Backstory: Snowflake had a little sister named Iceberg. When they were dragonets, they wandered into Skywing territory. They were caught by a Skywing patrol and Iceberg was killed. After returning to the Icewing Kingdom, Snowflake was blamed for her sister's death. Many of her friends turned their backs on her and she was left alone. Snowflake couldn't bear living like that, so she left. A few months later, she ran into a Seawing named Riptide, who became her friend. Riptide eventually left his home to stay with her, which she was very grateful for.

Backstory: Riptide grew up in the Seawing Kingdom. He always wanted to know what the outside world was like, so he left the kingdom when he was old enough. He learned alot and even ran into an Icewing named Snowflake, who he befriended. When he took Snow back to the Seawing Kingdom to meet his parents, they tried to run her off. Riptide was furious with his parents and demanded why they would do so. They explained that it was unnatural for him to be friends with an Icewing. Riptide left the Seawing Kingdom to stay with Snowflake. He gave her a silver bracelet of their friendship and promised to never leave or betray her.
