Chapter VI
Together, Finnian and I tend the garden. I trim the hedges while he weeds. Sebastian is inside helping Bardroy make lunch or rather doing it all himself.
I sigh as I remember Sebastian's warm inviting gaze as I took his hand... I blink a couple times to snap myself out of it. What am I doing? I'm not falling for a butler am I? I'm still a 17 year old woman with a royal title. I can't possibly be in love with an older butler I just met yesterday!
I manage to distract myself in my work.
(Sebastian's Point of View)
I can't escape the burning in my chest. When I was rude to _______ earlier, I only made it worse. When she entered my bedroom, it took all I had not to attack her because of the burning desire for her body. I...I realized that I liked _______. I had a human emotion.
And it was the best thing I've ever experienced.
When I saw her blush in the garden, it took everything I had to not kiss her. Her face looked so innocent. I guess that I must be sure that she likes me before I reveal anything about my love for her. No, I can't love her. I'm a demon that's only here to collect a petty soul. No attachments must be made to the human world because I must return to hell upon the death of Ciel.
"Sebastian, are you sure that I can't use my flamethrower?" Bard asks with a begging tone.
"No, ovens are perfectly fine for roast-cooking," I sigh.
Bardroy groans and sticks the roast in the oven. I'm currently making a colorful salad to complement the roast that I'm hoping Bardroy won't ruin.
(Your Point of View)
I step into the bustling kitchen. Both Bardroy and Sebastian are rushing about. I quickly make Ciel's evening tea to escape being trampled. I swear the whole time, Sebastian keeps glancing at me.
I push the cart to Ciel's study, where he usually resides. I knock twice.
"Enter!" Ciel calls.
I open the door and push the cart next to Ciel's desk. Filling his cup, I ask Ciel about Sebastian.
"How long has Sebastian been in your service exactly, my lordship?" I ask.
"A year minimum, but why are you inquiring about him?" Ciel asks, eyebrow raised.
"N...no reason," I fluster. "He just began to talk to me once again, and I just wondered tis all."
"You know, just earlier today, he requested if you could go with him to London."
"Yes, it's just a shopping trip."
"What you don't know is that a few days before you joined our staff, we had been in London shopping. We shouldn't need anything else for weeks. Why do you think he's taking you now?" Ciel smirks. "That butler is under my gloved thumb, Miss _______. He never does anything without my knowledge because I have commanded so, yet he plans a trip to London without giving me details. He's hiding things. Get them out."
Ciel grins now, finishing his tea.
"I always thought that my divinely perfect butler must have a flaw."
I take Ciel's empty tea cup and exit the room. Sebastian is hiding something; Ciel confirms my suspicions.
I think Sebastian has feelings for me.
I return to the chaotic excuse for a kitchen to find Bardroy tossing a salad grumpily. Sebastian is slicing the juicy-looking roast.
"Are all meals here this extravagant?" I ask, marveling my the royal quality of the cake sitting on the counter.
"Yeah, pain in my arse, too," Bardroy grumbles. Sebastian smacks him with a pair of tongs.
"Language please," he snaps. "A lady is in our presence."
Bardroy stares at Sebastian puzzled. "You've never bothered to hit me before when I swore in front of Mey-Rin."
Sebastian glares at Bardroy to shut him up. So, could be true?
I slouch over the kitchen counter. I spot the bowl of leftover icing and poke my finger into it. I can feel my very eyes widen as I take in the layers of flavor. I taste citrus, strawberry, and a bit of alcohol of some sort. Sebastian finishes preparing Ciel's plate and walks out with Mey-Rin to serve the young master. Bardroy slumps over in a chair in the corner. No one to watch me eat this icing...
Within several large spoonfuls later, the bowl is scraped clean. That was so much sugar, stomach is bound to be aching by tonight. Come to think of it, my head hurts, and I'm a bit dizzy... I have never felt so off...
Finally, Sebastian shows up. His eyes wander over to the empty bowl.
"Did you... eat all of the icing?" Sebastian says, smirk widening at the sight of my appearance. "That had some very strong Irish brandy in it, but I see you've already learned that."
"What er you talkin' 'bout, Seb-" A small hiccup cuts me off. My hands snap to my mouth.
A rich laugh fills the room. Bardroy snaps awake now. He looks utterly surprised by Sebastian's laugh.
"Now," Sebastian says after taking a deep breath. "Let's get you to bed, tipsy little kitten."
"I am not tipsy, nor am I a little kitn' so just shush," I protest. "I can get to bed myself!"
I take maybe three steps before I stumble. Sebastian swiftly picks up my body. To that, I don't protest. His arms hold me tight, and his warm chest is incredibly inviting to my sleepy form.
"I guess that means I'm carrying you to bed," he chuckles. He begins to hum a simple melody that sends me to sleep immediately...
My dreams tonight are soothing, as if my subconscious was mellowed out by the alcohol. I begin in a warm bed, sheets tucked in tight around me. An angelic voice sings softly. I make out a few words.
"...love...adore...elegant...perfect..._________..."
I begin to hum along. I feel deeper sleep tug me under. Deeper... deeper..... deeper.....
I stretch awake and sit up. I'm in my bedclothes. I have no memory of anything after Sebastian entering the kitchen. The sheets are perfectly made on the other side of the bed. Then, another memory comes to mind; Sebastian is taking me to London today! I look at my bedside clock. It reads 5:34.
I jump out of bed and scramble to my trunk. I grab one of the dresses I saved and throw it on. Its pastel blue tinge seems to make my face look less tired.
Within mere moments it seems that I got prepared for what was supposed to be a shopping trip. I decide to check in the kitchen to see who else is awake, but mostly to check on breakfast.
I push open the door to see all the staff sitting around the counter. They all have the same reaction as I walk in: astonishment.
Mey-Rin exclaims,"You look absolutely amazing!"
Tanaka gives a few 'ho ho's. Like in a comedy skit, Finny and Bardroy quickly snap their mouths closed as soon as they realize their open. Sebastian's reaction was the strangest. His eyes flashed pink and a smirk tugged at the corners of his lips. My stomach seemed to twist into knots as I saw him. Finally, Sebastian spoke.
"Strawberry banana pancakes are this morning's breakfast which you are just in time for, my dear."
"Oh thank God. That alcohol must've caused me to sleep in. I wouldn't know because I have never drank more than the occasional glass champagne for a toast or wine with a meal," I explain.
Sebastian gives a low laugh. "It was quite obvious that you don't drink, ________."
"How bad was I?" I wince.
Bardroy now is holding back a laugh. "Mister Sebastian 'ere had to carry you to bed."
"Oh Lord, I was that drunk?" I groan.
Everyone begins to laugh now. Tanaka's laugh even begins to get me to laugh along with them. Sebastian just smirks while he finishes the breakfast.
We all are filled to the brim after eating the best breakfast so far.
"If you will all excuse me," Sebastian says after cleaning the kitchen. "I have to get ready to go to London. I expect all of you to be doing your jobs while I am gone, except for Miss ________, her dress is simply too lovely to ruin." He directs a wink to me and then leaves. I can feel every inch of my face and neck turn pink. Mey-Rin giggles and then begins to prepare Ciel's morning tea.
After maybe five minutes, Sebastian returns, dressed casually, but yet not casual. Then again, he makes everything look regal.
"Ready?" he asks.
I nod and rise from the kitchen stool I was sitting at and follow Sebastian out of the kitchen.

P.S. Some kind of bug in the system put this chapter before the other authors note so pay no mind.
