✧39. Marked For Vengeance✧

Yoongi hesitated, looking at Jin's face.

Could be really do this?

Could he put his pride aside and try to coax Jin by acting cute?

Will it work?

It felt ridiculous, but he was running out of options.

He stood there with his racing mind. The idea of resorting to cute antics like Taehyung has suggested was out of the question. He couldn't bring himself to do those kitten motions-- acting cute was just not his style. But as he looked at Jin's concerned expression, a thought crossed his mind.

May be he could soften his voice, try to plead with him. It wasn't about acting cute, it was about being sincere to the request, and about appealing to Jin's softer side. He inhaled softly and spoke, his voice unusually gentle.

"Seokjin," he began, his tone quiet but softest, "I understand your concern. I really do... But... But this is my responsibility. I need to handle it myself. Just trust me in this."

Jin looked him for a moment, his expression softening slightly. He knew Yoongi well enough to recognise when he was being sincere. Yet, the worry in Jin's face didn't fade.

"Yoongi," he started out softly, "last time, it was dangerous. I can't risk something like that happening again. I need to ensureyour safety no matter what."

Yoongi sighed, knowing Jin's protective nature all too well. He couldn't fault Jin for caring, but he also couldn't back down. He was going to his own mansion, after all.

"I know..." he pleaded. "I just- I promise I will be careful. I won't take any unnecessary risks. But I need to go. It's important."

Jin hesitated as he sighed, looking away from Yoongi's pleading eyes. Silence filled the room for a moment, with Jin being thoughtful and Yoongi waiting for his response. Finally, Jin nodded slowly. "Okay," he murmured, "but promise me. Promise me you'll be cautious."

Yoongi nodded quickly. "I promise," he affirmed, kind of relieved that Jin had finally accepted.

Jin sighed. "Alright," he said, "but I want updates. Keep me informed of everything."

"I will," Yoongi assured him.

With a nod from Jin, Yoongi turned to leave the office. He knew what he had to do now, and he was prepared to face whatever awaited him at his mansion, especially the note was left out for him.

As he walked, Taehyung was waiting in the cafeteria curiously. "Did you convince him?"

Yoongi nodded. "Yeah," he replied, "thanks to your advice."

Taehyung grinned. "See, hyung? Acting cute isn't so bad after all."

But Yoongi shook his head. "Let's not call it that," he said.

Meanwhile, in the office, Jin leaned back in his chair, his fingers rubbing his temples to ease the tension building there. He couldn't shake off the image of Yoongi standing before him, his voice softened in an earnest plea.

"Damn it, Yoongi," he murmured to himself. "You looked too damn cute, even though you did nothing but plead."

He knew better than anyone that Yoongi rarely asked for anything, especially not in such a soft tone. How was he supposed to resist when Yoongi had pleaded with him like that? Jin sighed heavily, his thoughts distracted as he tapped absentmindedly in the desk.

Glancing at the stack of test papers waiting to be graded, he refocused his attention. With a sigh, he picked up the red pen and began working through the students' answers.

As he read through the papers, his mind kept drifting back to his precious sub. And he knew allowing the mafia to handle the situation at his mansion was the right decision.

Jin trusted his capabilities, but that didn't make it any easier to set aside his worries.

He cared for the younger deeply, perhaps more than he should, given their complicated relationship.

Soon, as the evening approached, the campus began to empty as students made their way home. Yoongi and Taehyung walked together to the early bus stop, and once at the stop, they boarded the bus and found seats.

After the ride, they both disembarked. Yoongi headed towards his own mansion while Taehyung made his way to Jin's mansion.

Meanwhile, Jin got off at the next stop, starting the long walk. The streets were quieter now, the evening air cool and refreshing.

A few moments later, his phone vibrated inside his pocket, and he pulled it out to see Yoongi had sent him a quick message about his whereabouts.

Yoongi's reply: "I'm near my mansion and will be there pretty soon."

Jin smiled as he read the message, his worry easing slightly. He typed back, "Be careful and call me anytime if you need something or if anything happens."

Satisfied, he put his phone back in his pocket and started humming a tune, the words coming to him naturally:

"Oh, my cute Yoongi,
His cheeks so squishy...

A playful squish, oh what a treat,
That gummy smile, so sweet, so sweet...

Wanna bop his nose, so round and neat,
A playful bop, oh what a feat..."

He chuckled to himself, imagining Yoongi's reaction to such a song.

"With cheeks to squish and nose to bop,
My love for you will never stop..."

His voice was soft but filled with genuine love as he sang them.

Soon, he reached his mansion. As he reached for the door, a loud thud echoed from inside, followed by the sound of shattering glass. Jin's heart raced, and he quickly entered the mansion.

Inside, the chaos was immediately apparent. His uncle Jun, clearly drunk, was in a rage, grabbing anything within reach and throwing it across the room.

Taehyung was trying his best to dodge the flying objects--

"Stop!" Jin shouted as he hurried towards them. "Uncle Jun, what are you doing?"

Jun turned, his eyes bloodshot and unfocused. "You... you should have been here! But you were out! Enjoying your damn life...!" he slurred, barely able to stand straight due to the over consumption of alcohol.

Jin exhaled out, trying to calm himself down. "Uncle, you need to calm down," he said, moving closer to Taehyung to shield him.

Taehyung, still tense, glanced at Jin with relief. "Hyung, he's been like this since I got here. I tried to calm him down, but..."

Jin nodded. "It's okay, Tae. I'll handle it..."

He stepped forward, reaching out to steady his uncle. "Let's get you to bed, Uncle. You need to rest."

But Jun resisted as he tried to pick up a broken alcohol bottle. Jin immediately pushed his hand back and grabbed the bottle, tossing it a few meters away.

"Uncle, stop! You're going to hurt yourself!" Jin said.

Jun's eyes flickered with anger. "You think you can control me?" he asked. "Where's that kid? That little sub? He's out playing like a child instead of being here, working for a dom like me!"

Jin's patience was wearing thin. "Jungkook is not your concern right now. You need to calm down and get some rest."

But Jun wasn't listening at all. "He's supposed to be here! Everyone is supposed to be here, doing their jobs, not gallivanting around!"

"Uncle, you're out of control! You need to stop this right now!"

The shouting match intensified, each word from Jun more venomous and each retort from Jin more desperate. Taehyung watched, his heart pounding, unsure to intervene.

Jun staggered, pointing a finger at Jin. "You think you're so much better, don't you? Always the perfect one, always in control. But you can't even keep your own household in order!"

Jin's face flushed with anger and hurt. "This isn't about being perfect! It's about keeping everyone safe! Look at yourself, Uncle. You're hurting everyone around you!"

The baldie's anger flared, and without warning, he slapped Jin hard across the ear. Jin fell to the floor with a thud, his head ringing from the blow.

"You disrespectful brats!" Jun shouted with rage. "You need to learn to respect your elders and not shout back!"

Taehyung rushed to Jin's side, panicked. "Hyung, are you okay?!"

Jin's right ear was ringing, and he couldn't hear anything. He hissed in pain, trying to focus. The workers in the mansion stood frozen, wanting to help but too afraid to intervene.

His state was dire as he felt a deep, sharp pain in his ear, and the ringing was so intense it drowned out all other sounds. He could barely hear Taehyung's words as he knelt beside him.

He tried to get up, but it was overwhelming. His vision swam, and he stumbled, his limbs refusing to cooperate.

His uncle's rage-filled voice was distant and distorted. He gritted his teeth, trying to focus through the pain.

Taehyung's eyes were wide with fear as tears streamed down his cheeks. "Hyung, p-please, are you alright..?"

Jin's ear throbbed, each pulse sending a jolt through his skull. He clutched at his head, trying to push through the pain.

Uncle Jun, still drunk and furious, grabbed his walking stick. He raised it high above his head.

Jin immediately shielded Taehyung with his body. The cane came down hard on his back, the sharp pain radiating through his spine. He gasped and hissed with every strike.

"Stop it!" Taehyung shouted. "You're hurting him! Please, stop!"

The strikes continued, each one more brutal than the last. Jin's body ached with each hit, but he refused to move, wanting to protect Taehyung.

"Uncle, please," Jin managed to gasp out between hits. "Please stop!"

But Jun was beyond reason, his anger blinding him to the damage he was causing. The workers could only watch in horror, helpless to stop the assault.

Finally, Taehyung couldn't take it anymore. He tried to get away from Jin's and then lunged forward, grabbing the cane mid swing. "Stop it!" he screamed, his voice breaking. "You're going to kill him!"

Uncle Jun's eyes burned with even more fury as Taehyung grabbed the cane. "You insolent brat!" he shouted.

With a swift, brutal kick in his stomach, Taehyung got knocked the wind out of him. He doubled over in pain, gasping for breath.

But Jun didn't stop there. He raised the cane high and brought it down with all his might, hitting Taehyung square in the face. The force of the blow sent the younger to the floor.

Jin's heart stopped as he watched him fall. "No!"

The uncle raised the cane again and brought it down hard on the back of Taehyung's head. The thud echoed through the room as Taehyung gasped in pain.

"No! Tae!" Jin's voice broke as he watched his brother lose consciousness. He pushed through his pain, his mind focused only on reaching him.

The workers, finally spurred into action by the brutality, rushed forward. They grabbed Jun, pulling him away from the two men. "Sir, please stop!" one of them begged. "You're going to kill them!"

Jun struggled against their hold, his fury still burning hot. "Let me go! They need to learn their place!"

But the workers held firm, dragging him away. Jun's shouts of rage echoed down the hall as they took him to his room, and locked him, leaving Jin and Taehyung on the floor.

Jin finally reached Tae, his hands shaking as he gently turned him over. "Tae... please, wake up..."

"I'm so sorry," he whispered. "I should have protected you better."

The head butler, Chris, rushed into the room after locking Jun. He knelt beside his masters, his eyes widening at the sight of their injuries.

"Sir," he said, his voice worried. "We need to get you both some help. I've already called the doctor."

Jin cradled Taehyung in his arms. "Thank you, Chris," he managed to say.

The minutes felt like hours, but finally, the doctor arrived. He quickly set to work, examining Taehyung first. After a thorough check, he turned to Jin with a nod.

"He's going to be okay," the doctor said. "He doesn't have any severe injuries, but I have treated his head for now. It will hurt, and he might be unconscious for a while. He just needs some rest."

Jin sighed in relief. "Thank you," he murmured.

The doctor then turned his attention to Jin, carefully examining him. "But You've got some serious bruising, Mr. Kim," he said sympathetically. "Your ear is particularly bad, and you'll be in pain for a while. I'm going to treat your injuries now."

Jin nodded as the doctor worked and Chris stood by. Once the doctor finished, he gave Jin a gentle pat on his back, knowing well about the Kim family. "You're both going to be okay," he said. "But you need to take it easy for a while."

Jin thanked him who then packed up his equipment and left. Chris helped his master to his feet, supporting him as they moved to Taehyung's room. Jin gently laid his brother on the bed, pulling the covers over him with trembling hands.

Chris stayed close. "Is there anything else I can do for you, Sir?" he asked softly.

Jin shook his head, his eyes never leaving Taehyung's face. "Just... stay with us," he replied. "I don't want to be alone right now."

Chris nodded, pulling up a chair and sitting by the bed. "I'll be here," he promised.

Jin lied down beside Tae, his heart heavy with regret. He reached out, gently carding his fingers through his fluff hair.

He then closed his eyes, his thoughts still focused on Taehyung. "Please be okay," he murmured. "I will definitely shut him good next time. I swear, I won't let him hurt us anymore."

Meanwhile, at Yoongi's mansion, the mafia had just arrived home. The workers came out to welcome him, their faces lighting up. The butler quickly stepped forward, helping Yoongi take off his shoes and gathering his things to assist him inside.

"Welcome back, sir," the butler said warmly, bowing.

Yoongi exhaled. "It's good to be back," he replied with a smile. "Where's Jimin?"

Just as one of the workers was about to answer, a voice rang out from the top of the stairs. "YOONGI HYUNG!"

Yoongi looked up just in time to see Jimin bounding down the stairs. Before the elder could react, Jimin launched himself at him, wrapping him in a tight hug.

"Hyung, you're home!" Jimin said as his eyes sparkled.

Yoongi chuckled. "Yes, I'm home, Jimin-ah. Did you miss me that much?"

Jimin nodded, pulling back slightly to look at Yoongi. "Of course! It feels like you've been gone forever."

Yoongi smiled, ruffling Jimin's hair affectionately. "Well, I'm here now. How have things been while I was away?" He asked, stepping in with him.

Jimin's face lit up as he began to recount the events. Yoongi listened, a soft smile playing on his lips, feeling the stress of the day slowly melting away in Jimin's presence.

The butler and workers watched them with fond smiles. One of the them slipped away to prepare some tea, knowing that Yoongi would appreciate the gesture.

Jimin, still clinging to his hyung, pouted slightly. "Tae gave me too much work today, hyung. I barely got to finish everything on time, but I did it in the end!"

Yoongi raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Tae's been pushing you hard, huh? What kind of work did he give you?

Jimin sighed dramatically, releasing Yoongi but staying close by his side. "So many reports to review and some files to organize. It felt like a mountain of paperwork. I thought I'd never see the end of it."

Yoongi chuckled, patting his back. "Well, you managed to get through it, didn't you? I'm proud of you."

Jimin's face brightened at the praise. "Thanks, hyung!"

The butler approached, a tray of tea in his hands. "Would you like some tea, Master Yoongi? It might help you relax after your long day."

Yoongi nodded appreciatively. "Yes, that would be great. Thank you."

As they settled in the living room, the butler poured the tea, and Yoongi took a moment to savor the smell. Jimin plopped down next to him, still buzzing with energy.

"So, Jimin-ah," Yoongi began, taking a sip of his tea, "did anything interesting happen today besides all the work?"

Jimin thought for a moment. "Well, there was one thing. Tae tried to teach me some new dance moves during our break. It's was just for fun and hilarious. But then he ended up tripping over his own feet and almost fell into the water fountain!"

Yoongi laughed. "I wish I could've seen that."

He then took another sip of tea, the warmth of the liquid soothing his nerves as he turned to the butler. "Has anyone else intruded into the house?" he asked.

The butler shook his head. "No, my lord. After the incident earlier today, security has been heightened. There have been no further intrusions."

Yoongi nodded. "Do you have the note they left?"

The butler nodded and stepped forward, retrieving a small envelope from his pocket. He handed it to Yoongi with a respectful bow.

Yoongi took it and unfolded the paper while Jimin peaked in. The handwriting was bold and deliberate.

"Congratulations, Yoongi,

Who would've thought you'd be marked as a lowly creature by the government? It's quite a spectacle, seeing the feared top mafia reduced to such a status. How far the mighty have fallen!

Do you still fancy yourself as the top mafia? Oh, what a joke that is now. Perhaps we should settle this with a little competition to see who truly holds that title.

Awaiting your trembling reply,

--Watchdogs"

Yoongi's jaw clenched tight in rising anger as he read the mocking words. He muttered to himself, "Watchdogs, true pathetic dogs they are. They have no idea who they're facing."

"They are just trying to get in your nerves, hyung." Jimin said as he hugged out in anger and folded his arms.

Yoongi exhaled out, his mind racing with plans and calculations. This challenge wouldn't go unanswered. He looked up at the butler.

"Prepare everything," he instructed firmly.

"...We're going to show them exactly who they're dealing with."
