| CHAPTER TWO |
The Castle bustled with people as they rushed around the halls, putting the last pieces together for tonight's feast. Xiana walked down the halls towards the training fields, she still had many hours before she was to begin getting ready for the event. She wore a simple white baggy shirt with a tie at the collar and a pair of tight brown leather trousers, tucked into black knee-high boots. Her red hair was pulled back in a braid which reaches her mid back, strand fell on the side of her face.
Xiana soon walked out an archway and onto a large grass-covered field. Knights were already out training with swords and shields. But the one who caught her eyes was was in the middle of a spare. His raven black hair dishevelled with a sweat gleam on his forehead. His eyebrows fused together in concentration as he blocked an incoming attack from a Knight. The spar soon finished and Xiana clapped her hands together gaining Zion's attention. His half smile showed he was happy to see the red hair lady before him.
" I must say, you have gotten better." She said to him as she walked over to the weapons rack. "But still no match for me." She said as she picked up a small dagger and pointed it at Zion. His smirk grew larger as he eyes the dagger, shining in the sunlight.
"You think you could take me on with a tiny dagger?" Zion asked her.
" I do not think I could, I know I can." She retaliated back to him quickly.
" Very well then," Zion said pulling a sword from the rack and they both walked out onto the field. "I hope you know that I am not going easy on you."
" I wouldn't want you too." They both stood staring at each other waiting for the other to make a move. Zion was the first to go, he lunged forward with his sword pointing to the ground. In an upwards slash, he swung it up hard. Xiana watched his every movement, the way his eyes watched her. The way his muscles worked and his expression on his face. All these help her decided what her move would be. Xiana stepped to the side at the last moment, letting his swing fly past her.
She let him fall past her as the energy of his swing had nowhere to land. She twisted gentle and dropped to the ground, sweeping her leg out to take away Zions only form of balance. Once he dropped to the ground heavily, Xiana jumped up and rushed over to him. She moved her dagger towards Zion's neck, but he blocked her by grabbing her wrist. He twisted his hips, throwing Xiana off his torso and onto her back. He quickly pinned her wrist, which held the dagger to the ground next to her head; his other hand wrapped around her neck.
" I win," Zion smirked at her as Xiana just chuckled at him.
" Make sure you hold down both arms next time," Xiana told him before punching him hard enough in his side to wind him. Taking his lap in concentration, she pulled her hand from his and pushed him off her. She turned and threw the dagger down pointing to his heart. But at the last moment twisted her had and place her fist over the area instead.
" I win." She told him before standing up and throwing the dagger at a target, hitting dead centre. She turned to look at Zion who lay defeated on the ground breathing heavily. "One day you will be king." She said sternly to him. "Even then you will still never win." She chuckled changing her mood to be light-hearted. She reached down and helped Zion to his feet as they laughed together.
"It's been a while since we sparred," Zion said as they walked over to the training tent. Once there they pick up a goblet filled with water and took a seat. "I have missed it."
" And I, but you Father has many tasks he wishes for me to fulfil." She told him taking a drink of her water.
" Thanks to him, the Kingdom has seen it's most peaceful days." Zion smiled as he looked out over the training field, where the Knights trained.
" He cares a lot about this Kingdom, but he cares most about his people. Thanks to that no one suffers from poverty or starvation." Xiana sad as she looked down at her goblet. "When I was in Wenha to have the treaty signed, almost everyone was poor and starving. Barely enough water to go around." She explained sadly, "It made me appreciate what we have here more. It made me realise just how lucky we are."
"Not everyone can be as lucky as us," Zion said softly to her. "But one day, hopefully, poverty will no longer exist and the world will be happy."
" Yes, you are right," Xiana said looking at him with a smile. "But that is something we may never see."
" But it is something we can help achieve."
" Prince Zion, Soul Xiana. It is time for you both to start your preparations for this evening's events." A man dress in a server's uniform announced to them.
" Thank you," Zion told him as he bowed and disappeared. Zion and Xiana both stood up from their chairs. "Well, I shall see you later this evening." He said as he turned and began to walk to his chambers. Xiana smiled and turned around to walk in the opposite direction.
"Yes, you shall." She muttered to herself before taking herself to her chambers to get ready for the feast.
