Sans was frozen. Papyrus was alive. He was ok. He was pissed, but perfectly fine. Relief overwhelmed his shock and confusion and he fell to his hands and knees with the weight of it. "oh thank asgore..!" And he sobbed at Papyrus feet. Papyrus initial anger faded into discomfort. Sure Sans had been at his mercy in this position many, many times, but never once had Sans ever cried. Papyrus didn't know what to do or how to react. Undyne scoffed quietly, but said nothing more. "SANS... I- I'M WAITING." Papyrus said lamely, unable to muster the will to comfort Sans.

Sans expected as much and sobered himself of, his initial relief was caving into realization and anxiety. They wanted answers. Answers that Sans had been purposely hiding for all these years. "j-just... just give me a second ta gather myself. And what about them? They were alive this whole time? Watching Sans world slowly crumble away again? Was this some sort of fucking prank? Relax. It's ok. Now was not the time to get pissed, even if he had every reason to. "welp..." Sans took a breath and stood back up shakily. "for starters, i'm the judge."

"Y-you're the w-what!?" Alphys squawked. Sans rolled his pinpricks. "uh huh. been th' judge since i was 14. when th' third soul fell down... i was th' one that took 'em out. got th' job ta support m'self an' pap. finally got a house, an' pap could get an education.." Sans grin was strained. "How'd you get strong enough to do that?" Undyne asked. "life problems and years of intensive training to destroy humanity." Sans stated, hoping they wouldn't ask for him to go into detail. "WHAT SORT OF LIFE STUFF? WHY WERE YOU TRAINING TO DESTROY HUMANITY?" Stars dammit.

Sans shook his head. "i-i can't answer that on m' own. let's go ta th' lab if ya really want th' answer.." Sans started walking, the others following him. "one thing ya need ta understand, we weren't born th' traditional way. we were born as weapons o' war. none o' this was ever supposed to happen." Sans said lowly. "you'll see what i mean when we get ta th' lab.." It made Frisk shiver while Papyrus looked confused, Undyne looked skeptical, and Alphys was curious. What was Sans hiding?
