Chp 56 - Annabeth's POV
(A/N: Sorry about the delay, I had two busy weeks, but now I have space to breath for two days, before my exam week start at college. But, since I'm a good author, I have three more chapters ready to publish during this week)
Annabeth's Flashback
A: So, what are you going to do tomorrow?
P: I'm going to get Leo for Jason.
A: Only Leo?
P: I'm thinking in dragging Frank along.
A: Can you drag Nico too?
P: Sure, but why?
A: Hazel asked. She thinks he needs to get out, stay in the sun a little. Can you do that for me?
P: You know I'll do anything for you.
A: Good, then drive Will too.
P: Why?
A: Piper asked. She's afraid he is going insane spending time only with the girls.
P: Good. So Will can deal with Nico. What are YOU going to do tomorrow?
A: Spend some time with the girls. Piper said she need help to choose her outfit.
P: I thought she just wore whatever was easy to grab.
A: That's what you do. But she's excited for this date with Jason.
P: Maybe I could take you on a date someday, what do you think?
No, no and NO!
Gods, he said it like a joke.
The answer it's still NO! I WON'T go on a date with Peter. A real one or in a joke!
Hum...
What?
Nothing. It just that at first, I thought Percy was an idiot whom I could barely befriend, let alone like. And now...
No!
Maybe your hate for Peter...
No!
... is just a prequel...
No!
... to something else?
NO!
What if he's your soulmate?
NO!
Don't you want to find out?
NO! IF, and that's a really big and fat IF, he was my soulmate, my destiny would be twisted and wrong, and I want nothing to do with it!
Flashback over, back to present
Reyna entered Piper's room and looked around her.
"Is Will late?"
Piper answered.
"He's not coming"
"Why not?"
Annabeth answered without closing her book.
"Because Percy took him to spend the day with the boys"
"Why?"
"Because I was afraid he was going insane if he spent another day with us"
I still find it difficult to imagine that inside such an annoying cheerleader, there's a guy who is a hero.
I didn't know you met the Will-cheerleader before.
Personally? No, I didn't, but I saw or heard her once in a while; and believe me, she was annoying.
Reyna arched a eyebrow in Piper's direction, who was opening all the drawers on Trish's wardrobe.
"What are you looking for?"
"Clothes"
Piper droped a pile of clothes on the bed and went back to the closet.
"Are you going on a date with Jason or walk on a runway?"
Piper snorted: "Like I could be a model"
Reyna rolled her eyes, and answered with irony.
"Really? A daughter of Aphrodite as a model? What was I thinking, that's a silly idea!"
Piper glared at Reyna, but said nothing.
Hazel was checking the clothes on the bed.
"Piper?"
"Yes?"
"I don't see any dress or something like that"
Piper looked over her shoulder to Hazel.
"So what?"
"I thought you wanted to look nice for your date with Jason?"
"I do. But that doesn't mean dresses"
"Why not?"
"Really? I have a chance to go on a date with my boyfriend, without ANY chance to have my mom finding out and choosing my outfit. So I'll dress nice, but I'll be still me"
"And that means..."
"Jeans, t-shirt and sneakers. But cute jeans, a fitting t-shirt and clean sneakers. If Trish have one"
I like her.
Yes, so do I. What about Trish, do you think you would like her?
No idea. She writes about gossips, right? Nha, I don't think we could be friends.
If she's like Piper, there's a reason for her to write about gossips.
Maybe she likes it.
Piper is not your typical Aphrodite's daughter. She doesn't like gossips, makeup, heels or stylish clothes.
Maybe Trish likes it.
Looking at her room and her wardrobe, I think it's unlikely. She's more like Piper than a typical daughter of Aphrodite. I think I'll ask her.
"Piper? Can I ask why does Trish write about gossips? I can't see you doing it, so why she did it?"
Piper looked up and sighed.
"That's actually a little complicated. First, let me tell you about Claire..."
***
Reyna was looking angry at Piper.
"Really? You called all of us here, so you could choose your outfit in fifteen minutes, by yourself?"
"Like you could give me some advice"
"Exactly why I thought it was so weird you called me. But still, you took barely fifteen minutes, and half of that time was telling us about Claire"
"What? I'm not like my brothers and sisters"
What if she was? What would have happened?
She would start looking for clothes two weeks before, and dragged us through at least thirty different stores, all of them of branded clothing.
So I'm happy she's not like her brothers and sisters.
"So why are we all here?"
"To spend some quality time between girls. We can barely look at each other at school. I have a class with Percy on Monday, and a class with Will on Wednesday. And that's it"
Annabeth sighed.
"You're lucky, I only have a class with Reyna, on Wednesday"
Reyna nodded.
"Besides that one, I have a class with Percy, on Friday"
Hazel was with a sad expression.
"Since I'm younger, I don't have classes with you... But I have classes with Nico, on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday"
"What about the boys? Does any of them have classes with each other?"
"As far as I know, no"
I wish I could have a class with Percy.
And I'm glad we don't have any. I think that, it wouldn't matter how much I screamed, you would ruin my reputation before the end of the class.
I wouldn't need to talk with him. Just... look at him.
That's the point! You still look at him like he's the most amazing thing in your life.
He IS the most amazing thing in my life.
I know, and everytime you talk about him in front of the mirror, I can see the dreamy look in your eyes. Still, what would really concern me would be him, not you. Doesn't matter how obvious you're about him, he's worse.
And that's bad?
In our case? Terrible! How could I explain that to my friends?
***
After a moment, Reyna spoke up.
"I have a gossip"
Annabeth was surprised at hearing this.
"You do?"
"Well, I have something to tell you. I'm not sure it can be called a gossip... Anyway"
Piper was smiling excited.
"Tell us everything!"
Reyna raised an eyebrow with a smirk.
"I thought you weren't like your brother and sisters, to love a gossip..."
Piper glared at Reyna for the provocation, but just shrugged after.
"I'm not. This is not a gossip about some stranger. This is news about a friend's life, most likely about the life of the one telling it. So, what happened to you?"
Reyna was taken aback.
"How did you know it was with me?"
It was Annabeth's turn to snicker.
"Please, Reyna, even I knew that. You're not the type to tell anything about someone else's life. So, what happened to you?"
"Adam happened to me"
Annabeth was confused, since she couldn't remember anyone called Adam.
"Wait, Adam? Who is he?"
Piper spoke right after.
"Trish is asking which of the Adams. The one from the science class with the blue and red backpack, the one from the swimming team, the one from the Mathletes..."
What? No, she's mistaken.
"Wait, there isn't an Adam on the Mathletes"
"Trish is saying there is"
Oh, please, I'm a member of the Mathletes almost since I started school. There is no Adam, and there has never been, I would know that.
"No, Annie is sure about it"
"Trish is sure there's a boy named Adam. She remember this because she thinks about him as the disgusting guy with the name from the Bible"
Oh, I think I know who is she talking about.
That guy with the curly and messy hair?
Messy? That thing is untamed! It has almost a mind of its own.
Since when do you care about someone's hair?
Since I studied beside him and my arm was covered in dandruff! If he wants to keep a long hair, he could at least wash it!
"Isaac?"
"Oh, yes, that one. It was a little misunderstanding. So, which Adam?"
Reyna rolled her eyes.
"Now you remember I'm here? Anyway, I don't think he studies in our school, we never saw him there. But he's always on the door from a gym I pass by on my way home"
"And?"
"And... he decided to stalk me! You don't agree, Piper?"
Piper stoped making a face like she didn't agree.
"It's not that, it's just Trish complaining about stalkers"
"Does she have a stalker?"
"No, she was called a stalker, more than once"
Hazel brought the subject to focus.
"Why are you saying he's a stalker?"
"He started to wait outside the gym for me to pass by, so he can try and talk to me"
"Is he handsome?"
Reyna, Annabeth and Hazel raised their eyebrows at Piper. She just snickered.
"Trish is asking, but I'm curious too"
Reyna shrugged and answered like it was nothing, but Annabeth could see it had more in it.
How can you be sure?
I don't why exactly, maybe because I'm a daughter of Athena, greek goddess of war strategy, and Reyna is daughter of Bellona, roman goddess of war, but I know Reyna almost as good as I know myself. This Adam guy, he made a better impression on her that she's letting us know.
"I guess he can be called handsome. But he's a stalker"
Annabeth suspected Hazel could sense Reyna was hiding something too, since she was fighting a smile when she asked.
"What are you going to do about it?"
"Well, he asked... insisted for me to try a class of Krav Maga"
Hazel looked to Annabeth and Piper, maybe thinking this was greek.
"Kra what?"
Piper shook her head to Hazel.
"I have no idea"
Annabeth answered, since she once looked it up, just out of curiosity.
"It's a martial art focused on self defense"
Piper was looking at Reyna, trying to act like it was nothing.
"And... are you going?"
"Yes, on Monday"
"Why?"
"So he can stop bothering me"
"Do you think it'll work?"
"Ignoring his talking wasn't working, so I'm trying something new"
Piper just nodded, smiling a little.
"I guess it can't hurt. In the best case scenario, you learn something about self-defense. Not that you need it, but still, you never know. And maybe, just maybe, you can discover this Adam guy is not that annoying"
Reyna rolled her eyes at Piper's tone.
"Believe me, he is. And you don't have charmspeak in this world to convince me otherwise, Piper, don't think I didn't notice you trying"
"I have no idea what you're talking about"
Piper stood up and went to turn on Trish's notebook. She met Annabeth's eyes and mouthed.
"Silly, she still can't see"
Annabeth wasn't sure about what Piper was talking exactly, but she didn't had time to think, because Piper was back on the bed, with the notebook on her lap. Hazel eyed that with a mix of dread, regret and maybe a little puzzled too.
"What are you going to do with that?"
"WE are going to stalk the stalker"
"What?"
"We're stalking Adam's social medias"
Reyna was uncomfortable with that.
"How? I know nothing about him"
"We know his first name, that he likes you, and Krav Maga and lives in this city, or close enough. We can find him"
Annabeth was a little amazed with Piper's otimism.
"Do you think you can do it?"
"With Trish's help? Please, she only took four hours to find a guy, and the only thing she knew about him is that he had a small scar, almost invisible under his chin"
