Chapter Three- I get tangled up in a volleyball game

I was so confused. Was the term half-blood supposed to be offensive or racist?

We were about 50 feet away from the camp, when the pegasi touched ground on a hill by a large tree. On the lowest branch was some kind of yellow shiny fleece.

I immediately got off and started pacing.

"This is crazy." I ran my fingers through my hair. "I must have fallen down the stairs at school, and this is a dream."

"No, it's not." Malcolm got off of his pegasus and started walking them both over to the camp. "Welcome to Camp Half-blood, a camp for demigods, located on Long Island."

"Say that part again?" I started walking, disbelieving everything.

"'located on Long Island'?"

"No, the part about demigods. Aren't those half mortal-half god people from Greek myths?"

He nodded, and let go of the oreo colored horse. I wrapped my left arm around his neck, and it felt really soft.

"But isn't that all that they are? Myths?"

Malcolm looked partially horrified. "Of course not! I'm a demigod myself."

"Really." I rolled my eyes as we went into the clearing. There was a volleyball court about a hundred feet away, and a building farther off.

"Little help guys!" Malcolm waved at the kids playing volleyball. They stopped, looked surprised, and ran over.

"Hey Malcolm!" A little girl with blonde hair and gray eyes like him said.

"Hey, kiddo." Malcolm ruffled her hair. "Can someone go get Chiron, and others put these pegasi away?"

The little girl ran away to the big blue house, and a few guys took the pegasi. I felt kind of bad, because I really liked that oreo horse.

"My head's still spinning." I put my hand on my forehead.

"New addition?" A guy asked.

"Some-what." Malcolm answered for me with a smile.

"Hold up." I held up my hands. "What am I doing here? Why was I brought here?"

"Ah, Ms. Katherine Moone!" A voice behind me said. I winced, because no one ever says my full name.

I turned around, and saw the strangest thing (so far). A guy with brown hair and a scruffy beard wearing a shirt saying my other car is a centaur. He was trotting toward me, and yes I mean trotting. His waist was connected to a white palomino horse body, which made me think that his shirt was ironic.

"Chiron? The Chiron?" I blinked slowly.

He gave me a warm smile. "So you have heard of me. Good. Far less explaining."

Chiron turned to Malcolm. "Thank you for your help. Are you to be on your way soon?"

Malcolm thought. "Well, the police are after me, but that's nothing new for us." He smiled. "I'll just lie low in another part until it dies down. Or I can use the Mist."

Chiron nodded. "Very well. You can go around camp to get any other supplies you need."

"Will do. Good luck Kat." And he was off.

"So let me get this straight." I closed my eyes. "There's a camp for demigods, which are real. There are also cyclopes, pegasi, and centaurs."

"Yes. You see, everything in Greek mythogy, every monster, hero, and god, is real."

I snorted. "Sure."

I saw his expression. "Seriously? I thought they were in ancient times though!"

"Did you think that they'd simply just disappear? The gods have moved on from Greece to western civilization. Also, the Romans gods as well, as there is a roman camp at the other side of the country."

"Course there is." I wanted to sit down, but there's no where to sit but the ground, and that would look weird.

Chiron looked surprised. "You are taking this rather well."

"I've always been a fan of Greek mythology. And since its in the real world, I'm not all that upset, just shocked." I turned to him. "So why am I here? You said this is a camp for demigods, so am I a half blood?"

He looked like this conversation got awkward. "Not exactly. Perhaps we should go to the Big House."

I nodded, and we started walking to the left.

"This camp has everything demigods need." Chiron said. "Sword-fighting, archery lessons, arts and crafts, capture the flag, a deadly climbing wall that spews out lava,-"

"Sorry," I coughed. "But did you say, arts and crafts?"

He laughed. "Not what I would've thought that you'd be surprised about."

Finally, we came to the giant big blue house- the Big House. It seemed to have four floors, and a porch that wrapped around.

We came up onto the porch, and I saw a guy playing cards with three invisible people. He had hair so black it was almost purple, bloodshot eyes, and a very bright Hawaiian shirt that looked hideous (no offense to Hawaiians, you guys rock).

"Hello, Mr. D." Chiron walked up to him.

Mr. D?

He ignored us for about ten seconds, then put down a few cards and stared at Chiron with a bored expression. Then, he looked at me, and his eyes widened.

"What is she doing here." He said she as if I was a monster.

"Nice to meet you too." I mumbled.

"She," Chiron said it exactly how Mr. D said it. Then, he whispered. "Has gained her abilities."

Mr. D's eyes narrowed. "My father must know the consequences."

"Father?" I blurted.

Mr. D rolled his eyes. "She's as dimwitted as that boy Peter Johnson. And you know how badly I wanted to disintegrate him."

"Percy Jackson." Chiron corrected. "And you don't have your leopard print shirt on, so how is she supposed to know that they are your sacred animals? And you haven't tried to make your wine appear."

Chiron glanced at me, as if hoping if I'd catch on. I wasn't sure why he cared, but then I knew who Mr. D was.

"Of course I know who you are!" I sounded like it was obvious. "You are the great Dionysus, god of wine! Also a big part of the twelve main Olympians!"

"No need to be too much of a suck-up." Dionysus sighed and continued his game. "But I suppose you are wondering why a powerful god like me is stuck babysitting brats?"

"No." I blurted out, for the second time.

"Well good, because I wasn't going to tell you anyways."

"Fabulous." I put on a big smile.

He stared at me. "You know, you'd be great as a dolphin."

"Anyway." Chiron interrupted. "Kat, I would show you around the camp, but me and Mr. D have some important things to attend. So if you go down there and ask one of the campers to help, I'm sure that they'd love to."

Wow. He made me come all the way here, got me threatened by a wine God, and told me to leave. This makes so much sense.

"You know, if you don't want me around, all you have to say is scram or beat it." I turned away.

"Scram. Beat it." Mr. D said.

I clenched my fists. Like I said before, when someone is rude to me, I am rude right back. But I couldn't mess with a god. So instead, I turned around, and said to him, "it was very nice to meet you." I said it in the most elegant and sarcastic way possible. Then, I walked away.

-<+>-

No campers loved to help me. I asked, but they just turned their heads and ignored me. Rude.

I walked to the volleyball court, where a new game was in session. I sat down on the bench, and watched the game.

There wasn't much of a chance for the right side. The left side was just the same, but they had a huge lead because of one person. A girl about my age, 15 or 16, with reddish brown hair and green eyes, was dominating. She kept spiking the ball exactly where no one was, and the people on the other team seemed to not even try to dive for it.

"Come on right side!" I shouted. I always rooted for the underdogs, because sometimes they pull through, and the others looked like jerks.

The girl glanced at me, and spiked again.

Finally, after a few more spikes, the game was over, and the left side won tremendously.

I was about to get up and ask one of the people to show me around, when the girl approached me.

"Yo." She towered right in front of me, with the volleyball between her right arm and hip.

"Um, hi?" I didn't know what to say.

"I gotta question for you. You knew the other team would lose, so why'd you cheer for them."

I shrugged. "I love underdogs."

She gave me a toothy grin. "Then you're going to love yourself, because I challenge you to a match."

"I'm not very good at sports." Which was a partial lie, since I was good at swimming and archery. If those count as sports.

"Oh come on, it's just a harmless game." She begged me.

I shook my head.

"K, fine. I know what you want. If you win, I'll give you this bracelet." She held out her arm to reveal a beautiful gold bracelet.

"What happens if you win?" I asked her.

"We'll discuss it later. I promise I won't embarrass or hurt you, though. As long as you cooperate, that is."

She reminded me of those bullies that bait people into stuff, and then do something bad and get them blamed. But I accepted her challenge, and soon we were on the court.

It was a pretty weird game at first. The score was matched up, and she didn't even spike yet. But I was okay as long as I won. It wasn't for the bracelet, but because I just didn't want to lose.

My teammate bounced the ball high in the air, and I was about to jump up and spike it like a boss, but something's was wrong. I couldn't move my feet. At the last second, my teammate bounced it to the other team, which was a lifesaver. I looked at my feet, but nothing was wrong. I guessed it was just me being lazy, so we continued the game.

But it happened twice. And the last time the ball fell, so it was the other team's turn. The game was a tie, and one point was left. The girl was serving, and she picked it up, and she spiked it.

It went right in front of me, so I was about to dive to get it. But my feet couldn't move again. I looked down early this time, and saw that vines were anchoring my feet to the ground.

The ball fell, and the game ended. My team was mad at me, and left. So I went to the girl who was sitting on the bench.

"What was that?" I demanded.

"What was what?" She asked innocently.

"Those vines in the ground! You cheated!"

She shrugged. "I won. And now I get my reward."

Her eyes twinkled mischievously, so I was scared.

"Answers."

I blinked. "That's it?"

She nodded. "Why are your eyes purple?"

I blinked again. "I don't know."

"You were born like that?"

"No. It just happened."

"Just happened." She didn't believe me. "K. So who is your godly parent?"

"I don't know."

"So you are undetermined."

"What does that mean?"

"Don't play stupid with me." She warned.

"I'm not!"

"Please. I know when people are lying to me."

"Obviously not." Gosh I hate when I don't think before I speak.

She narrowed her eyes and stood up. Vines curled around my feet.

"Hey!" You better not get grass stains on my shoes!"

She stood a few inches from my face. "I know your secret. So don't play or mess with me."

Woah. Bro. I was so confused.

"Lay off of her, Lilly." A male voice said.

I looked around, and saw a boy about 16 coming toward us. He had kaleidoscopic  eyes that swirled different colors, and blonde hair. He was tall and tan, and had an orange shirt on with blue jeans. Overall, he was pretty cute.

He stood by Lilly and I, staring her down. She reluctantly flicked her hand, and the vines uncurled.

"You are such a party pooper, Tristan." She walked away.

Tristan sized me up. "New camper?"

"I guess." I shrugged.

"Oh. Well, as you heard before, I'm Tristan."

"I'm Kat."

"Beautiful name for a beautiful girl." He grinned.

Was he flirting? I wouldn't know. I'm not good with relationships.

"What did you do to get Lilly mad?" He continued

"I didn't answer her question about who's my godly parent."

"Huh. And you don't know?"

"Yeah. I have no idea."

"Do you have any special talents? Like breathing underwater or, or flying?" He stuttered at the last part.

"My most special talents are drawing and being a rebel."

"And being charming." He laughed. "So nothing?"

I shook my head.

"Well, don't worry." He said, cheerfully. "We'll have plenty of time to figure it out. Plus, that gives us time to get to know each other."

Yeah. He was flirting. He was cute, but I don't really feel, attracted, to him.

"So I just got here a little bit ago, and I could use a tour." I said.

For once, Tristan looked upset. "I would love to give you a tour, but I gotta get back to, er, some people."

He took my hand. "But it was really nice to meet you, Kat, and I hope to see you soon!"

He ran off, and I sighed. "Guess I'll give myself a tour."

-<+>-

So what do you guys think about Tristan and Lilly? Who are their parents? What's going to happen next?

I MISSED THE DEADLINE IM SO SORRY. So tired. But next one shall be on Monday, September 7. Possibly.

Hope you are enjoying, my little rebels.

~<>~ Update ~<>~

Okay so I changed Ashton's name to Tristan because there is a character that I'd rather have the name to be Ashton
