✧9. The Nurse's Diary✧

In the principal's office, the room was tense as the principal sat behind his desk.

The professor stood beside him as he complained about Yoongi's behavior.

However, before he could finish, the principal raised a hand, motioning for Yoongi to step forward. Yoongi did as he met the principal's eyes.

The principal examined his palms as he observed the marks left by the cane. He then turned to the professor and asked sternly, "Why did you hit him?"

The professor's response was quick. "He didn't answer anything correctly," he said accusing the younger.

Yoongi shot him a glare, his voice firm as he accused back, "I answered many questions correctly. A few were wrong only because it was beyond our syllabus."

The principal looked at them with a thoughtful expression and then he gestured for the professor to leave, dismissing him from the office.

Alone with Yoongi, he addressed him directly. "Did you curse and badmouth the professor on your way here?"

Yoongi's response was immediate and unwavering. "Yes," he admitted. "Because the professor is-"

But his words were cut off by the principal's stern voice. "No vulgar language is permitted in this college," he stated. "Regardless of the circumstances, a student should never use such language or glare at a professor who holds a superior position."

Yoongi's jaw tightened, but he nodded as he knew that further argument would only escalate the situation.

The principal rose from his seat, his gaze fixed on Yoongi as he retrieved a cane from his desk drawer.

"I understand that the professor bears responsibility for his actions," the principal began. "But that does not mean that you can do your own transgression."

With a decisive motion, he swung the cane through the air, its ominous swish adding more tension.

"Given that both parties are at fault, it is only fair that both should face consequences," he stated. "And in this instance, it is your turn to bear the consequences of your actions, Min Yoongi."

"Now, Face the wall and place your hands upon it," he ordered.

Yoongi hesitated for a moment but ultimately complied with the order.

With a heavy exhale, he turned to face the wall, his hands pressed flat against its surface.

As the first strike of the cane landed upon his back, above his hips, he couldn't suppress a sharp intake of breath, the pain feeling like real lightning. He gritted his teeth, trying to endure it without uttering a sound. Each blow landed with merciless force.

The room echoed with the sound of the cane striking his back. Yoongi clenched his jaw, fighting against flinch away from the punishing blows.

At the end, it was evident that Yoongi's back had taken a severe beating. His shirt was torn and stained with blood, which showed everything he had endured. The principal placed the cane back on the table.

"Fifty strikes in total," he stated.

Yoongi was then told to wait outside the office. He did silently as he made his way to the hallway. Once outside, he couldn't help but let out a heavy sigh, the pain from the hits throbbing his back.

"Fuck. It hurts bad," he muttered to himself with frustration.

As he leaned against the wall, hissing slightly and trying to steady himself, he heard the principal's voice from inside the office, calling for someone else to enter.

Soon, Professor Kim Seokjin rushed near the office, his footsteps hurried. As he neared the room, he met Yoongi's eyes but they exchanged no words since they have to maintain their roles.

Without delay, Jin entered the principal's room. And when he came out, he approached Yoongi.

"The principal wants you to go to the nurse's room," he stated, his voice calm yet concerned.

He then gently draped his coat over Yoongi's shoulders, concealing the torn and blood-stained shirt.

Together, they made their way to the nurse's room. After arriving, Jin helped him settle onto the bed before excusing himself at the nurse's request.

As the nurse attended to him, her expression softened as she noticed his shirt. "Please, take off your shirt so I can assess the extent of your injury," she said gently.

Yoongi did as she said, slowly removing his shirt to reveal the bruises and welts.

The nurse's eyes widened at the sight. She quickly began examining his back, gently probing the areas to gauge his pain response.

With each touch, Yoongi winced slightly, but he remained steady, enduring it.

After a thorough examination, the nurse sighed softly. "It's worse than I thought," she murmured. "You'll need some treatment to help with the pain and promote healing."

She began applying soothing ointment to Yoongi's wounds, her touch gentle as she tended to his injuries with care.

She then offered him a smile. "You'll need to rest and take it easy for a while," she advised. "But with proper care, you should heal in time."

Yoongi nodded. The nurse then asked him, "What's your name?"

Yoongi met her gaze steadily and replied, "Min Yoongi."

Instantly, the nurse's body shifted, her eyes widened like she recognised the name, her hands starting to tremble. "Min Yoongi," she repeated softly, almost as if to herself. "Min..Min Yoongi...?"

Her voice trailed off as she realised and hesitated before pronouncing the name again.

"Min Yoongi... Are you... Are you the Mafia Min Yoongi that I know?"

Yoongi's eyes widened at her sudden question. How could she possibly know about his true identity?

Before he could respond, the nurse got it that he is the true one and preempted him as she bowed low before him, her words coming out in a rushed whisper.

"I-I'm sorry for my behaviour," she stammered with fear. "If you are indeed the great Mafia Min Yoongi, please forgive my ignorance and accept my humble greetings with utmost respect."

Yoongi sat there, stunned by her sudden change, unsure of how to react. But there was a strange sense of satisfaction in seeing how his reputation as the Mafia Min Yoongi commanded such respect, even in unexpected situations like this.

As he watched the nurse bow before him, her body trembling in fear, Yoongi couldn't help but feel a surge of power coursing through him.

This was the respect that came with being Min Yoongi, the great Mafia figure feared and respected by many.

For now, he simply nodded at the nurse's apology. "Get up." He said as he crossed his arms.

She got up quickly, her eyes wide with fear.

"Listen carefully," he began, his tone low and menacing. "You will not breathe a word of this to anyone. If you even think about telling my true identity..."

He paused as he made a slashing motion across his throat with his hand, a silent but unmistakable threat hanging in the air. The nurse's breath caught in her throat, her eyes widening in terror.

He then held her gaze for a moment longer before finally nodding. But seeing this much fear in her eyes, his stern expression softened slightly.

"Don't worry," he said, his tone a bit gentle. "As long as you keep this between us, you'll be safe. I won't harm you."

With that, he leaned back slightly, looking curious. "Now, tell me," he said. "How did you come to know about me?"

She shouted out, her voice filled with fear, "Because you are the great MIN YOONGI, the great mafi-"

But she quickly covered her mouth, cutting off her sentence mid-stream. Lowering her voice to a whisper, she continued, "I knew you, the great Min Yoongi because... because you saved my life once."

Her words hung in the air. "What? Me?" Yoongi asked in disbelief as he processed her words.

She nodded and started to recount the incident from two years ago. As a nurse in a small hospital, she found herself in a terrible situation when some patients attempted to abuse her. But just when things seemed dire, Yoongi arrived at the hospital, wanting a debt owed to him by one of the patients.

Witnessing the abuse, he quickly interfered, saving her from harm by killing those monsters.

As the nurse told those events, he listened quietly, his mind flashing back.

For him, taking a life had become almost a routine.

As she finished her story, his expression remained unreadable. "They deserved it though," he muttered.

Then, he asked, "Were you wearing a pink uniform that day?"

"Oh, yes, I did!" She said, her eyes sparking.

He nodded slowly, realizing his actions on that day. Despite his life of crime, he had unintentionally saved lives, even in his role as a mafia member.

The nurse bowed deeply before him. "Thank you so much for saving me from them, sir. That time, I couldn't thank you properly. But I am glad I got the chance now." Her words were sincere.

Yoongi observed her as then nodded.

The nurse then hesitantly asked a question that had been lingering in her mind: why was someone like Yoongi, with his formidable reputation and influence, present in such an ordinary and unassuming university?

"Sir," she began, "If I may ask, why are you here in this... lowly university?"

She couldn't help but wonder what circumstances had led him to this place, far removed from the world he was in before.

"I have my reasons," Yoongi replied cryptically. "Let's just say I'm here to ensure that justice is served."

The nurse nodded in understanding, her expression reflecting respect.

"I see, sir," she replied. "I trust that you have your reasons and I have no doubt that justice will prevail under your watchful eye." She said, acknowledging his reputation while also being confident in him.

Yoongi then immediately thought of this opportunity to gather information about the university, he realized that the nurse might hold anything valuable.

"Can you tell me anything about the incidents involving the missing students?"

The nurse suddenly looked shocked. "I... I can't say much," she replied. "But there have been whispers... rumors of strange occurrences and unexplained theories surrounding the disappearances. It's... it's a sensitive topic."

The nurse hesitated for a moment but then, she continued.

"Let me tell you everything," she said, "This college has a unique system in place, offering free education to students from disadvantaged backgrounds while also accepting students from high reputed families. However, there's a hidden selection process fo students with outstanding academic achievements."

She then spoke about how the principal secretly selected students based on their academic excellence, marking their names in a confidential file known only to a select few faculty members.

"It's all kept under wraps," she continued, "But by chance, I stumbled upon this information. And just like you now, many of the missing students came here seeking treatment after being subjected to beatings by the professor and principal on their first day here."

"At first, it seemed like a coincidence," she explained, "but as more students went missing, I began to suspect that there was something more sinister at play."

According to her observations, the college used the initial beatings as a test of students' attitudes and resilience. Those who endured the trials and continued to excel in their studies were deemed worthy of remaining at the college, while others who left in anger were automatically excluded from consideration.

"It's a ruthless system," she said, "But it's the reality of what goes on here."

She then whispered, "And I... I saw something.. One night, I witnessed a professor forcibly taking a student behind the college building."

Her eyes darted around nervously as if expecting someone to overhear their conversation. "I followed them, hoping to intervene or at least understand what was happening."

"But then...when I got to that place, they..they just disappeared, without any traces." she whispered. "And the next morning, that same student was gone. Just like the others who went missing."

"I don't know why," she confessed with frustration and helplessness. "But I can't shake the feeling that the professors are somehow involved in the disappearances of those exceptional students."

The nurse's revelation deepened the mystery surrounding the disappearances.

As Yoongi processed her words, a troubling pattern began to form.

Only the students with good exceptional academic achievements had gone missing.

They deliberately target the most promising and accomplished students which raises disturbing questions about the motives behind their disappearances.

Was someone specifically targeting these high-achieving individuals? And if so, why?

When she finished, Yoongi nodded thoughtfully. "Thanks for sharing this with me," he said. "You've been incredibly brave to come forward with this information."

Then, with a furrowed brow, he asked, "But how did you piece all of this together? How did you even find out about the files that mark the students?"

The nurse hesitated, "It was my friend," she said with sorrow. "She's another nurse who worked here. When the students first started disappearing, she couldn't just stand by, doing nothing about it. So, she started investigating on her own, even going so far as to sneak into the principal's office."

"That's when she found the files," she continued, her voice growing quieter. "She told me everything she discovered."

"And what about your friend?" Yoongi asked gently. "What happened to her?"

The nurse's expression darkened. "She... she was murdered," she whispered. "I don't know who did it and how it happened and the police didn't seem to care. But she left behind her diary, with all of her findings and investigations."

Yoongi listened carefully, his mind racing as he processed her words. It was clear that his suspicions about the college ran deeper than he had initially thought.

If someone was willing to go to murder to keep their secrets hidden, then they were dealing with a dangerous adversary- one who would do anything to protect their interests.

"What about the diary?" he asked. "Do you have it with you?"

The nurse nodded as she retrieved her bag and extracted the small diary from within. She handed it to him with hope.

"Here, sir." she said quietly, her voice barely above a whisper. "This may help you understand more about what's been happening."

Yoongi accepted the diary with care, his fingers tracing the worn cover.

"Thank you," he said, his gaze meeting hers. "I'll make sure to use this wisely."

As he tucked the small diary safely into his pocket, with this newfound evidence in hand, he was one step closer to find those dark secrets.

The nurse closed her aid box with a soft click as she turned towards him. She took a step closer, her eyes searching his face for any sign of hesitation or doubt.

"Are you here to uncover the truth about the incident, dear sir?" she asked.

Yoongi hesitated for a moment before nodding slowly. "Yes," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Please be careful," she said. "There are many people involved in these incidents, including some students who may not have your best interests at heart. Some of them even carry weapons."

"I hope you can reveal the truth," she continued. "Bring justice and save the future students, just like you saved me."

She thanked him once again, her eyes shimmering with tears as she silently wished him luck.

Yoongi's eyes softened, taking in her sadness. He laid down on the bed, shifting onto his side before turning away, his back facing her, his breath escaping in a heavy sigh.

"I'm Min Yoongi, the fucking mafia," he said bluntly. "And of course, I'll be careful around anyone who crosses my path. I won't hesitate to eliminate them if they pose a threat."

He wanted to reassure the nurse that he was capable of protecting himself, that her worries for his safety were unnecessary.

"So, don't worry. I will be fine."

With a final glance over his shoulder, he settled into a more comfortable position on the bed as the nurse nodded, knowing full well about him.

But one troubling question made its way into Yoongi's mind. If all the students with great exceptional marks who endured the professor's punishment on the first day had gone missing, then...

wouldn't he, too, be at risk of disappearing?
