I shouldn't have activated the portal
"Goodness, she knows how to fight,” Morgan muttered, skidding across the room. Morgan had never been I combat before, but with Meg’s help, she was able to fight defend herself. “Meg…is...it…ready?” Morgan said while trying to get out of the monster’s grip. “I am working on it; Heat Flare!” Meg replied. Morgan’s suit heated up, the monster dropped her. “Thanks,” Morgan said, firing more lasers. “Meg, this won’t last long,” Morgan said, firing ‘fire’ this time. “Yes, I can see that,” Meg said, "Morgan! Watch out! Recruits are coming!" "Stop them!" Morgan shouted, "Where are the so-called-Avengers?" "Well, they are running around the house, apparently looking for their suits," Meg answered. "They are hopeless," Morgan said. “Morgan bad news: the recruits crossed the barriers with ease," Meg informed. "That's the last straw! Whiplashes! ON!" Morgan bellowed. "Morgan they are not yet- fine! Just don't shock yourself!" Meg said as the recruits barged in. Whiplashes elongated from the wrists of Morgan's suit. Electricity surged through them. Morgan grabbed one of the ‘very-weird-looking' soldiers and electrocuted him. ‘Whoa!' Morgan thought and then screamed, "Bring it on!" Every soldier who was dumb enough to attack was dead in a matter of seconds. The lady-monster was the last one to charge, Morgan grabbed her by the whiplashes and…440 volts! Her body went limp. Morgan freed her and then asked Meg to scan her mind.
“Morgan, would you believe me if I say that this lady knows nothing about that universe,” Meg asked. Morgan sighed and then said, “Show me.” “I would have been happy to show you, but…if you could find a working screen in your lab, that would be amazing,” Meg said. Morgan looked around, and there was not a single unbroken screen. “Wow…look at the destruction,” Morgan muttered. “It took me years to build this lab, and these filthy beasts; they destroyed it in less than an hour.” “Meg, I will keep her hostage. Lock this lady up,” Morgan said. “Morgan nothing in your lab is working; so, do that yourself,” Meg said. “Oh goodie…Alright,” Morgan said and grabbed the lady by the forearms. “She…is...HEAVY,” Morgan grunted, as she struggled to pull the lady to the nearest chair. She was almost there when the lady stirred; as a reflex action, Morgan electrified her, and she fell down, dead.
“No, No, NO! Wake up! Wake up! I don’t wanna go to jail!” Morgan said, panicking. “Morgan, if someone will start fining you for murders, then you will spend your next five lives in prison; why are you panicking over killing someone who tried to kill you?” Meg asked. “Meg, don’t be stupid; this lady was innocent: you scanned her brain, what did you find? Nothing! I killed an innocent person!” Morgan wailed. “Let’s just pretend you did not say that; Morgan, you are an Avenger! Killing bad guys is your job!” Meg argued. “Meg, I am NOT an Avenger. And killing bad guys is NOT my job. And this lady was INNOCENT!” Morgan said. “Dare you call her innocent! She imprisoned your mom AND tried to kill you!” Meg said. “Mom? Mom! How do I find my mom?” Morgan said, suddenly panicking.
Just then the Avengers arrived. “I want to kill you guys! Where were you? You left a 14-year-old girl in charge of killing monsters!” Morgan yelled, un-suiting herself. “Morgan, calm down-” Carol started. “CALM DOWN?! YOU ARE ASKING ME TO CALM DOWN? My mom is MISSING!” Morgan screamed, her eyes stinging. “Morgan, can you just sit down? Can we talk?” Wanda asked. Morgan knew that Wanda could understand how she is feeling, probably because of her mind-reading powers. Morgan looked around: Peter, Shuri, Bucky, and The Guardians were not there. Morgan was a little relieved; if Peter would have been here, then he would probably be shooting Morgan ‘I-told-you-so’ looks. Morgan’s mom was missing, or rather imprisoned, for no apparent reason, only because of…Morgan. Morgan sat down-literally; she sat on the floor, which was littered with shards of who-knows-what stuff. She rolled herself into a ball; a miserable ball, which caused trouble. “Now what? This wasn’t in my plan,” Morgan’s muffled voice reached Wanda. “You wanna know the funny part about being an Avenger?” Wanda asked tenderly. Morgan looked up. “We rarely follow a plan; in our world, nothing goes according to so-called plans,” Wanda told her. Morgan had to smile. Seriously, since when had she started to follow plans and time-tables? She was not wired to do stuff like that; she can only do stuff when she is out of the bondage of time and plans. "Okay, but now, I did put you guys in unnecessary trouble, right?” Morgan asked. Wanda shook her head. “We, Avengers, are always in trouble," she said. "I shouldn't have activated the portal," Morgan said, on the verge of having a meltdown. "Look who's talking! The same girl, who had been so-oo persuasive on activating a stupid
no-good-whatsoever portal, only to safeguard this world, right? You can’t back off now,” Wanda teased. “But-but…Peter was right,” Morgan said. She half-expected Peter to jump right in and say, “I’m always right.” ‘Geez Morgan, stop thinking about that spider-boy!’ Morgan thought when she caught herself daydreaming thinking about Peter thrice. ‘Is Wanda messing with my emotions?’ Morgan thought. She took a sneak-peek at Wanda’s hands; no red mist. Then she started to think of various ways to get her mom out of this…situation. But somehow, they all ended on Morgan thinking about Peter again. ‘Only he stopped me, maybe he can see the future? No dumb thought Morgan,’ Morgan scolded herself. ‘What if…he can bring my mom back? Like…but how? I can think that this Dr. Strange can bring my mom back with some magic, but why on earth am I thinking that Peter could do that? He is nothing Morgan,” she kept on thinking.
‘But what if…’ her thoughts got cut off when she heard Carol saying, “This place is not safe.” “Not safe?” Morgan asked. “Yes; even being the safest location it is not safe, like, how ironic is that?” Carol said. Morgan was astounded, but it was the bitter truth, just because of her, nobody was safe.
“It’s entirely my fault,” Morgan thought.
