Ok so it has come to my attention that the light novel did something that in my eyes is just... ew

What did it do? It made Gilbert and Violet a couple. Granted Gilbert did fall for her when she grew up but that STILL doesn't excuse the fact that THEY

1. Have a MASSIVE age gap. I understand that it was a different time period and that the Drossel marriage was a thing. But as someone from the 21st century, that's gross in my eyes. And with the Drossel Marriage, I'm pretty sure that Charlotte was 16 i.e the age of consent (in my state at least) and it was also a union marriage to show that the two countries were forming an alliance.

2. The anime showed Gilbert taking care of Violet. He even called her a child. And yes, the way he said "I Love You" was of the romantic form in Japanese. BUT, The way they show them interacting before hand makes it come off as a father taking care of his daughter. So yeah I find that to be VERY peculiar

3. Ugh.... the war flashbacks. This plotline... reminds me of the Onision situation. Where Onision adopted a 15 year old girl and as soon as she turned 18, proceeded to.... do the thing with her. Granted that's a very severe comparison but I cant help but think its very similar and it ruins this whole Violet and Gilbert thing for me. Also Onision should be in prison. Chris Hansen do something lol.

4. Violet in NO WAY HAS BEEN SHOWN TO HAVE ROMANTIC FEELINGS TO GILBERT!! This is coming from someone who has only watched the anime and not read the light novel so yeah. Violet to me seems like a girl who lost the one person who took care of her. Not a girl who lost the love of her life.

Please please please! I PRAY that the movie will not have Gilbert and Violet become a thing. That's gross. Think if this situation happened nowadays. I'm pretty sure the Po Po would look at this and be like MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmm (especially since he said I love you in a romantic way to a f-ing girl who was around the age of 13)

Also Violet and Leon makes more sense lmao. They're both around the same age, are both orphans, lost people they care about (well Violet *tries not to throw up* gets hers back)

Oh and did I forget to mention that when Gilber met VIOLET WHEN SHE WAS LIKE WHAT, 10?!

I love this series. But after hearing what the LN did, its a bit ruined for me.
