Summer of Fifth Year
Suddenly, Harry had a lot of friends, or at least a few, that weren't too swamped to have lunch. Hermione wrote frequently, although she didn't have time for lunch. Hagrid was retiring, Teddy was quiet in classes again, her job as Headmaster was going well.
He had two lunches with Ginny, since the letters. She was a professional Quiditch player, now. She played for the Chudley Cannons. George closed the joke shop some time ago. He wasn't coping well.
Ron still worked at the Ministry as an auror, but he was head of the department. He had a fiancé, her name was Susan Bone. She was a Hufflepuff in the same year as us.
~~~~~
That summer the house would be the fullest it had been in years. Hagrid wanted to visit, see Harry. Now that Ron and Harry were back on good terms he has been visiting a lot and would come again over the summer. Hermoine had some free time and Harry jumped on it immediately. Nicole was staying the whole summer. And of course, Teddy was coming home.
~~~~~
Teddy walked off the train, conversing with Nicole. Harry noticed one hand was gripping Nicole's, and another was solving some sort of Muggle puzzle. He was flipping it around and sorting colors without even looking. Harry points it out when they're within speaking distance.
"What's that?" Teddy looks at the toy in his hand as if he didn't even know it was there.
"Oh, it's called a Rubix Cube. It's a Muggle game. I use it to calm myself down." Harry nods, wondering when Teddy started needing something to calm him down.
Teddy reluctantly breaks off from Nicole and she goes to see her parents. Teddy stands around with Draco and Harry, waiting for Nicole. She would be apparating home with them. Harry felt a distance between him and Teddy, and was determined to get rid of it.
"So how was fifth year?" Teddy looks as if Harry pulled him out of a trance.
"Um, yes, it was good."
"Oh, do you have Hagrid as a teacher?"
"Uh, I did, for some time. He's retiring now." Harry sighs and gives up the conversation. Nicole returns and they leave.
~~~~~
Harry waits nervously in the living room. Draco is sitting beside him reading a simple book, and when Harry looks at him he is overwhelmed with a sense of relaxation. He lays back on the soft couch and stretches. His eyes suddenly feel heavy, and Harry unwillingly closes them.
He feels Draco's head gently rest in his lap. Without opening his eyes, Harry strokes Draco's soft hair.
"Draco?" Harry almost whispers, careful not to disturb the peace.
"Yes?" Draco replies in a low voice.
"You make me happy." Draco doesn't reply, but somehow Harry knows he's smiling.
Suddenly the doorbell rings and Harry groans. He had been excited for this day since the plans were made, but in that moment he wanted nothing more than for time to have frozen.
Harry opens the door to a large man. The man squeezes through the door and stands in the hall. He looks around the room before looking at Harry with a kind smile. Since Harry had seen him, his hair had mostly grayed. He was just as large, but his cheeks had lost a bit of their fullness. Even his eyes had aged. They had lost a bit of their sparkle and you could see the tiredness behind them. His smile was just as kind, but tired as well.
"'Ello, Harry. 'S been too long."Hagrid says it with a sigh, as if he was breathless.
"Hello, Hagrid. How have you been?" Harry can't help but look at him with a small amount of pity. Hagrid may not of been extremely old for a wizard, but the age was definitely showing.
"Oh Harry, I must say s'not much of a fun class anymore. I'm just a tired old wizard."
"Well it happens to the best of us, doesn't it? Please come in. Tea's on the kettle and Teddy and Nicole should be out shortly."
