Chapter 25: A Day with the Brothers
The sun was high in the sky as Isabella pulled into the parking lot of a local sports bar, her heart warming at the sight of Jimmy, Jey, and Solo already waiting outside. It had been years since she'd spent time with them alone-without Roman, without the kids-just family.
She stepped out of the car, and before she could even take a full breath, Jey was already pulling her into a tight hug.
"Damn, girl, it's been way too long," he said, squeezing her before finally letting go.
Jimmy grinned. "We were startin' to think you didn't like us no more."
Isabella rolled her eyes, laughing. "Please. Y'all just like to exaggerate."
Solo, ever the quiet one, smirked. "You did disappear for a while."
Her smile softened. "Yeah... I know."
The brothers exchanged glances before Jimmy slung an arm around her shoulders. "Well, you're here now, and we got a lot of catching up to do."
They headed inside, grabbing a booth near the back where they could talk without too much distraction. As soon as they sat down, Jey smirked, leaning across the table.
"Alright, Izzy, spill."
She raised an eyebrow. "Spill what?"
Jimmy chuckled. "You know what. You and Roman."
Isabella sighed, shaking her head with a smile. "Y'all act like you don't already know."
Solo leaned back, arms crossed. "We wanna hear it from you."
She hesitated for a moment before glancing down at her promise ring. The past few weeks had been nothing short of amazing, and she knew she didn't owe anyone an explanation-but this was family. And if there was one thing she had learned over the years, it was that family talked.
She looked back up at them, her expression soft but confident. "We're taking things slow. But we're serious about making it work this time."
Jey nodded in approval. "Good. 'Cause we weren't tryna see y'all do that back-and-forth again."
Jimmy grinned. "You make him happy, Izzy. And it's been a long time since we've seen him like this."
Isabella felt a warmth spread through her chest. "He makes me happy too."
Solo studied her for a moment before finally nodding. "Then that's all that matters."
The conversation shifted as their food arrived, and soon, they were laughing like old times-reminiscing about their wildest memories, teasing each other relentlessly, and just being together.
Halfway through the meal, Jey leaned over with a smirk. "So... when you do marry my cousin, you gonna let me give the speech at the wedding?"
Isabella nearly choked on her drink as the brothers erupted into laughter.
One thing was for sure-no matter what happened next, she wasn't going to lose this family ever again.
After recovering from nearly choking on her drink, Isabella shook her head, laughing. "Y'all are already planning the wedding now?"
Jey smirked. "I mean... might as well. We all know it's happening."
Jimmy leaned in with a mischievous grin. "Bet Roman's already got a ring picked out."
Isabella rolled her eyes, but she couldn't help the way her heart skipped a beat. The truth was, she had thought about it-about the idea of forever with Roman, about how much had changed between them in the past few months. But she wasn't about to give them the satisfaction of admitting that.
"You guys are impossible," she muttered, taking a bite of her burger.
Solo, who had been relatively quiet so far, gave her a knowing look. "So you haven't thought about it?"
She sighed, setting her food down. "Of course I have," she admitted, glancing at the promise ring on her finger. "But we're not rushing anything. We're making sure we do things right this time-for us, for the kids."
Jey nudged Jimmy. "Translation: Roman's definitely proposing soon."
Jimmy chuckled. "Yup. We're calling it now."
Isabella groaned, but before she could say anything else, their waitress approached the table.
"Hey, aren't you guys the Usos?" she asked excitedly, her eyes flickering between Jimmy and Jey.
Jimmy grinned, leaning back in his seat. "Depends. You a fan?"
The waitress laughed, pulling out her phone. "My boyfriend is obsessed with WWE. Can I get a picture with you guys?"
Jey smirked, already posing. "Come on, girl, let's do it."
As the waitress took her pictures, Isabella leaned toward Solo, shaking her head. "They love this."
Solo smirked. "They live for this."
After the pictures were taken and their waitress walked away, Jey turned back to Isabella. "Alright, back to business. If you do marry Roman-"
"Oh my God," Isabella groaned.
"-do we get to plan the bachelor party?"
Jimmy's grin widened. "Ooooh, that's a good question."
Solo chuckled. "Y'all ain't gonna let this go, huh?"
Jey shook his head. "Hell no."
Isabella sighed dramatically, though she was still smiling. "Fine. If it happens, then we'll talk."
Jey smirked. "So when it happens."
She threw a fry at him, and the brothers burst into laughter.
By the time they finished eating, Isabella had forgotten how much she had missed this-how much she had missed them. The teasing, the jokes, the easy way they pulled her in and made her feel like she had never left.
As they walked outside, Jimmy pulled her into another hug. "We're glad you're back, Izzy."
She smiled, hugging him tightly. "Me too."
Jey draped an arm around her shoulders. "And just so you know, when Roman does propose, I am giving a speech."
She sighed, shaking her head. "Lord help me."
Solo chuckled, leading the way to their cars. "You're stuck with us now."
And honestly? Isabella wouldn't have it any other way.
