| CHAPTER SIX |

The Prince and Soul had ridden for a day through the forest and over rivers. Only stopping when need. They had barely spoken a word to each other as the memories if that night's events were constantly playing over and over in their minds.

" We will stop at the town just up the road for the night," Xiana said as she kept her horse at a steady walk just in front of Zion.

" Shouldn't we keep going?" He returned as Xiana shook her head.

" No, neither of us have eaten or slept in two days. If we keep that up we will never make it to the next kingdom." She told him as Zion nodded understanding her logic and they fell back into silence as they continued on.

Within the hour they reached the small town. It wasn't much with its dirt roads and rotten three stories buildings. They kept their horses at a walking pace as they made their way to the closest inn, where they could rest for the oncoming night.

" This way, keep your head down. This town is full of people who will do almost anything for money." Xiana said as she pulled her horse to a stop outside a shabby looking building with large glass windows, lit with candlelight. The setting sun darkening the streets as time went by. Xiana was first to dismount her horse stiffly. She landed with both feet, causing the wet mud to splash slightly.  She was closely followed by the prince, who gave a little sign at the fact that his boots now had another layer of mud caked onto them.

" Quickly, we shouldn't delay on these streets," Xiana said quickly as she tied her horse up in the stables to the left of the inn. Before walking into the building first through a side door. She made her way through a three-meter-long dark hall to where she tapped four times on the wall. A few seconds later the wall shifted right and revealed a scruffy face with a tangled black beard. His harsh eyes stared at Xiana before grunting and sliding a key over to her and closing the hatch again.

" A man of few words," Xiana said as she turned and opened the door to her right which leads to a set of rotten wooden stairs. Xiana instantly started to climb them, but Zion looked at them with doubt. "The stairs are fine." She said as she rounded the corner heading up the second flight. Zion sighed having no other choice but to trust her word and he ascended the steps. He jogged up quickly to catch up with Xiana who turned off the steps and into a long hallway with four doors. Two on the left and the other two on the right. A single candle at the end of the hall was all the light the hallway had to offer.

"Did that man know you?" Zion asked her from behind as she walked to the last door on the left.

" Not here, inside." She said as she unlocked and pushed open the door. She stepped aside so that Zion could enter the room and she shut the door quickly locking it once more.

" I stopped a brawl here once, a pretty big one as well as stopping bandits from robbing the place. So in payment, this is my personal room." She told the prince who nodded understanding as he sat down on the only bed. It was an uncomfortable straw bed on rickety wooden legs.

"Get some sleep. I have a few things I need to do." Xiana said taking off her silver armour and placing it all into a wardrobe before pulling out black clothing. She pulled on right leather trousers and a black fitted shirt before a black leather armour chest plate and arm guards.

" Where are you going?" Zion asked her as she shook her head.

" I will tell you in the morning. I have no idea if this will work for us or lead to a dead end." Xiana explained as she pulled on her black boots.

"Why can't I come with you?"

"Because to get to this place I need to fly. I have already explained how dangerous that is. I need you safe and this is the safest place for you right now." With that, she stood up and walked over to the window of the room.

"Whatever happens you cannot leave this room. I mean it. I will be back at sunrise with food and equipment for our journey ahead." Xiana said as she then turned to walk to the door. As she opened it she stopped and looked at the prince.

" Do not go near the window and please, stay safe." She said as the prince nodded while looking at her amber coloured eyes.

" And you," Zion said as she smiled at him before leaving and closing the door. Xiana sighed and quickly made her way out of the inn and to her horse. When she reached the horse it jumped startled at her sudden appearance before settling allowing her to mount.

Xiana did not waste anytime and immediately pushed her horse into a fast canter out of the town. With having very little time she could only hope that this worked in her favour. Once she was out of the town and a good bit away, she pulled her horse to a complete stop and dismounted her in a clearing. Quickly tying the reins to a tree she rushed over to the middle of the clearing and looked to the sky.

" Yara!" She called loudly and waited for a minute before she heard the whooshing noise of her dragons wings. Then, throw the clouds. Yara appeared and landed gently in front of Xiana.

" Hello stranger," Xiana said as she walked over to her dragon, who dipped her head down to its Soul. Xiana wrapped her arms around Yara's nose and hugged the dragon. Yara's eyes closed in comfort at finally seeing her Soul in almost three days. Xiana pulled away softly and looked at her dragon.

" You are not going to like this, Yara," Xiana said to the dragon before her. "But we need to go and meet with Edward and Drago."

At her saying those names Yara growled deeply with smoke pouring from her nostrils and between her teeth. Xiana just chuckled gently and patted Yara's nose.

" Stop being so melodramatic. We need them if we even have a hope of winning the oncoming war." Xiana said as she walked around Yara and mounted her saddle.

" Come on, let's get this over with," Xiana told her and Yara threw out her wings and lifted them up into the air.
