didn't realize how much I needed to talk about it."
Roman pulled out a chair beside her, his dark eyes searching hers. "You never have to carry that stuff alone, Izzy. You got me. You got us."
She smiled, reaching out to squeeze his hand. "I know."
Before he could say anything else, the sound of small feet running across the floor interrupted them. Malachi burst onto the deck, still in his pajamas, his curls a mess from sleep.
"Mommy! Daddy! Can we go to the beach today?"
Roman smirked, glancing at Isabella. "What do you think?"
She ruffled Malachi's hair. "I think that sounds like a great idea."
Malachi grinned and ran back inside, already yelling for Joelle.
Isabella laughed, shaking her head. "That boy has too much energy in the morning."
Roman chuckled. "Just like me."
She rolled her eyes playfully. "Oh, don't I know it."
As they got ready for their beach day, Isabella felt something shift inside her. She wasn't just existing in this space anymore-she was living in it.
And for the first time in years, she knew she was exactly where she was meant to be.
The warm Florida sun hung high in the sky as the waves rolled onto the shore, creating a soothing rhythm that blended perfectly with the sound of laughter. Isabella stood at the edge of the water, her feet sinking into the wet sand as she watched Malachi and Joelle race toward the waves, their giggles carried by the wind.
Roman stood beside her, his arm draped lazily around her waist, fingers tracing slow, absentminded circles against her hip. "They look happy," he murmured, a soft smile playing at his lips.
Isabella nodded, her heart swelling at the sight of their children playing together, carefree and full of joy. "They are happy." She turned her gaze up to him. "And so am I."
Roman leaned down, brushing his lips against her forehead. "Good."
Before she could say anything else, Malachi ran up to them, his little chest rising and falling with excitement. "Daddy! Come in the water with us!"
Roman smirked, glancing down at Isabella. "You comin', too?"
She laughed. "Oh, I love how you assume I'm getting my hair wet."
Roman chuckled, shaking his head. "Fine, princess. You stay here lookin' pretty, and I'll handle the kids."
She grinned, watching as he jogged toward the water, effortlessly scooping Malachi up and tossing him over his shoulder. Joelle squealed in delight, splashing at them both as Roman ran deeper into the waves.
Isabella sighed contentedly, taking in the scene before her. This was what she had always wanted-love, family, peace.
And for the first time in a long time, she had all of it.
