It had been a moon since Deerpaw and Sootpaw had became apprentices. They told so many stories about hunting and training to Willowkit, that she could barely hold back her excitement.

Willowkits belly grumbled, the clan had been running out of food for a while now. The late afternoon soon shone weakly over the clan.

The cold had gotten worse, as had the weather. Sometimes Willowkit wondered if this is all she would ever see, snow.

Bearkit walked around the clearing. Lilacpelt had kicked them out of the nursery for a while. Apparently they had became a bit to rambunctious for the other queens.

Willowkit smirked deviously, she crouched and started creeping towards Bearkit, who was strutting around the clearing, kicking up snow.

Quietly, Willowkit put one foot in front of the other. Light, white bits of snow started falling from the sky. Her bushy tail was high in the air, waving wildly. Once the furry she-kit was close enough to her brother, she pounced.

Willowkit landed on Bearkits tail, she had misjudged the distance, and her own body weight worked against her. She flew over his back and head.

The brown she-cat landed in the snow with a soft thump, sending the flakes everywhere.

"Nice try," Bearkit said with a laugh, than pinned Willowkit easily.

"Come on!" Willowkit struggled under his weight. Bearkit stepped back, and Willowkit scrambled to her feet. She cocked her head and looked at her brother.

"Do you wanna do somethin fun?" Willowkit asked.

"As long as it doesn't involve annoying Appleheart, I'm in," he said with a smile.

"Alright," she said, moving closer to him. "we should sneak out of camp," she mewed and than backed up, wanting to know what he was going to say.

"Okay!" His eyes sparkled with newfound adventure.

"There's a way out by dirt-place," Willowkit mewed, "follow me!"

Suddenly, Salamanderleap came up to the two kits. "Whatcha doing?" He asked.

"Nothing," Willowkit said a bit too quickly. She could feel the blood roaring in her ears, if they were caught sneaking out... Cliffstar would probably make them wait another moon for their apprentice ceremony!

"Alright then," Salamanderleap said and walked away. He shook his fur and smiled.

"Maybe we shouldn't do this," Willowkit mewed, her eyes wide.

"Don't be such a scaredy-mouse," Bearkit mewed and rolled his eyes as they inched further towards the dirt-place, "and it was your idea in the first place,"

Willowkit rolled her shoulders and tried to look normal, her paws were buzzing with excitement. But yet... Also nervousness too.

"Alright," she mewed and gave her chest fur a couple of licks. "Let's go,"

They marched into the dirt-place together and crept slowly towards the opening at the back. There wasn't anycat inside, so it was relatively easy. Willowkit was glad to breath fresh air again once they squeezed through the brambles surrounding camp.

Bearkits ears flattened against his head. "What is it?" Willowkit asked her brother.

"Everything's.... So well, big," he said, his eyes widening. Suddenly, a crashing sound broke the silence.

"Run!" Willowkit heard a cry from behind the bush.

"Come on Bearkit!" She whispered urgently. He nodded, his fur pricking up.

"We need to go now!" He hissed and turned around, a wild look in his pale blue eyes. Willowkit nodded and dashed after him. She could hear the running patrol coming closer. A scent wafted through the air.

Bearkit had obviously caught the scent as well. He stopped, causing Willowkit to go crashing over his head. She could hear the patrol turning the other way, leading what ever it was away from camp.

A rustle sounded behind the bushes, and a sleek russet creature came out. It's words were broken and unintelligible. "Look, sharpclaw-kits," it said, another foul-smelling red creature came into the small clearing.

Willowkit backed up, her neck fur pricking. She unsheathed her claws, trying to look fierce.

Bearkit stood there frozen, and the russet creature took a step forwards.
