What's that? A short cute scene of ten-year-old Bruce and Thor? Coming right up! Enjoy! :)

Once the house is in sight, Bruce starts to walk slower. He tightens his grip on Thor's hand a little. Thor notices this.

Not that it would have gone unnoticed. It took Thor a long time, but back with his version of Bruce, he learned all the subtle ways that Bruce would convey his meanings silently.

"It'll be all right," he reassures him, slowing down with him.

Bruce looks up at Thor. "You think so?"

"I believe so."

They walk in silence to the front porch.

Bruce squints. "I don't know if I can see any lights on." Cautiously, he makes his way to the door, slips a key out from underneath the rug, where he discovers the note has not moved, and turns the key in the doorknob and opens the door. Not a single sound at all.

"I forgot!" Bruce exclaims, clearly relieved, "sometimes he goes out, and stays out all night, I don't where, if it's out of town or in his lab a ways a way or in a bar somewhere, and he doesn't come back till at least the next day. I'm home alone!" He turns around to face Thor. He smiles. Thor smiles too. Suddenly, Bruce rushes back to Thor and hugs him. Thor wraps his arms around Bruce.

"Thank you," Bruce whispers. "For everything."

Thor holds him closer. "You are very welcome."

Bruce pulls back after a few more moments. "Do I know if I will see you again?"

"Well," Thor begins. He probably shouldn't tell Bruce that they definitely meet in the future, around 2012, and fight together again in 2015, then go on an alien planet together, then come back to Earth in a relationship. "We'll just have to see."

Bruce seems to take that for an answer.

"And if...anything happens," Thor says, "concerning...your father, or well, anyone...if anyone does anything to hurt you...know that I will not be far behind, to make them pay for anything they do."

Bruce looks down. "Thanks."

"I think this is where I leave, Bruce," Thor tells him, a little sadly. He's enjoyed this day. Sure, he wants to go home. This hasn't been all that bad either, though.

Bruce frowns a little. He nods understandingly. "Hopefully I see you again."

"I hope so too." There's a moment of silence. Then Thor has an idea. "Actually, I have one last thing to give you." Bruce tilts his head. Thor takes off his necklace and holds the little pendant in his hand: Yggdrasil. His mother gave it to him. He holds it in his hand to examine it. He doesn't need it anymore.

"Here." He holds it out for Bruce to take. Slowly, Bruce takes it.

"What is it?" he asks.

"A symbol," Thor explains. "Yggdrasil."

"Egg-da...what?"

"Yggdrasil. The Tree of Life, or the World Tree. In Norse Legends." He knows it would be too much to introduce it as real in the moment. "It is an ash tree, which connects all the worlds together. Yggdrasil represents the cosmos, time and destiny, harmony, and the sense of nature."

Bruce grins. "That's cool."

"I agree." Thor looks out, to see how low the sun has gotten.

Sun's going down. Sun's getting real low.

Thor swallows.

Time is almost up, the voice hisses.

And I thought I was done with you totally, Thor grumbles in his head. He turns back to Bruce. "Well, Bruce. I think it's time that we really should part ways."

Bruce nods.

Thor hugs him one last time. He hears a sound. Bruce pulls away, embarrassed.

"Was that your stomach?" Thor asks, amused.

Bruce ducks his head, then nods. "I should probably make myself dinner."

Thor chuckles. "Well then! I won't hold you any longer. Farewell, Bruce."

"Goodbye, Thor," Bruce responds. He goes inside his doorway, turns the light on, turns around to look at Thor one last time, then closes the door.

Thor lets out a sigh of relief and great satisfaction.

That. That is what he's here for.

Are you truly satisfied? the voice asks.

"Yes," Thor answers aloud, as he turns away. "I believe I am."

One day in the past. Any people you meet--

"Yes, yes," Thor brushes the voice off. "I get it." He looks around. "Well, I have a few more hours before it gets really dark. Let's see what evening is like in the '80's."

In that time, Thor eats dinner, explore the city more, then goes to find the house where he spent the night in. He looks for a long time at the stars outside before finally heading in.

It's 10:00 pm. He opens the door. The house is silent. Not that he would expect anyone in it; there was no one there earlier.

He settles in.

One day in the past, the voice drolls on for the last time. Any people you meet will not remember your name, nor your face. They will remember what you did. You went to sleep in the present, woke up in the past, will wake up in the present the next day.

"So if no one remembers me, I am indeed anonymous?" Thor asks.

One day, the voice repeats.

"Yes, yes, I heard the first thousand times." Clearly whoever or whatever is speaking does not have a sense of humor.

Was it worth it? Knowing all deeds will go unforgotten? It's as if you yourself had never existed in this day?

Thor thinks about all he's done today. He's ridden the subway, talked to young Tony, saw Nick Fury, learned around the 1980's, helped out a couple of lesbians, and most importantly: he found Bruce. Their experience today is one he will never forget.

"Yes," Thor answers the voice. "It was all worth it."

I'm coming home, Bruce, he thinks. I love you, and I'm coming back. He pictures his boyfriend, his deep brown eyes, his graying curly black hair, his glasses, his face which expresses how little he thinks he is loved but Thor loves him so, so much.

Thor falls asleep thinking about him, about going home to his time, with his Bruce, to his place in the world.

At midnight you return, the voice says, before finally going away for good. Not that Thor was listening. Not that Thor was listening that first time it foretold that he would wake up in a different time in the morning.

Now, the day is finally done.

Yay!!!! I wrote the ending of 1980! I hope that's what you call an ending for the adventure! Now we just need the crossing the threshold back to Our Beloved Bruce Banner and then it shall be a satisfying story!!

I know a bunch of stuff doesn't make sense. It's fanfiction, okay? Nothing makes sense. Actually, same goes for canon too haha.

Norse Mythology. Yes. Cool. Did my research on Yggdrasil. Had a feeling Thor might have something like that.

This was a nice change of pace compared to the 3000+ words of the last chapter, right?

I don't know when I'm finishing this book but I think by Wednesday it should all be up.

Let me know if you catch any grammatical/spelling/etc errors! I wanna fix them! Actually, I don't want to make them...but if I make them I want to fix them!

Please. No homophobia, profanities, or hate in the comment section.

Best,

~Your Beloved Author (Who has more fanfiction stories planned for ThorBruce, Marvel, and other ships and fandoms)
