Did you beat my clone with a baseball bat?

Once inside her house, Morgan tip-toed towards her bedroom. She had reached home well-and-good but, watching her mom savoring strawberries, that would be too much for Morgan to handle. She had barely reached for the doorknob when… “MORGAN STARK! Where do you think you are going?” Morgan turned around, slowly, and found her mom staring at her angrily. “Where have you been?” She asked. “Mom, see, we can talk about this over tea or coffee, or something, you know… I have a lot to tell you,” Morgan squeaked. “YOU ARE GROUNDED!” Pepper yelled. “Mom chill! Wait for a while, listen to what I have to say for my defence, and then ground me, okay?” Morgan said. “No! I don’t want to hear any of your cock-and-bull stories, you are grounded, which means you are; would you defy your mom, again?” Pepper said in a ‘have-I-made-myself-clear’ tone. "You know what? Yes, I will! You are not listening to me, so what’s the need of forcing you to?” Morgan said looking straight into her mother’s blue eyes. But this time they weren’t blue; they were black. That hit Morgan, but she kept quiet. “Uhh, Okay, I will listen to you,” Pepper said, sweating. ‘My mom never changed decisions, well at least not so easily, what’s wrong with her now?’ Morgan thought. Then she asked, “Where is my clone?”

“MOM! What happened to my clone?” Morgan asked, cradling at a dented-clone-body. “It broke down,” Pepper answered. “Mom, I made it with perfect precision, it cannot break down like that,” Morgan said straining to keep calm. “It short-circuited due to exposure to water,” Pepper said. “Mom, it was made waterproof,” Morgan said, her teeth clenching. “See darling, now this stupid clone doesn’t matter,” Pepper said. “Mom, firstly, this clone matters, secondly, this clone isn’t stupid, and third, did you beat my clone with a baseball bat?" Morgan said, standing up. "Morgan…yes, I did that," Pepper confessed.  Morgan was too shocked to react; how could her mom, who had always encouraged her every good-for-nothing creation, break down her best one? “Morgan, you are grounded, and I have changed some rules for ‘grounding’: you will seal both of your labs and give me that suit of yours, plus you will shut down you’re A.I.” Pepper stated. Morgan was still too shocked to pay attention to what Pepper said. She simply pulled off her necklace, got out of her lab and asked Meg to seal the doors to the labs. Then she ‘ordered’ Meg to go.
“Now, that’s my sweet, little cupcake,” Pepper said, walking away leaving Morgan alone in the hallway.
When Morgan came out of her shock, she was boiling inside. "So, this lady is an imposter, pretending to be my mom, who has confiscated my suit, lab, and Meg. What does she think of herself? I will show her who the boss here is," Morgan muttered to herself. But just to be sure, she decided to test the lady again. Morgan went down to the kitchen and found her there. “Mom, what’s for lunch?” Morgan asked. “Lunch?” The lady said. “Yeah,” Morgan said, innocently. “Oh, new rules for when you are grounded, you will make the food,” the lady said. This made Morgan as sure as hell that the lady was not her mom; no mother, no matter how angry, would let her kid go without food. But, a plan was forming in Morgan’s head; she decided to play along. “Okay, but you never taught me how to cook,” Morgan said. “That’s your problem,” the lady said. “I’ll rather eat crisps than burn down the whole house while trying to cook,” Morgan said, walking out of the room.
Morgan ran to her mother’s room, got inside as quietly as possible and went to the nightstand. She opened the first drawer, then the second, then the third and…voila! Her pendant was there, glittering like a hundred diamonds. She took it and went down to her room. There, she opened her closet, and behind the rail of coats, she pushed a button. Then she crawled under her bed, and sure enough, there was a heart-shaped, gleaming silver plate. She pushed it aside and went jumped in.
This was Morgan's secret lab, level zero. There was only one computer and the space was super-small. Morgan switched on the computer and checked a few files. Then she climbed back up. She covered the secret-passage and crawled out, from under the bed. Then she closed her closet door and went out of her room towards her lab. Once there, she suited up and broke open her lab. Alarms screeched. Morgan cursed. But anyway, she got inside and plugged a pen drive in the jack. Then she waited; she didn’t have to wait long. A lady came running in. “Oh Morgan, why, why? Why do you wanna die early?” She sneered. “Mrs. Imposter, I won’t die, and if you co-operate, even you might live,” Morgan answered. “We will see,” the lady said and started to change form. She was some monster from the nightmare of the monsters in your worst nightmares. Morgan suited up and then asked, “Where is my mom?” “Morgan, do you know that when you activated the portal, you did the worst mistake of your life?” the monster sneered. “You are from that side?” Morgan asked in disbelief. “Yes, and now your dear mother is in our high-security prison,” she cackled. “What enmity do I have with you? How did you find my house? And why on earth did you imprison my mom?" Morgan asked, fuming. "Villains have to act like villains, right? Looking for your house was easy; it was securely guarded, so it attracted me. And for why did I imprison your mom, you little creatures should have a reason to fight, am I correct?” the lady said, attacking.
“Force-field!” Morgan shouted. The creature struggled to move forward.  “Meg, inform the Avengers,” Morgan muttered.  Then she raised her hand and…

Remember: You started it, we’ll end it,” Morgan said, firing lasers.
