| CHAPTER ONE |
The sky burst into colours, lighting up in pink, purples and blues which surrounded a dragon and it's rider. The clouds flew underneath them as they drifted at a gentle speed. The wind brushed through her red hair lifting it in ripples. The woman's eyes were closed as she took in a deep breath, feeling the blissful calmness wash over her being. Time seemed to stop at this moment, the same moment she has lived through so many times, but each time felt like the first. The rider put her arms out to her side and took her feet from her stirrups. After a moment she smiled and let herself slip off the saddle to her right.
The rush of air hit her as she freely feeling through the sky and into the soft fluffy clouds below her. She pointed her body downward and put her hands firmly on her sides and closed her legs, picking up speed. Once at a confident speed, the rider burst open her arms and legs quickly. This threw her body into a fast spin. The clouds zoomed past her as she dove through the white moist air. The clouds soon past so she could see the ground below her. She looked around to find her Dragon, who instantly caught her in mid-fall. The rider sat back in her saddle before dipping her body as close to the dragon's as possible to get better speed.
The pair flew quickly over the landscape dipping low and dodging tree in their way. The wind ripped past them as they tested their skills to their limits. A few bystanders watched in amazement as they flew past them on the ground. With a soft tug, the dragon instantly pulled upwards, flapping its wings to climb high before stopping and just hovering. The view they could see was a sight to behold. The rolling green landscapes stretched for miles before them, a small village just under them worked away at their daily chores. In the distance was the City of Mora, the Capital of the Kingdom. Her home.
" Let's go home." The rider muttered to her dragon as it let out a sound of joy as it opened its wings and pushed the closed, sending them both speeding towards the city. They made the long distance in under ten minutes. Cheers began to ripple through the air as the dragon and its rider flew over the city towards the centre. In the centre of Mora was the castle standing on a small hill. The white walls stood beautifully as the centrepiece and pride of the kingdom. On the tallest tower was the Flag of the royals, a golden Dragon upon a light blue coloured background. They circled the castle twice before descending down to the courtyard, where the King and his son now stood with their Knights. The dragon landed gracefully on the ground before standing proudly on all four paws. It outstretched its wings before letting out a roar of pride. The dragon settled down allowing it's rider to slip off her saddle.
" The Dragon and its Soul have returned!" The King called cheerfully as the rider walked forward towards him. She wore silver metal armour and chainmail. Attached to her over her right shoulder was a light blue cloak with a golden dragon sewn onto it, it covers all her arm and some. Her sword strapped to her waist on her left side.
" My King, It's is good to be home!" The rider called as she stopped in front of the King and bowed softly. The King chuckled and stepped forward to embrace the rider, which she happily returned.
" I understand the mission went well!" The King said with happiness in his voice.
" Yes, the treaty was agreed on and signed." The rider said her she reached behind her and pulled out a scroll of paper with a red ribbon holding it together.
"Wonderful! I knew I could count on you!" The King chuckled as they all turned and walked towards the castle. "We must celebrate with a feast under the stars tomorrow night!" The King cheered, The Riders shook her head softly, causing her red hair to move around her shoulders.
" Any excuse to throw a feast." A deep voice spoke behind her, she turned her head to see the prince dress in a deep royal blue jacket with gold trimming. His jet-black hair swept back sleek. His stubble cover jawline was square and strong. His ice blue eyes sparkled down to the rider. He looked the exact copy of his father, the king; just slightly younger.
" Your Father has always been lively and kind." The rider said as they continued to walk behind the king who was talking to a Knight. "Without him, I'd be lost."
" Yes, I believe we would all be lost without his guidance." The prince said proudly of his father. "There is something that I wish to ask you." The prince said softly taking the rider's hand in his own, pulling her to a stop and to face him. The rider looked up with soft green eyes, curiosity coating them. The prince held her hand in his as he cupped it with his other.
"Xiana, I was hoping that you would do me the honour of accompanying me to the feast?" The Prince asked her staring directly into her eyes. It was the first time in a while she had heard her name being spoken.
" Prince Zion, I would be honoured to accompany you." She smiled at him as they continued to stare at each other, not realising that the King had called for them until he called again louder.
" Come on you two! We have preparations to complete!" The King laughed with joy as they all made their way into the large Castle. The Prince and Rider side by side, behind them her dragon roared and flew off into the sky.
