3 - Stories
Woah, today was tiring!
That's all I can say. Harry was moving about, place to place, then he wanted to play hide and seek, which, I might add, he is way to good at. It took me a good twenty minutes to find out where he was hiding and that was just the first time! He took five minutes finding me (well, actually, four minutes and fifty five seconds, I counted). I then had to find him again and this time it took about half an hour. He then found me in two minutes and twenty five seconds. I can't believe it, he's so good at that game! It's like he's memorised the house from top to bottom!
To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if he had. He has a lot of spare time, he gets ill way to easily and has to stay home from school a lot. Sometimes he just has a cold, but Mum keeps him home anywhere as usually the cold escalates into something bigger. He hates being babied around, but as he's so small and his voice so childlike and young, especially the fact that he can't always say his words right, well, it's hard to not dote on him. I've seen old ladies who've only just met him coo over him like he's their grandson.
I'm not jealous, though. Harry deserves all this attention, what with all the drama that happened when we were younger. He won't get a big head about it, either. I know him really well and I know that when he gets praised he simply blushes and looks away.
Awww, it's bed time now, I gotta help put Harry to bed. He hates going to bed early, but tomorrow we're going shopping and we can't risk him falling asleep. It doesn't matter about me, I can easily stay awake when I'm tired, but it's harder for Harry. We're going to bring the stroller anyway, just in case.
Well, time for Dad to read us a story. I know, I'm a bit old for stories, but Harry loves stories and I'll do anything for Harry. Even listening to stories which are designed for three year olds (basically Harry's mental age). Dad is just about to begin the story, when Harry says something.
"Daddy, don' wanna 'ead the knight, wanna 'ead the d'agon!" Harry says excitedly. He frowns a little at his voice, but then Dad laughs a little, so Harry smiles. "Of course, Harry, but let's check that your brother wants to read the dragon too, all right?" Dad bargained with Harry. He didn't really have to do that, he knew I'd say that I wanted to read the dragon as well.
"I love the dragon!" I exclaim, faking excitement. I don't think Harry suspected a thing!
"Yay! Daddy, we're gonna 'ead the d'agon!" Harry exclaims.
It's still a bit strange, hearing Harry's voice. Because we both go to school together, and we're in different classes, most of my time is spent with my friends during lessons, and Harry at breaks. I'm in a normal class, but Harry's in a disabled one, I suppose it's called. I don't like calling it that, it makes it sound like there's something wrong with my baby brother. Which there isn't, there isn't now, and there isn't ever.
But anyway, it means that I spend most of my time with people who speak normally, and I get adjusted to it. Then I go to Harry, and I have to get used to his way of speaking again. Luckily, it isn't too hard! We're twins, it's what we do!
"Once upon a time, there was a... dragon," read Dad, making it up as he went along. Harry lived for those kind of stories, at one moment it was about a dragon and a knight, and the next it was about Dad's school days.
"The dragon was very-" Dad paused, looking at me when he failed to think of a word that fit into Harry's word category, "scared. He wanted to fly, but he was too scared to try."
I found it hard to hold in my smile as Dad's eyes lit up.
"Hey, did I ever tell you two about the time when Snivellus slipped me a coward potion? It made you scared of all the things you love! Worst day of my life, let me tell you. I couldn't do Quidditch, or play pranks, or even ask you mother out for a whole week! It was a very hard time for me, kids, and I hope that you'll never have to experience it." Dad said it in such a way that Harry seemed to understand it all, and he laughed. Hard.
Me and Dad shared a grin.
Hope you enjoyed! I certainly enjoyed writing it. If you read any of my other books, then be sure to pay attention to this chapter and remember it, because it DOES give some hints (wink wink). That's all for now, bye!
