Chapter 2 - Moving In
A/N: I didn't realize how long it's been since I've updated! So sorry for the wait! (Don't forget it's now a modern AU!)
Caesar finished packing his bag, putting it down, and stretching. "As big as any household would be for one person. One bedroom one bath, it's quite spacious for-" Caesar stopped and looked at Joseph, who had a slight smirk on his face. "JoJo, what are you thinking?"
Joseph shrugged smugly, "Oh I don't know, what do you think I'm thinking?"
Caesar sighed, holding his hand to his forehead.
"I don't like where this is going."

"C'mon, please!" Joseph begged with puppy eyes, hugging Caesar's arm.
Caesar's eyes twitched. "You're nineteen and just defeated the ultimate being, can't you learn some independence!?" Caesar snapped, shaking Joseph off his arm.
"I don't have any money," Joseph whined, sinking to the floor.
"So? I can't help you with that! I have a tight enough budget as it is, I have enough for two months rent and other stuff for the house. I'm already looking for a job, but otherwise, I can't afford you living with me! And you just said, you don't have any money."
"I'll get a job too, just don't let me be homeless, please," Joseph sniffled.
"Are you crying?" Caesar asked, raising an unamused brow.
"No."
Caesar shook his head, "Get up," he said. Joseph slowly stood up off the floor, looking at Caesar with pleading eyes. Caesar felt pity, he felt bad for Joseph. "I'll let you move in with me. But there will be some rules," he said softer than before.
"I'll do anything," Joseph begged.
"Rule number one, you will find a job, and you will help with rent and bills. You will pay for your own things, and I'll pay for mine. Rule two, until we both get a stable budget and get paid regularly, only fast food and microwaveable foods. No going out, and no making homemade meals. Rule number three, you'll sleep on the couch. It's a one-bedroom one bath, and my room is still my room. After a while, if we find good-paying jobs, we should be able to afford a two-bedroom soon enough. Four, if I find even one article of dirty clothing on the floor, you're sleeping outside for a week. And last, if you finish the rest of the toilet roll without replacing it you'll be stuck cleaning the apartment for a month."
Joseph stood straight and saluted. "Yes!"
Caesar scoffed, shoving him slightly. "Cut it out. Now get your stuff ready, we're leaving tonight."
"Got it!" Joseph ran back to his room to get his bags, leaving Caesar to shake his head and chuckle.
"Such an idiot..." he muttered, zipping up his bag and setting it on the bed. He stood and thought, thinking about how he would manage his own life with Joseph living with him. Money management, Caesar found that one to be most difficult. Not only because of rent and the cost of two people, but Joseph seemed like the one to buy things nobody needs. There were lots of things to take into consideration, as he only saved enough money for one person.
Caesar sighed, throwing himself onto the bed. The more he thought about it, the more he realizes that it was a big decision he made without thinking anything through. Which is unlike him.
He didn't know why, but something about Joseph's pleading puppy eyes made him cave in. And he said yes without thoroughly thinking about it. He covered his face with his hands, groaning as another headache hit him. "Stupid medicine..." he whispered.
Caesar was one to overthink. He would overthink everything. Either before or after he made a decision. And now that the medicine he was taking gave him migraines as a side effect, overthinking did not contribute to the situation whatsoever. He rubbed his temples and closed his eyes.
For some reason, even though there was stress with the whole 'Joseph moving in' thing, he felt at peace. He felt excited, happy, and he didn't know why.
As his confusing thoughts lured him in, he slowly drifted to sleep, dreams consuming him.
...
"Caesar! Caesar-chan~ Wakey wakey~!"
Caesar groaned, swatting away the hand that was shaking him awake. As he fell back asleep once more, the blanket under him was ripped away, causing him to be thrown off the bed and onto the floor. "Hey! I'm awake dumbass!" Caesar sat up, rubbing his back with a wince. He looked up and saw Joseph crossing his arms. "And what are you acting so serious for?"
Joseph stared at him. "The train leaves in 10 minutes."
"WHAT!?"
Caesar shot up, looking at the clock that was hung on the wall: 8:20 PM. "Why didn't you wake me up sooner!?"
Joseph followed Caesar as he frantically gathered his bags. "I didn't know what time the train left, and when I came in to ask, you were asleep! I asked Lisa Lisa if she knew, and she said 8:30!"
"Didn't she say it was Elizabeth?"
"Elizabeth, mom, whatever! Now is not the time! We have to hurry!"
"Look who's talking!"
Caesar rushed out of the room, Joseph following with his own bags. "JoJo?" Suzi Q questioned as she saw the two rushing out the door.
Joseph waved and spoke quickly, "Gonna be late gotta go visit us sometime soon bye!"
Suzi Q was left confused but shrugged it off. She'd ask Lisa Lisa about it later. The two shot past Lisa Lisa, who sighed with a smile and only the smallest chuckle. She watched Caesar continue to lecture Joseph as they rushed to the exit, their voices getting fainter as they moved on.
"JoJo I swear to god, if we're late, you better be happy I won't just leave you right then and there," Caesar growled.
Joseph chuckled nervously as he sank into his shoulders. To Joseph's luck, they were just on time. Caesar turned in their tickets and they boarded the train. Caesar took his own and Joseph's bag and placed them under the seats on the train. Joseph shoved his way into the window seat, which only made Caesar scoff at his childish behavior. But he understood, Italy was a beautiful place, who wouldn't want to enjoy the views?
Near the end of the train ride, Joseph began to dose off, his eyelids fluttering closed. But just as they did, they had arrived in Rome. Caesar noticed he had fallen asleep and poked his cheek to make sure.
Joseph was so exhausted from everything that had happened in the past month. And Caesar doesn't blame him. He reached his arm on Joseph's shoulder to try and wake him up, but he was interrupted by a terrible migraine. As if lightning, a shock of pain shot through his head, causing him to wince and yelp.
Joseph startled awake by the sudden noise from Caesar. He looked around groggily and finally noticed Caesar gripping the sides of his head in visible pain.
"Caesar?" Joseph crouched down to get a view of Caesar's face. "Hey? Caesar?" Caesar did not reply as his ears were ringing very loudly. Panic began to rise within Joseph, and his instincts kicked in. He fumbled for Caesar's suitcase and pulled out a bottle of Tylenol. He pulled a bottle of water from his backpack and handed a pill to Caesar, removing his arms from his head and ushering him to take the medicine.
Caesar opened his eyes and snatched the pill and water from Joseph's hand, downing it quickly. He sat there for a few seconds, attempting to come back to his senses.
Joseph stared at him with genuine concern while he returned to reality. His migraine slowly faded, but it was still present to some extent. He looked at Joseph and nodded with a "Thank you."
Joseph stood up, holding both of their bags and somehow still being able to lend a hand to Caesar, helping him stand up. Caesar rubbed his head and pointed at his suitcase. "Let me carry it."
Joseph shook his head sternly. "No-can-do Caesar-chan. You're still recovering and you're putting too much strain on yourself. Take it easy and let me handle this, now go on ahead, I'll follow your lead."
Caesar bit his bottom lip in confliction but obliged. Joseph was right anyway, it's not like he could argue.
He led the way to the condo, Joseph following as he looked around, admiring, and taking in the beauty of Rome. He almost dropped the bags as he bumped into someone, but quickly apologized and ran to catch up with Caesar.
"Hey! Watch where you're going jackass!"
"Sorry!"
Joseph cowered, slightly embarrassed, and slouched next to Caesar. Caesar chuckled, glancing over at his now red face. "Not everyone here is all peachy, goofy, and nice like you are, you gotta be careful or you're gonna get yourself into some real trouble Joestar."
Joseph looked down and nodded, internally smirking that Caesar basically called him nice.
They arrived at the condo and headed to the third floor out of five. There was an elevator, so moving furniture into the house shouldn't be that difficult.
Caesar removed the keys from his back jean pocket and opened the door, he and Joseph stepping inside.
Right on the left was a bar table that connected with the kitchen. The kitchen was very nice and spacious with a glimmering double-door silver fridge with the automatic water and ice dispenser. A clean electric oven and dishwasher, a spacious countertop, and plenty of cabinets and drawers to hold silverware and food supplies.
They walked in some more and looked to their left. Down the left was a hallway with three doors. The door at the end of the hallway led to the master bedroom, which Caesar would be taking for himself. The right-hand door was the bathroom, and just to their luck, it had two sinks. And the left-hand door was the laundry room, supplied with a helpful little closet for cleaning materials.
The other side of the house had a smaller hallway, which just had one door, and that door just led to a small storage closet. And the end of the small hallway had a nice little place for decoration or a poster to put there. Caesar had already decided to put a small side table there with a candle and some soft Christmas lights, just to add a bit of a comfy atmosphere to their new home.
And then, of course, there was the living room. Very spacious with a nice large window allowing the natural light to flow right into their home. As they looked around, Caesar had the perfect image of where everything would go and the theme he wanted for the furniture. He knew the type of couch he wanted, the carpet, coffee table, TV, curtains, etc.
He put his hands on his hips and looked back at Joseph, who had seemed to just have gotten off the phone. "Did you order the furniture already?" he asked.
Caesar crossed his arms and shook his head. "Well of course not dummy, I haven't gotten the chance to go to a furniture store yet."
"Well I just called the wifi people, they'll be here in about 3 hours or so, is that enough time to get at least the TV or the living room furniture?"
Caesar put his hand on his hip, thinking. "Three hours should be enough. At least for the couch and a TV stand. Since we have to put them together, it'll take a while. Then we'll go back for bedroom furniture, and tomorrow we can start with the smaller items like decorations and chairs."
Joseph nodded. "Let's go then!"
And they were off, but before they left the door, Joseph stopped Caesar. "Wait, did you take your medicine?"
Caesar rolled his eyes, reaching in his pocket for his medicine. Joseph handed him the bottled water and watched Caesar take it. When he swallowed it, Joseph took back the water and placed it on the floor next to their suitcases.
Caesar locked the door behind him and they left for the furniture store. They had to walk since they still hadn't bought a car yet, but Joseph saw no problem with it. With his new Hamon training, a lot of things that would've seemed tiring or hard to do back then now was easier than lifting a feather to him.
Though he was a little concerned for Caesar though. Once he recovered, he could easily pick back up his training and be better in no time. But since he gave Joseph his Hamon in that bubble... It wasn't really there anymore. He was back to being a normal human. And since it's Caesar we're talking about, those two don't really mix.
Caesar is an active person who loves to get in fights, either physically or verbally. He's strict and basically a mini Lisa Lisa. But now that his Hamon is gone and he's very fragile in his current state, Joseph's worried Caesar could possibly hurt himself further. That's why he's eager to get their furniture and settle in to help get Caesar back to full health before he does something stupid.
They finally found a small furniture store and entered. An employee greeted them and asked if there was anything they could help them with, and Joseph asked for them to be directed to the living room furniture. The employee pointed the way and Joseph thanked them.
They began to look around at the TV stands and the different prices. "You know Joseph, we could always just get a TV that attaches to the wall instead of going through the trouble of getting a stand and having to put it together."
Joseph nodded. "That's true. But I feel like it would be a little bare without one, you know? I know it's your house but still-"
"No, you're fine. You're going to be living there so I think you have a say. And you have a point too."
Joseph spotted a nice polished wooden TV stand and pointed at it. "Caesar! Only $330. What do you think?"
Caesar looked over and squinted, shaking his head. "Doesn't really go with the theme I have in mind. Can you find either a white or black one? Grey works too."
"On it!"
Joseph ran off to find more, and Caesar left in a different direction to look at couches. He found a nice black leather couch with five cushions and thought it was nice. But then he remembered that your body kind of sticks to leather in the heat.
He also thought that it wouldn't be much of a problem as long as they had air conditioning when the time came around. But he would wait for Joseph to come back before he made a decision.
A few more minutes pass of him browsing different decorations and chairs when Joseph came back with an employee. "Found one!"
It was a nice black TV stand with cabinet doors built into the front, which opened to show three different shelves. Caesar agreed that it was nice, and well within their budget, and so they agreed to buy it. It was also already put together, so all they had to do was carry it.
"We'll come back for the couch once we get this into the house, okay Caesar?" Joseph said.
Caesar nodded, "Got it."
After he made the purchase, they brought out a new TV stand and not the display one, which Joseph hoisted up very easily using his Hamon. Caesar asked if he needed help and he simply shook his head with a smile.
Joseph brought it back to the house and set it down in the right place where Caesar wanted it and came back to the furniture store for the couch. Joseph said he didn't mind the leather couch, and actually said he liked leather, so he actually preferred it over the other fabrics.
Caesar bought that one too, but this one they had to put together. Joseph carried the separate boxes with the screws and pieces back to the house and set it on the living room floor. Caesar had also bought a TV at the furniture store in which he was able to carry himself without pushing his limits too much.
As Joseph began to spread out the pieces to the couch and start to figure out how to put it together, Caesar began to get out the TV and connect it with the wall, then plug in the cords and everything in time for the wifi people to get there.
They both knew they wouldn't be able to get a bed before the end of the day, so they came prepared with some inflatable beds packed in their suitcases for the night.
A few hours passed, the couch was almost finished and the wifi and TV were fully set up, and the sun was about to set.
"Do you just wanna get some take out tonight?" Caesar asked.
"I mean, yeah, it's not like we have groceries or anything yet. Just make sure you get plastic utensils from wherever you got to use," Joseph said, screwing part of the couch together.
"What do you have in mind?"
Joseph shrugged. "I'm new, I don't really know what's around here. But I'm not really in the mood to try anything new right now."
"I heard there's a Pizza place near here. Are you okay with Pizza?" Caesar asked, grunting as he stood up.
"Yeah, Pizza's fine. Just make sure it's half pepperoni on one side, the other side can be whatever you want. Don't forget napkins either."
Caesar nodded, yawning as he stretched his arms. "Okay, I'll be back then."
When Caesar came back with the Pizza, Joseph was on the now put together couch sleeping with the TV on. Caesar chuckled, shaking his head and kicking off his shoes. Joseph must've been tired from putting that together and carrying the TV stand, he didn't blame him.
He put the pizza on the counter and pulled out some paper plates and cups he had picked up from the store on his way back. He put a slice of pepperoni on a plate with a napkin and a cup of water and placed it on the floor in front of Joseph. He grabbed his own slice with water as well and sat on the couch next to Joseph.
He elbowed Joseph to wake him up, in which he was successful.
And so, for the rest of the night, they talked and snacked on Pizza as they watched TV.
And in the end, they both ended up falling asleep on the couch next to each other. And unlike usual, Caesar didn't mind Joseph's presence. In fact, he somewhat enjoyed it.
