✧40. Under The Same Roof✧
As the night approached, Yoongi's phone buzzed with a call from an unknown number. He frowned, curious about who could be calling at this hour. "Hello?"
A soft, familiar voice came through the speaker. "Yoonie hyung..?"
Yoongi blinked, recognizing Jungkook's voice. "Hey," he answered back. "What's up? Why are you calling at this time?"
Jungkook's voice was full of concern. "I was wondering if everything is alright at the mansion. Neither Tae nor Jin hyung is picking up their phones, so I thought I had to check with you. I am still outside, that's why."
Yoongi's brow furrowed. "I'm not at Jin's mansion. I am at my own place. I don't know what's going on there."
Jungkook's voice grew more anxious. "I have been trying to reach them for a while. I thought maybe something happened."
Yoongi paused, considering the situation. If Taehyung and Jin weren't answering their phones, they might be dealing with that baldie. He couldn't let the younger go to the mansion, alone.
"Well..." Yoongi said with a sigh. "Where are you right now?"
There was a brief pause before Jungkook replied. "Um... I am at a gaming store."
Yoongi nodded to himself. "Jimin and I will come pick you up. You should stay the night here."
Jungkook hesitated as he immediately refused. "No, hyung! That's alright. I don’t want to be a bother. I can manage on my own."
Yoongi's tone was firm as he raised an eyebrow. "No, you are not a bother. I insist you stay here today. We will be there soon."
Jungkook sighed, knowing he couldn't argue with him. "Okay, hyung. I will be waiting."
After ending the call, Yoongi looked at Jimin, who was watching him with a puzzled expression.
"Come on, let's go." Yoongi said.
Jimin stood up, his curiosity piqued. "Where are we going?"
"Jungkook's staying the night here," Yoongi said.
Jimin's face flushed slightly, remembering their awkward last interaction. He fidgeted with his fingers. "Why? Is everything alright?"
Yoongi sighed, opening the door of the mansion. "It's a long story. For now, Jungkook needs to stay with us."
Jimin didn't press further and followed Yoongi to the car. They climbed in, his vehicle unused for a while. Yoongi started the engine, and as they drove, Jimin sat quietly in the backseat, still feeling awkward.
Soon, they arrived at the gaming store where Jungkook was waiting. The store's neon lights cast a soft glow on the street as they pulled up. Yoongi parked the car and got out, followed by his brother.
Jungkook was already heading towards them, looking relieved as he saw the elder.
"Get in," Yoongi said, opening the car door for him.
Jungkook nodded gratefully and climbed into the backseat. Once inside, Yoongi glanced at him through the rearview mirror. "Have you eaten anything yet, or would you like to grab something on the way?"
Jungkook shook his head as he pouted. "No, hyung. I haven’t eaten. I was too worried about not being able to reach anyone."
Yoongi nodded. "Alright, we will find a place to eat then. I will take us to a good spot."
Jimin, sitting quietly next to the youngest, gave him a small smile, not wanting the atmosphere to be awkward. "It's good to see you, Jungkook. I hope everything is okay."
Jungkook managed a weak smile in return, his cheeks slightly flushing. "Oh, um, thanks... I hope so too."
As Yoongi started the car and began driving, he kept an eye on the road and occasionally glanced at Jungkook through the rearview mirror.
To say the great Min Yoongi was now anxious would be an understatement.
His mind raced with worst case scenarios.
What if something had happened at Jin's mansion?
What if Jun had caused another real harm?
Yoongi knew the burns on Jin's neck that morning was from cigarettes. It had been troubling him since then.
He knew Jin didn't smoke, so those burns couldn't have been accidental.
Yoongi knew, deep down, that Jun was likely behind it. His grip on the steering wheel tightened as he exhaled hard, trying to push his anger aside.
They soon arrived at the restaurant, a cozy spot with a welcoming atmosphere. Yoongi parked the car and led the two boys inside. They were quickly seated, and the mafia ordered enough food to satisfy the three of them.
While waiting for their food, Yoongi pulled out his phone and dialed his head butler, Lee. "Lee, make sure the maids don't prepare anything for us tonight. I am buying dinner for everyone. Just let them know."
Lee acknowledged the request, and Yoongi hung up, his gaze shifting to the two youngest. Jungkook and Jimin sat awkwardly, their eyes darting in different directions, clearly uncomfortable with each other.
Yoongi couldn't help but chuckle quietly to himself, remembering their last interaction at Jin's mansion.
As the food arrived, they started serving themselves.
Some conversation flowed good as Yoongi tried to keep the boys engaged with a bright mood. Even though both Jimin and Jungkook tried to act normal, their laughter came forced.
They exchanged glances that clearly showed their discomfort, but neither dared to address it directly.
Yoongi observed them with a half-smile. He noted how they made an effort to seem at ease, but the awkwardness between them didn't fade.
Despite his effort to keep the mood light, the tension was still there. He sighed inwardly, hoping that this dinner would help ease the discomfort between them.
---------
After they finished eating, Yoongi called the waiter and placed an order for takeout, making sure to get a generous amount of food for his workers. He paid for the meals and then, with Jungkook and Jimin's help, carried the bags of food out to the car.
He had always made it a point to buy food for everyone in his mansion whenever he ate out, because it was just once in a month, also as a gesture of appreciation for their hard work.
Despite his brutal reputation as a mafia king, he valued those who worked for him and tried to ensure they had some moments of enjoyment as well.
Once everything was loaded, they all headed back to the mansion. The drive was quieter, with Jungkook and Jimin sharing the back seat again.
As they were driving, Jungkook's phone rang, displaying Jin's name. He jumped in his seat with surprise and excitement, quickly turning towards Yoongi. "Yoongi hyung, Yoongi hyung! Jin hyung is calling!" he said, his eyes wide.
Yoongi nodded. "Answer it."
Jungkook swiftly accepted the call and put it on speaker. Jin's soft voice filled the car. "Kook, where are you?" His voice was kind of strained as he tried to hide his pain.
Jungkook replied, "I am heading to Yoongi hyung's mansion along with him. He said I should stay the night there as none of you attended my calls earlier. Is that alright, hyungie?"
"That's fine," Jin responded, relieved to know he wasn't going to stay there. "I am glad Yoongi is taking care of you."
But then the maknae asked with a curious expression. "What about Taetae? I tried calling him too, but he didn't answer. Why is that?"
There was a pause on the other end before Jin spoke again, sounding a bit weary. "Umm, Taehyung is asleep. He was really tired today, so I told him to get some rest."
Jungkook let out a small "oh" and continued pouting.
Jin then asked, "Who else is with you now?"
Jimin's voice joined in. "It's me, hyung."
Jin's tone slightly brightened. "Hi, Jiminie. Could I speak with you for a moment, privately?"
Jimin glanced at Jungkook, who looked at him with the same confusion. The maknae handed him the phone and Jimin took it, turning off the speaker as he put it over his ear. "What's up, hyung?"
Jin's voice was softer and urgent. "Jimin, could you take care of Jungkook tonight and tomorrow? It will be a great help if you could have him stay at Yoongi's mansion for a while. Things are a bit messy here, and I would prefer both Yoongi and Jungkook stay away for now."
Jimin blinked, looking over at Jungkook who was now watching him with a curious expression. "Of course, hyung. But why? What's going on?"
Jin responded, lying slightly, "It's just there are some issues at the mansion. I would rather not have Yoongi or Jungkook around while we sort things out. Also, can you have Yoongi stay there for a couple of days too? I will call him back when everything is settled."
Jimin's brow furrowed, but he accepted with a nod. "Alright. I wil make sure everything's okay and tell you how things are going. You don't worry. Take care of yourself and Taehyung."
Jin's voice softened more. "Thank you, Jimin. I appreciate it. Put the call back on speaker, please."
Jimin complied, and Jin addressed Jungkook directly. "Jungkook, don't cause Jiminie any trouble. And Yoongi, keep me updated. Make sure to eat well. You know exactly what will happen if I get to know from Jimin you aren't eating well. And that goes for Jungkook too."
Yoongi huffed out in disbelief at the babysitter while Jungkook pouted and said, "Okay, take care, hyung. I love you. Tell Tae I miss him so much."
Jin chuckled warmly. "I love you too. And yes, I will tell him. You don't worry. Hyungie's with him."
Lastly, he called out loudly, "Yoongi?"
There was a moment of silence before Yoongi's voice cut through with irritation. "What? Are you done already? Or do you have more to say? I can't focus on the road."
Jin chuckled at the aggressive tone and replied, "Actually, I do have something to tell you."
There was another brief silence before the elder continued, "I love you, Yoongi. Please take care, and don’t get hurt. Call me immediately if anything happens. I will always be available for you. And don't get into any more trouble."
Yoongi rolled his eyes and groaned loudly. "Seriously? Are you treating me like a child? You know who you're talking to, right? It's the great Min Yoongi, remember?"
Jin's laughter was warm and affectionate as the maknaes laughed along with him as well. "Of course, how could I forget my beautiful sub?"
Yoongi groaned again, the flush on his cheeks deepening with embarrassment and annoyance.
Jin's voice softened one last time. "Alright, bye, kids. Take care."
With that, Jin ended the call. Yoongi sighed, shaking his head, while Jimin and Jungkook leaned back on their seat.
Soon, they arrived at Yoongi's mansion, the night air cool and calm. They quickly unloaded the bags of food from the car. The butler met them at the door, his face lighting up with gratitude.
"Thank you, my lord," he said, taking the bags with a respectful bow. "We will make sure everyone gets their share."
Yoongi nodded, watching as Lee carried the food into the kitchen. He then turned to Jimin and Jungkook, "You two should get some rest. It's been a long day. And Jungkook, the guest room next to Jimin's room is all yours. Make yourself comfortable."
Jungkook fidgeted with his fingers, clearly hesitant. "Well, thanks, Yoongi hyung. But…" He glanced at Jimin, who was engrossed in his phone. "Jiminie?"
Jimin looked up, surprise evident on his face at the new name. "Oh... Yes?"
Jungkook's cheeks turned pink. "Well, um...
...is it alright if I could stay the night with you in your room?"
Both the elders' eyes widened at the request .
Jimin's face flushed red while Yoongi's lips slightly turned into a smirk.
'This is going to be a long night for them.' Yoongi thought as he chuckled to himself.
