Elvis

Elvis

Watching her leave me everyday hurt. I know she had to go help out her mom sometimes, she is the manager of her factory. Or office. I'm not sure what it's called. Oh well, that's not the point.

The point is that Karrie is my best friend. She is who I love, and who I will one day marry.

If she ever sees me like that.

I don't think she realizes how long I've loved her, and how much I do.

She is really pretty. Her brown hair is always flowing with the wind and she has smooth looking skin I just want to touch...

She is also fun and hilarious! Who wouldn't want that?

I guess some creeping brooding guy. Batman?

Anyway, after she left, I had nothing to do. I had already written her a love song, but I wasn't ready to share it with her. I decided I should practice it since I had nothing better to do.

I walked home. My house isn't that far. Cars were all destroyed in 2084 to help with global warming, so nobody owned a car. I like it anyway.

At home, I went into my studio. Everyone had a studio. I stood up to the mic and hummed a little to warm up my voice.

I started singing the chorus.

Carry on, Karrie.
Carry on, Karrie.
Carry on, Karrie.
Carry on, Karrie,
With me.

I cleared my throat. It started sounding pretty good, actually. Just a little repetitive, but nothing too bad.

I just want to make you smile
I just want to make you laugh, Karrie.
I have no idea how.
Bet I could figure it out, Karrie.

I grabbed my guitar and started playing a tune I made a week ago for this song. I was ready to combine the guitar with my voice.

Karrie

Currently there was a band on stage called "Treble in Paradise". They were playing a country song that I never heard before.

It wasn't my favorite, but their performance was almost over. When the song ended, a host came on stage. They change hosts everyday, considering something was always playing at the Concert Center.

"Next we have Elvis singing a song called 'Carry on,'" the host announced.

Elvis? My Elvis? I thought. I tried looking over people's shoulders, but I'm too short.

I was engulfed in whispers.

Elvis? Who's that?

What's an Elvis?

What is this new guy singing?

I was jumping, trying to see. I gave up and tapped the person in front me's shoulder.

"I think that's my friend. Do you mind letting me stand in front of you so I could see him?" I asked politely.

"Go ahead," they said, moving out of my way.

I stepped forward to see Elvis, my Elvis, on stage. He had his guitar slung on one shoulder and he was holding the microphone.

"I would like to dedicate this song to my best friend," he said. There was a cheer from the audience. Someone yelled "Who are you?" And the crowd laughed.

I was astonished. He wrote a song for me? How sweet!

I've known you all my life
I see you every second, Karrie
You make me happy
I don't know what I'd do without you, Karrie

Is he stalking me? Just kidding, I literally do see him all the time.

Carry on, Karrie.

He said the same thing multiple times. His voice was very smooth, but soft. He might be nervous, which I totally understand.

Carry on, Karrie.
With me.

Wait what? With...him? Umm...

I just want to make you smile
I just want to make you laugh, Karrie.
I have no idea how.
Bet I could figure it out, Karrie.

Oh my god.

"Excuse me I need to leave," I told the person who move in front of them.

"No worries," they said. I wish there were more people like this one, so caring.

I ran out of the crowd and towards the stage entrance.

I took a deep breath.

I went on the stage and stood beside Elvis. I tapped his shoulder.

He jumped. The crowd laughed.

"Sorry," I giggled, "I just wanted to be with you onstage while you were singing... about... this Karrie person," I finally managed to say. He smiled.

"Next time, come after I'm done alright? But of course you can be up here with me," he said, moving aside. I grabbed his arm.

He continued on his guitar while I stood there, watching him in awe.

"Don't be nervous, El. The feeling is mutual," I whispered.

As he finished the song (with more obvious confidence), I looked out into the audience. I waved. Nobody waved back, but I wasn't expecting it. Elvis' voice was mesmerizing.

I can't believe this is happening.

I'm singing up here next to my best friend.

After the performance, Karrie grabbed me and she hugged me. The audience awed, which I didn't mind at all.

We walked off of the stage, and then the press surrounded me. Karrie got lost in the crowd, and I was overwhelmed with cameras and microphones.

"Who is the lucky lady?" Someone asked.

"You just pushed her away with your huge camera!" I yelled.

"What inspired your song?"

"The lady who you just pushed away with your giant camera!"

"Why did you write this song?"

"Because I was expressing my feelings towards the girl you just pushed away with your giant camera! Get out of my way!"

I pushed at the people, but it seemed like the crowd wasn't ending.

I wish I had a rope so I could Indiana Jones my way out of this.

"Who even are you?" Someone asked.

"My name is Elvis, did you not hear the announcer?"

"Yea but what are you like?"

"None of your business, can I go now?"

Then a really loud alarm went off.

"What is that?" I wondered aloud. I looked around and everyone was filing out of the room. My phone buzzed, which indicated that I got a text.

From Karrie-
I pulled the fire alarm. Meet me our secret spot.

I grinned at my phone.

I ran through the crowd of people and walked around the back way.

"Karrie?" I called.

"Up here," she yelled. She was sitting in a tree.

I climbed up the tree and sat next to her on the branch.

"Hey, great idea with the alarm," I said.

"Thanks, I hope I don't get in trouble," she replied.

"I hope not, too," I said.

And then she did something I have been waiting for since I met her.

She kissed me.

I just wanted to share this is the first chapter I've ever written with 1000 words, it actually had a total of 1119. Just wanted to share because I'm proud of myself, LOL.

Thanks for reading.
