Chapter 9: The Sudden Arrival Of The Rivals
- Fixing-
What the talked about last night had me freaked out. It sucks how our engagement party turned into an important meeting towards the end.
Liam and I slept peacefully together in his bed until someone busted through the door, "Princess Liam, Princess Anna!" One of the guards yells.
We quickly sit up and within seconds we realize something was wrong.
"Kavington is under attack," He says as my face goes lifeless.
"Oh my goodness. What about my parents? Oliver? Are they okay? What about my people?" I ask once I get myself together and tears fill my eyes.
"It's the Scallions. The ones that we have been preparing for, for the past few days. Your parents are safe and so is your friend. As for your people, so far, unfortunately there are ten dead," He says sadly.
"We have to go now," I say trying to get out of the bed. I look over at the time and it was 3:30 a.m.
"No," Liam and the guard says at the same time as Liam stops me from moving.
"Why? Liam, my Kingdom. Our Kingdom," I say as tears fall from my eyes.
"Anna, baby, I know. That's what they want. They want us to go back there so we can fall into their trap. Oliver and your parents are safe and now it's time for me to get you safe. Soon, they're going to wonder why you're not there," He says holding me trying to soothe me.
"Yes Princess, it would be a trap. Any concerned royal would quickly run back to their Kingdom to help and get killed. You guys can't go back tomorrow morning. We need to get the both of you out of here as soon as the daylight hits. The Scallions are on there way here next," He warns.
"I want extra security around the castle. I also want extra security around Anna at all times when I'm not aroun-" Liam says but is then interrupted by the sound of the loud rumbling and screeching.
"What's going on?" I ask.
"The emergency doors. Someone is trying to enter the castle," The guard says running out of the room.
"Anna. I'll be right back, okay? Promise me you won't move," Liam says getting up and grabbing a sword from under his bed.
"Liam, I'm coming with you!" I yell.
He looks at me knowing that I wouldn't stay put the moment that he left.
"Fine, but for goodness sake. Promise me that you'll follow me and stay close to me. I will never forgive myself if anything happens to you," Liam whispers pulling me to him.
"I promise," I say as he pulls me into a kiss.
I kiss him back as more tears start to escape my eyes. I decide to man up and make sure they would not come out. This was a life or death situation.
Liam runs to another closet in his room and takes out a bow and arrows, "Use this to protect yourself. I can sense that you're good with archery and shooting. You're way better than I am"
He was right. I nod as I take them and we head out of the room. I follow him down the stairs and as we do, King Lowry and Malcolm were fighting off Scallions. I look over and see Cleo with her children being taken into safety until a man comes out and shoots the man with an arrow right in the chest knocking him down.
"Malcolm!" She screams in fear causing him to look concerned in her direction.
He loses focus and the man hits him as he stumbles to get to Cleo and his daughters. Liam runs to help his brother as I take a bow and arrow and shoot the man trying to grab Cleo. Malcolm looks at me gratefully and goes back to fighting as the man falls to the ground. I run to Cleo and the children before anyone else decides to come for them.
"Are you okay?" I ask.
"Yes. Thank you so much," She says with tears in her eyes as the children were crying.
"We need to get you guys out of here and somewhere safe. Come on," I say as I help her up with Pea in her arms. I then help up Beatrice.
"Anna, behind you!" Cleo calls out.
I quickly turn around and a man charges at me. I duck and kick him. He stumbles and grabs me by my arm. I try to pull away as I try to fight him at the same time. I look over and see King Lowry headed for Cleo and the children.
I nod at him reassuringly as he takes them and runs. I pull hard enough for the creepy looking man to let me go. I punch him in his face and kick him in his chest. Another man comes and helps his battle buddy by tackling me down to the ground. I hit my head and moan in pain. His weight on top of me becomes light as I look and see Liam pulling him off me. Liam punches him as Malcolm joins in fighting the man I had kicked in the chest. I help myself up and grab my bow, happy that it wasn't damaged. I grab one of the few arrows that weren't broken and shoot both of the men to the ground. Liam runs to me and pulls me into a hug, "Are you okay? You're bleeding"
I nod into his chest as I embrace his hug. I pull away and look at both him and Malcolm, "Are you both okay?"
"Yeah. That was some crazy shit," Malcolm states as Liam just nods and kisses my head.
"Where'd they come from?" I ask putting my hands on my hips.
"I don't know. They were supposedly in Kavington, but I guess they separated while some of their army came here to attack and the rest were to attack in Kavington," Malcolm states.
All of a sudden, more army members came in ready to fight.
"There's too many of them and not enough of us to fight them!" I yell as I take out another arrow.
I wake up abruptly with a gasp. I look around and Liam was no where in the room. It was just a dream. There was no war going on yet and no attacks anywhere. The preparation for this upcoming potential war was freaking me out. Liam had been spending so much sleepless time with all of the guards and security. They were planning all of the routes to take me, to keep me safe if we were to get attacked while we were here. Liam and I were going back to Kavington in the morning so, I felt like all of his planning could stop because regardless on us getting attacked, it was not going to be here.
I get out of the bed and head to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face. I then get dressed and head out of the room.
"Good morning, Princess Anna," A servant says with a curtsy as she smiles.
"Good morning," I smile as I return the crusty.
I head down to the study knowing that Liam was in there making plans.
"They're looking for her. She can't go back to Kavington and they'll come here if they can't find her there. Luckily they haven't attacked, but they've been leaving signs everywhere, your highness," The messenger says to King Lowry as Liam frowns.
"I need to tell her what's going on. She's my future princess. She deserves the right to know. I love her father. I don't care that they want to come after me too. I'll do whatever it takes to keep her safe," Liam says with pleading eyes.
"If you tell her she'll want to fight. The Scallions will not stop until both you and Anna are dead. This is their way of revenge," King Lowry states.
"Forget revenge. You and King Adelaide did not know that the boy you killed that night, all those years ago was their future King and the head Scallions's son. She won't want to fight. I'm going to talk to her," Liam states getting up as I scurry to the dining room.
"Ahh. Princess, I was told that you were awake. I have pancakes and fruit for you," Another servant says with a smile.
"Thank you very much. It looks delicious. Compliments to the chef and your wonderful service," I smile with a curtsy as Liam enters the room.
"Prince Liam," The servant says with a curtsy as he nods and smiles at her.
She then leaves the room to give us some privacy. How funny does that sound? Privacy. What is privacy in a royal life? - delete
"Good morning, my Princess," Liam says sweetly as he wraps his arms around me and kisses my forehead.
"Good morning, my love. How are you?" I say looking up at him.
"Better now that you're with me," He smiles down at me and then kisses my lips.
I smile at him as we slowly pull away. He walks me to the table and pulls out my chair. I take a sit and he pushes me in. He then takes a seat next to me, sitting in a position where he close to me, but I still had enough arm room to feed myself. I pour syrup on my pancakes, cut a piece and put it in my mouth. I look up at Liam and he smiles at me. The smile was weak and tired. I knew he wanted to tell me what they were talking about in the study, but he didn't know how to tell me. I gently place my hand on his cheek and caress his face. He closes his eyes embracing my touch. I then kiss his cheek gently and trail small kisses all over his face finishing at his nose and then both of his eyes.
"I love you so much," Liam says gently putting our foreheads together.
"What's wrong, Liam? I know something's bothering you. Just tell me," I say sweetly.
"We're going to have to be away from each other for a while," He says as my eyes grow wide.
Wait, what?
He had told me everything.
