✧37. Unspoken Concern : Marked By Burns✧
The next day... the 12th day...
In his room in Jin's mansion, Yoongi was preparing for the university, his mind preoccupied with thoughts of Jin and the events from the previous day involving the bald oldie. Lost in his thoughts, he absentmindedly reached for the doorknob, only to find Jin opening the door from the other side, greeting him with a warm smile.
"Good morning, Yoongi," Jin said cheerfully.
Yoongi nodded in response, but his gaze immediately drifted to Jin's neck.
Beneath the slight cover of the elder's hair, just below his left ear, were dark reddish marks that looked like... burns?
They stood out starkly against Jin's fair skin and Yoongi couldn't help but feel something big happened.
"What happened there?" He asked, not wanting to sound concerned, but it indeed sounded like that.
Jin tilted his head innocently, as if he hadn't anticipated the question. "What do you mean?"
But then to his surprise, Yoongi's hand quickly moved towards his neck, slipping the hair away, his fingers brushing on the mark. His expression tightened slightly as he examined it. "This mark," he said, his tone worry. "How did you get it?"
Jin's smile faltered slightly before he composed himself into a smile again, lying straight with a shrug. "Oh, it's nothing," he replied casually, trying to downplay it. "Just a minor accident while cooking late last night. Nothing to worry about."
Yoongi arched an eyebrow skeptically. "Are you sure..? It looks pretty bad..."
Jin chuckled softly. "It's really okay. Just a small mishap. I've had worse."
As he spoke, he leaned in close to Yoongi's hand, suddenly pulling the mafia closer, gripping his hand and making it cup his face while the younger still stared at him in disbelief, not believing anything he said. Yoongi knew something had happened, but Jin didn't seem like he wanted to talk about it.
Jin held his gaze, his lips curved into a warm smile. "You worry too much, Yoongi. I'm fine, really." He said, leaning his face more into the hand that was cupping his jaw. "But you're cute when you worry, you know that?" he teased.
Yoongi glared at him, trying to ignore the warmth spreading across his cheeks. "What?" He spat out.
Before he could say anything further, Jin pressed a kiss to the palm of younger's hand, and then he lightly sucked at the area. Yoongi's face flushed instantly as he withdrew his hand with a startled gasp, caught off guard by the elder's unexpected boldness.
He groaned in annoyance, saying, "Idiot! Stupid! Psychopath!" And many more, whatever else came to mind.
Jin chuckled fondly, his eyes softening. He then slowly moved forward, and Yoongi instinctively moved backward, his steps light. Jin stood in front of him, slightly lowering himself to Yoongi's height, taking a close look at his sub's face.
Yoongi blinked, unsure of what Jin was doing. Then, Jin's right hand that was bandaged tight from yesterday's accident, slowly rose and touched Yoongi's left cheek, making the younger's breath get caught.
Yoongi struggled to pull away from the sudden closeness. He wanted to move back, but his legs wouldn't cooperate. He wanted to stop his heart from racing, but he couldn't. He wanted to breathe, but the air seemed stuck in his chest. His heartbeat quickened more as Jin's hand brushed away a few strands of his bangs.
Yoongi's eyes widened, his breath hitching even more. "W-what are you doing?" he stammered.
Jin's smile was gentle, his touch soft. "Just making sure you're okay," he whispered, his voice soothing.
Yoongi's heart pounded, and he found himself frozen, unable to move or speak.
Jin then exhaled softly to himself as he saw that cut Yoongi got from the college fight, now leaving a light scar on his forehead. It was hidden neatly by his bangs, but still, Jin didn't like how that bastard senior had hurt his Yoongi.
He glanced at the scar one last time before ruffling Yoongi's hair. "Come on, let's eat, and then we'll head to the college," he said and walked out of the room, leaving Yoongi standing there, still frozen, his face completely red.
The mafia cursed to himself as he moved his hand over his chest, feeling his quick heartbeat. He was annoyed at himself for panicking just because Jin had been a little closer. He tried to calm himself by taking deep breaths.
"It was nothing," he muttered to himself. "I... I can't just get excited over something so trivial.." He said with a final sigh and made his way to the dining room, following Jin.
They entered the room where the maknaes were already seated, eagerly devouring their breakfast. They looked like kids hungry for food, their cheeks puffed out as they stuffed themselves. Surprisingly, Yoongi found the sight cute and muttered "cute" to himself.
He then seated himself beside Jin. Jungkook looked up, his mouth full of food, and mumbled a greeting, while Taehyung waved with a piece of toast in his hand. "Good morning, Yoongi-hyung."
Yoongi gave a nod in response, his mind still half-occupied. He then looked around the room, his eyes scanning every corner before settling back on Jin. "Where's that baldie at?"
Jungkook choked on his water, coughing hard at the words as Taehyung immediately stopped eating and patted his sub's back.
Jin exhaled softly, irritation flickering in his eyes. "He is still sleeping," he replied. "We better head to college before he wakes up," he said as he tried to pick up his chopsticks with his bandaged right hand, but the effort was clumsy and awkward.
Yoongi watched, his eyes fixed on Jin's injured hand as he struggled. The sight tugged at him, making him want to reach out and help, but he shook his head, trying to focus on his own breakfast instead. With a quiet sigh, he managed to pull his gaze away and start eating.
Once breakfast was over, Jin turned to Jungkook. "Kook, since we three won't be here and uncle Jun is here, you can go out anywhere if you want today. I don't want a repeat of last time."
Jungkook nodded, his eyes wide and a little worried. "Got it, hyung. Thank you."
Then, the three of them headed out. As they walked to the bus stop, Yoongi kept a close eye on Jin's injuries, still thinking about them while Jin did his best to act normal, his thoughts still swirling with the late night events that happened with his uncle.
He then caught the eyes of Yoongi staring and smiled at him. The mafia felt his heart skip a beat again, but he quickly looked away, focusing on the road ahead.
After a while, they arrived at the college on time. Both Yoongi and Taehyung headed to their respective classes while Jin made his way to the professor's office.
But in the classroom, there was a buzz of gossip and a sense of commotion among the students. Yoongi and Taehyung took their seats, exchanging glances.
Yoongi gave the younger a slight nod, signaling him to find out what was going on. Taehyung nodded at him, leaning over to one of the students nearby and asked, "Hey, what's all this about? Did something happen?"
The student hesitated, glancing around nervously before leaning in closer. Yoongi and Taehyung mirrored his action, leaning in to hear better. The student then whispered, "Well, it's just that, um, just like the rumors of students going missing last year,
...three of our classmates went missing last night."
Yoongi's expression turned serious while Tae's eyes widened slightly, his eyes instantly looking at Yoongi with concern.
