I lay awake in bed at night

Just staring at the walls

I hear noises through the shadows

Footsteps inside the halls

I let my past thoughts wander

pick apart the words I chose

Could I have been a little nicer

Before I let old friendships close

My brain is doing somersaults

Playing games inside my head

Sometimes I really wonder

If things will be quieter when I'm dead

I'm really quite exhausted

But going to sleep is such a trial

Don't know when I felt well rested

I've haven't done it for quite a while

I lie awake in bed at night

No rest for me to find

I'm sure it would be easier

If I could simply turn off my mind
