Risk is always there, darling

During the evening, when all the Avengers were assembled in a room, Shuri discussed about the things that Morgan and she had talked about in the morning. Morgan simply sat in a bean-bag chair, occasionally saying a few ‘yes’ and ‘no’; but actually she was thinking about the argument between Peter and her. ‘How can he say that?’ Morgan thought, ‘has he forgotten that…last time, if only they had planned it, I don’t know how, but just somehow, then maybe…maybe dad would have been here.’ As time passed, she became so tangled in her thoughts that Wanda had to shake her back to reality. “Huh? What? What happened?” Morgan said, panicking. “Nothing much, except that we all have one question now, what were thinking about, so intently?” Wanda asked.
Morgan looked at the eyes staring at her. ‘Okay, they are confronting me, don’t panic,’ Morgan thought. She then took a deep breath and then said, “I was thinking about the pros and cons of activating the portal.” This wasn’t a complete lie, she had been thinking about it. “Okay, so how many pros?” Carol asked. “Till now, I have figured out three: first, by activating the portal and then sealing it, we will be saving our world from the threat of an invasion.  Second they might become our friends, and then in the time of some other crisis, they might come to help us. And the third, we’ll gain knowledge about the parallel universes. You see, if there are two, then who knows that there are more than two or not?” Just then Peter said, “It all depends on our hunt for the center of that universe being successful. And wait, how many con are there?” Morgan’s blood boiled, but she managed to stay calm and say, “Just one Parker; and it is- When we activate the portal, we can’t seal it then and there. It needs a little time, 2 weeks at least. And those two weeks could become fatal.”
“Why to activate the portal, huh? Give me a valid reason, except the other 3 you gave,” Peter asked. Morgan seriously wanted to slap him. But she didn’t; she said, “I thought that I had made myself clear yesterday, but unfortunately, due to brain’s slow power to register things, I have to explain it yet again. I hope you get it this time: I saw the portal, which means they can also see it. And if they turn out to be vicious and ambitious creatures, then of course they will attack, and we will be unprepared, again. That would be really, really dangerous for umm… everyone.” “Well, why not just stay prepared?” Sam asked. ‘I thought that he was on side,’ Morgan thought.  Then she answered with a question, “Don’t you think that when they will come they will come in large groups, ready to destroy everything, and even innocent people?” That did the job.
“Hey, didn’t you say that that activating the portal could be fatal?” Peter asked. “Risk. Risk is always there, darling. We have to take it,” Morgan said. That left Peter in thought. But in a moment or so, he recovered and fired another question, “How will we be able to fight a whole universe?” “Peter, don’t think about violence, if we would be able to do it silently, then we would,” Morgan said, in a tone that made it clear that the questioning session is over. “So no more queries, right?” Morgan asked everyone in the room. “Okay, so tomorrow, we will activate the portal,” Shuri announced.  No one objected. Then after dinner they went to sleep. Morgan and Wanda were last to move out. In the hallway, Wanda asked Morgan, “Is something wrong between you two?” “Nah, Peter is just being is usual jerky self,” Morgan answered. “I never mentioned Peter,” Wanda stated. Morgan had been caught off-guard. She stammered something about their friendly arguments, and rushed into her room. Wanda stood at the door, waiting for something. Morgan sensed her and threw her room’s door open. “What?” Morgan snapped. “I can read minds,” Wanda told her. “And…you will not try to read mine,” Morgan warned. “I can help you, if you want,” Wanda said. “No, I don’t,” Morgan said slamming the door shut in Wanda’s face. Wanda still stood there, waiting for something to happen, she felt like something was about to happen. But nothing, nothing happened. Then she went to her room thinking about what would find in Morgan’s mind if she ever tried to read it. Would she try? No, most probably. Morgan had said that nothing happened between Peter and her, but there was something, something that would destroy everything, still she didn’t quite know.

Something is about to happen,” Wanda thought to herself as she went to sleep.'
