Achilles POV

An alarm blared through the apartment and my eyes slowly open as my owner/best friend quickly tumbles out of her bed and slammed down on the clock to turn off the alarm. She then got up and began to get ready as I began to get myself up and took a look around trying to get where I was. I heard the sound of the water running as I continued to stare around the room. Finally I caught my eyes resting on an old photo of my adopted family.  It has been a couple of months since my owner had left her original school and her family. She hasn't taken leaving her family and everyone she knew very well, and I would know. Well, I just have to make sure that she can handle living by herself.

Miho: Come here Achilles.

I turned my head towards Miho and walked over to her. She knelt down and put a leash on my collar.

Miho: Remember, be on your best behavior.

I smiled and nodded. She smiled back and scratched the back of my head. I love head scratches.

Miho: Great, lets go.

We made our way to the door and I heard the sound of keys jingling. She locked the door and we made our way down the stairs and into the street. As we walk to Miho's new school a smell hit my nose and I began to drool. Mmmm, the smell of freshly baked bread. We began to walk past a building and I could tell Miho could smell the bread too as we got closer.

Miho: Mmmmm, that smells so good! Don't you think Achilles?

I wagged my tail with excitement and she giggled. We then passed a building that looks like a convenience store of some sorts.

Miho: We don't have those around my hou-

I heard a metallic clink and a sharp tug on my collar. I quickly turned around ready for a fight but all I saw was Miho, behind a metallic poll rubbing her head.

Miho: Sorry about that Achilles, I scared you didn't I?

Me: [Yes, please pay attention.]

She then looks at the sign on the pole and smiled.

Miho: That's strangely cute, right Achilles?

Before I could answer a group of girls in the same clothes as Miho walked past us talking about lunch. Then one of them notices me and begins to walk a bit faster. I felt sad from that and I think Miho notices this.

Miho: Don't worry, it might not be normal or an ex-Military dog to be here.

I noticed that she is trying to stay away from her new comra- I mean classmates. This isn't like her but I decided to play along for now.

Me: [Yeah, I guess.]

We then got in site to the school and we went inside the building. I saw a lot of people that I hope are nice. We made our way to our class and we are greeted by the teacher.

Teacher: Why is there a dog here?

Miho: Oh, I got permission from the principle to bring him here so I can keep an eye on him. I hope its nothing to big.

Teacher: Oh not at all. Just put him over there.

The teacher points to the corner that's far away from the door. Miho nods and got down on one knee taking off the leash.

Miho: You know where to go right?

I nodded and made my way to the corner before sitting down. I heard the bell ring to signal both the beginning of class and the beginning of my wait for the end of class.

Class was over and the bell for lunch rings. The students began to get up and leave the class, all talking about what they are going to get and where they should eat. I got up and made my way to Miho who was getting her stuff packed up. She then dropped her pencil and got down to pick it up however she bumped into her desk, causing all of her eraser and ruler to fall down. She tries to get out from under the desk however then her pencil case falls down and the clatter of pencils going everywhere was quickly followed. Miho simply sighed as I made my way over to her location. I grabbed the ruler with my mouth as she got her pencils in her pencil bag and puts it next to her papers in a neat stack. She then took the ruler from my mouth and put it on her notebook. 

Miho: Thanks Achilles.

She then scratches my head and I wagged my tail. Have I ever told you how much I love head scratches. Miho then turns around and begins to get ready for lunch when she suddenly stops. She is probably thinking about having to have lunch with no one she knows. I softly headbutted her leg and she looked down as I looked back up. She smiles however a voice caused both of us to jump in surprise.

???: Hey girl, you wanna go grab so-

I instinctively turned around and was ready to attack at whoever made the sound however Miho quickly grabbed my collar and pulled me to the ground.

Miho: Achilles!

Me: [ouch.....]

We both looked up and we saw two girls in the school uniform standing in front of us. One of them looked at me in terror while the other was completely calm.

??? 2: See Saori, you scared the dog and Miho.

Saori: Sorry about that.

??? 2: Anyway, do you and the dog want to have lunch with us?

Miho: Really?!

The two nodded and next thing I knew, we were at the lunch lines getting our food. I was standing next to the girl named Saori.

Miho has Saori on her left and on her right is a girl by the name of Hana.

Miho seems to be a bit uncomfortable however I could see that the two girls are nice so I tried to stay quiet.

Hana: We wanted to try and talk to you Miho.

Miho: R-really?

Saori: You seemed very jittery. We thought that was very interesting.

Miho: I-interesting...

I could tell Miho was getting more comfortable so I decided to continue to eat.

Both: Yeah.

Saori: I'm-

Miho: Saori Takebe. Born June, twenty second.

Saori: Huh?

Miho: Hana Isuzu. Born December sixteenth.

Hana: Correct.

Saori: Wow, you remembered our birthdays!

Miho: Oh, yeah. They where on the class list. I looked at it so I can get to know people and hopefully make friends easier.

Saori: As I suspected, interesting. Also who's your dog?

Miho: Oh, that's Achilles. He is my only family here and my best friend. Right Achilles?

Me: [Yeah!]

Miho smiled as Hana got down and extended her hand.

Hana: It's nice to meet you Achilles.

Saori: What are you doi-

I extended my paw and she shook it while Saori watched in surprise.

Saori: So cool!

Lunch lady: Here's your Teriyaki Salmon lunch.

Miho: Thank you.

Miho begins to do a small happy twirl however she lost her balance and would have tripped over if Hana and Saori weren't there to catch her. We then began to make our way to the tables and Miho seemed to be happier then ever.

Miho: I'm so glad that I was able to make new friends. I think I said this before but the only family I have is Achilles here.

She then scratches my head as I enjoyed my dog food. Ah I love head scratches.

Saori: Well I guess stuff like that does happen. You know like a complicated love triangle or someone saying they don't like you right before you confess to them, or your boyfriend cheats on you with multiple girls.

I tilted my head in confusion as Miho begins to giggle at my confusion.

Miho: Don't worry Achilles, you don't have to know.

I smiled and wagged my tail in understanding.

Hana: Did something happen to the rest of your family? Some in-fighting or something related to inheritance?

Miho: Nothing like that...

Hana: Then did your parents get transferred to a different office or something?

Miho began to get sad and I could tell her new friends where sorry for pushing their questions. I laid my head on Miho's lap and she looks down and smiles sadly. She then slowly stroked my head as she begins to get happier.

Hana: Sorry. We should probably eat before everything gets cold.

Saori/Miho: Right.

Me: [Agreed.]

We continue to eat our lunch and enjoyed the food and each others company. This reminds me of the peaceful times when I was deployed. It felt......nice. Let's hope nothing ruins this nice quiet life.

Third Person POV

With the Student Council.

Three shadows in a room talked with each other about something important. Something that might change the life of a certain student.

??? 1: Wouldn't that be manipulating things?

??? 2: It's ok.

??? 1: Understood.

??? 2: I'll take care of it immediately.

Achilles POV

The students where making their way back to their classes and I was with Miho who was sitting in her desk along with her new friends. The three where talking stuff so I decided to stay out of it.

Saori: I wanted to ask you something.

Miho: Huh?

Saori: I've been worried about something...

Well, it can't be that bad.

Saori: I'm a terrible women.

Hana: That again?

Saori: A lot of guys have been approaching me lately. What should I do?

Miho: A lot of guys?

Well it depends on if the guys are good or douches. If they are good, be nice back. If they are douche's, don't be nice to them. It worked for all the female officers.

Saori: Well the people who live near me every morning they are like "Hi there." and " You're doing well today!".

Hana: They're just saying hello to you....

Saori: I bet they are in love with me!

Me: [What?]

Miho looked at me also confused however she smiles and turns back to Saori.

Hana: Right...

Miho: Well Saori, you're a lively person and easy to approach. That's why everyone wants to be your friend, right?

Saori begins to blush from the compliments while I'm still confused on the whole situation.

Miho: Honestly, I think its amazing getting anyone with that mindset. I was really happy getting able to talk to you and having you as a friend.

I began to have tears in my eyes because of the friendship I see forming. It's good to see Miho happy, and when she is happy, I'm happy.

Hana: I think you're a great person as well Miho.

Miho: Huh?! Me, I'm not great at all!

I decided to step in and I placed my head on her lap looking up at her. She needs to remember that, everyone is special and great in their own way. It's just if we realize it or not.

Hana: It seems Achilles agrees.

Miho: But Hana, you're cool headed and got a strong hold of yourself....You seem really grown up. I'm really jealous.

Hana: No I....People always say I'm too uptight.

I was enjoying this conversation however I began to hear footsteps approaching our room. It's nothing abnormal so I ignored it.

Miho: Really? People always told me that I can't be depended on.

The footsteps where getting louder and louder and this time I can't ignore it. I began to swivel my ears around and listen if it still got closer.

Miho: How can I be more like you?

Hana: I use to do flower arrangements so maybe that's why.

I could defiantly hear the footsteps coming closer and closer. I lifted my head and stared at the doorway.

Miho: Wow! That's really cool. I always wanted to try that. It's so nice and bright.

I could see out of the corner of my eye that Hana was blushing but I directed my attention back at the door.

Miho: Well, I just want to say to both of you, thank you for being me and Achilles....friends....is something wrong Achilles?

By this point the footsteps where almost to the classroom and I had gone on full alert. Suddenly three girls came into the classroom and stood at the front. They began to look around their surroundings and I could hear whispers from Miho's classmates.

Girl 1: The Student Council President?

Girl 2: Why is she here?

One of the three, a tall girl with a monocle pointed at Miho however she seemed a bit on edge when she saw me. The shortest of the three nodded and waved at Miho.

??? 3: Hey Miho!

Miho: Yes, uhm.

Saori: It's the student council's president, vice president, and the PR.

Me: [I don't like where this is going.]

The three began to approach us and I instinctively placed myself in between Miho and the newcomers. The three stopped and the one with the monocle stepped forwards with an annoyed face on.

??? 2: Move out of the way.

Me: [Try me b*tch.]

They then looked at Miho who was clearly a bit scared by their presence.

??? 2: We need to talk.

Miho: Huh?

After a while they managed to get her outside the classroom and I quickly followed her as she walked outside. When we got to the door the monocle girl stepped in front of me and looked down at me with a cold stare.

??? 2: Stay out here.

I was not happy. I simply squeezed myself between her legs and the door and I rejoined Miho's side as Anzu, the Student Council President, introduced herself and her two associates. Monocle girl who is Momo the Vice President, and the last one which is Yuzu, the PR girl. Anzu was giving me some glances however who wasn't at this point.

Anzu: So, for your mandatory elective, take Senshado. Thanks.

Miho: Huh?

Me: [She didn't say anything.]

Miho: I thought this school didn't have a Senshado class.

She was starting to try and get away however Anzu put a hand over shoulder and Momo was closing in the box, trying to block her escape route. This isn't good. I quickly moved myself blocking Momo's blocking maneuver and she looked down at me with a bit of disdain.

Momo: Can someone get the dog away?

Miho: Don't-

Momo: Anyways we have restarted it this year.

Miho: But I transferred here so I did not have to do Senshado.

Anzu: Sounds like faith to me.

I began to get more upset and I started to growl. The girls looked at me in surprise or in Miho's case surprise and panic.

Miho: Achilles, calm down.

Momo: Seriously, can someone get the dog to be quiet.

Yuzu: That's a bit rude.

Anzu: Agreed. But we need an answer.

Miho: It's n-

Anzu: Yes? Ok great, thanks.

She then slaps Miho on the back and I began to loose my mind. Is this allowed?

As the three left one of the turned back and bowed a bit before leaving with the rest. I could see she was sorry but the damage has been done. I turned back towards Miho and saw her face exclaiming it all. I went up to her and softly headbutted her and she looked down. She knelled down and began to stroke my fur. I could tell she was feeling a bit better before she got back up and headed towards her class.

I made my way to the corner and the bell rang signaling class is starting again.

As she got to class she tries to focus but I could see her slipping off again.

Teacher: Next question.....Miho.

Miho didn't answer and the rest of the class got worried.

Saori: Miho.

Still no answer. I walked up and softly nudged her leg. She snapped out of it and quickly began to fumble around. This didn't help soften the teacher's worries.

Teacher: Are you alright? Do you feel sick? You should go to the nurse's office and you can bring your dog as well.

She got up and begun to sway back and forth so I put myself on one of her legs and tried my best to stabilize her.

Saori: Teacher, my stomach doesn't feel good!

Hana: My condition is causing me to have chest pain again.

Third Person POV

At the nurse's office the three girls where placed on beds and Achilles was sleeping in Miho's bed. Miho's arms where around him, hugging him, as she tries to get past what she has been told. The nurse who was  outside the sick area looked at them in concern.

Nurse: There is a lot of people who have not been feeling well. Rest quietly.

With that the nurse left, leaving the three girls and the dog alone. There was a silent moment quickly followed by the ruffling of bed sheets as Hana and Saori got out of their beds and looked towards Miho.

Saori: Miho.

Hana: Are you ok?

Miho was about to move however Saori stopped her.

Saori: If your sick you should try and not move.

Hana: If you need to go home early I can get your bag.

Miho: Thank you.

Saori: What did the Student Council President tell you anyways?

Hana: Please tell us.

Miho turned towards Achilles and began to hug him tighter as she remembers what Anzu told her.

Miho: She said that Senshado will be restarted this year.

Hana: Senshado....You mean the art for long girls with a long history?

Saori: What does this have to do with you?

Miho: She told me to choose Senshado as my elective.

Saori: Huh, why?

Miho hugs Achilles tighter as she the memories starts flooding into her head.

Miho: That's.....

Hana: Is she trying to bully you for some reason?

Saori: I got it. The president, you, and someone else are in a love triangle! A fiery ball of love?

Miho: No...

Hana: She went out of her way to ask you to pick Senshado.....Are you some sort of master fighter that has been through several historic wars? Having one on one battles, extorting people, going on rampages?

Miho: No...

Saori: Then what is it?

Miho: I....

Miho took a deep breath and starts to stroke Achilles fur as she begins to try and tell them her reason.

Miho: The truth is, I come from a family that has a long history of riding tanks.

Hana: Oh?

Saori: Really?

Miho: However, I didn't really have a lot of good experiences with tanks...That's why I came to this school: to avoid tanks.

Hana: I see.

Miho buried her face into Achilles furry back and fears for the worst.

Saori: So that's what happens, but why would you force yourself to do it in the first place?

Miho: Huh?

Saori: High school girls don't really do Senshado now anyways.

Hana: If you're going to refuse the student council, then we'll go with you.

Miho was in shock but she then smiles, happy that her friends won't leave her.

Miho: Thank you...

A small moment of silence follows however the bell rang waking up Achilles who began to move around under Miho's arms.

Miho: Oh, sorry about that Achilles.

Hana: I guess class is over. We were just relaxing.

Saori: Homeroom is the only thing left.

Suddenly the announcements came online and the four occupants of the nurse office turned to look at the speaker on the wall in confusion.

Announcer: Calling all students. Convene in the gym.

Achilles POV

We were in the gym with all the other students for an assembly of some sorts. We were waiting for it to start however by the way everyone is talking no one knows what the assembly is about.

Hana: This is how our Student Council operates.

Miho: I guess everyone just got use to it.

Momo: Quiet!

The gym got quiet in seconds and all eyes turned to the front.

Momo: We're starting the presentation of our school's mandatory electives.

The Student Council left the front and the lights dimmed. Soon a video that looks to be older then some of the people in the school begins to play.

I mostly ignored it however I could see Miho was getting a bit uncomfortable with the video. Suddenly I heard a loud boom and I got startled, then it starts coming back.

Suddenly I'm back, to that dreaded desert town. Soon small arms fire begins to erupt from the building to our right.

Martinez: Contact! Second floor!

Buck: Chris, get us some support!

Chris: I'm trying!

I began to panic, why am I here. Suddenly an explosion rocks the ground and I begun to see red. Then I saw him, lying on the ground.....motionless.....a pool of red around him....

???: Achilles! Achilles!

What, that voice.....is that?

Miho: Achilles!

I snapped back up and I could see that I was still in the gym. I was breathing heavily and sweating. I could see the girls around me where frightened out of their minds. What happened?

Miho: Achilles?

I looked up at Miho who looked like she had seen a ghost. She slowly puts her hand on my head and slowly rubs it. Then she pulls me into a hug and rocks me around.

Miho: It's ok.....you're fine. Your safe.

I began to feel better and I slowly began to fall asleep in her arms. Tears in my eyes.
