✧35. Test Of Patience : Silence Before The Storm✧
Taehyung and Jungkook exchanged a quick glance before heading to their shared room. Jin then motioned for Yoongi to follow him and without a word, he began ascending the stairs.
Yoongi exhaled softly, still frustrated but he followed Jin nonetheless.
As they entered the room, the elder locked the door behind them and let out a sigh as he faced Yoongi.
"I'm really sorry you had to witness all that, Yoongi," Jin said quietly. "And I'm even more sorry you had to endure those insults."
Yoongi just stood there, still looking at him with an unreadable expression.
Jin sighed, rubbing his temples. "However, you shouldn't talk to my uncle like that. You need to be careful with your words."
Yoongi glared back at him. "Why can't I? He's the one who started picking on me, saying I need discipline when that fucker is the one who should be in jail."
Jin sighed again. "Alright, alright. You might be right about that, but still, you should be careful around him. Try not to get into any trouble with him."
Yoongi scoffed, taking a seat on Jin's bed. "I'll kill that man next time," he muttered darkly.
Jin sat next to him. "I did see how you were going to do that. That dagger earlier, I saw that. Whatever my uncle does, you shouldn't harm him."
Yoongi felt his frustration bubbling up. "Why not? He's a menace. He deserves it."
"Even if he does, you shouldn't harm him." Jin said.
Yoongi glared at him. But then his gaze shifted to his cheek, still red from the slap. He stared at it for a while, his hand slightly moving to touch the bruised skin, but he pulled it back at the last moment.
"You told me he was only abusive a few times," he said, his voice now full of annoyance.
Jin looked confused for a moment. "What?"
Yoongi continued, his irritation growing. "You said your uncle was abusive only a few times, not all the time. But now it feels different. That's not the case, is it?"
Jin sighed deeply, running a hand through his hair. "You don't have to worry about him. I can handle it on my own."
Yoongi scoffed, crossing his arms. "Clearly, anyone can say that it's not working out too well."
Jin rubbed his temples, looking exhausted. "I know, I know, Yoongi. But confronting him directly like that won't help either."
"So, you are just going to keep taking his crap?"
"No," Jin said, shaking his head. "I will find a way to deal with him. But You have to be careful. Try to avoid getting in trouble with him."
Yoongi huffed, clearly not convinced. "Easier said than done. That guy seems to have a knack for getting under my skin."
"I know," Jin admitted. "But the less interaction, the better. We need to avoid escalating things."
Yoongi rolled his eyes. "Yeah, well, if he steps out of line again, I'm not making any promises."
"Just... don't let anger cloud yo-"
Then suddenly, his uncle's voice rang out of the room. Jin quickly got up and went to see what's happening while Yoongi hesitated a bit before slowly following him.
The scene in the kitchen was chaotic. The floor was covered in thrown food and a maid was cowering in the corner, her body trembling as Uncle Jun lashed out at her.
Jin hurried over with concern. "What's wrong, Uncle Jun?"
Jun turned his anger toward Jin, his face red with fury. "This incompetent maid! She doesn't even know how to cook! How can you keep such useless staff in this house?"
Jin tried to calm the situation. "I'm sorry, Uncle. We'll make sure it doesn't happen again. Please, let's not make a scene."
From his vantage point on the stairs, Yoongi watched the drama in disbelief. He could see the fear in the maid's eyes as her body trembled more.
Uncle Jun wasn't going to let it go. "Not make a scene? This is unacceptable, Seokjin! You need to take control of your household!" He pointed at the maid. "Get rid of her! She's worthless!"
Jin took a deep breath. "I'll handle it, Uncle. Please, go back to your ro-"
Jun lashed out at him, his voice rising even higher. "You don't even know how to find good maids and workers for this mansion! You're useless, Seokjin! Absolutely useless!"
Jin flinched slightly. "Uncle Jun, please. I'll handle it. Let's not escalate this further."
The maid continued to tremble in the corner, her eyes filled with tears.
Jun glared at them both once more before storming out of the kitchen, muttering under his breath.
Jin turned to the maid, smiling lightly as he whispered, "It's okay. You're not going anywhere. Let's just clean this up and I will let you go earlier today. I am sorry he lashed out on you like that."
Yoongi stood by, his anger increasing as Jin was the one who seem to take all the blame in the end.

At dinner, everyone was present, including Taehyung and Jungkook. They were all waiting for Jun to arrive. Despite the delicious aroma of the food, the atmosphere was tense as heavy silence filled the table.
After half an hour, Jun finally appeared. As soon as he entered, Jin and the two maknaes stood up out of respect.
Yoongi, however, remained seated, leaning back in his chair and checking his nails, as if he hadn't even noticed Jun's arrival.
Jin, noticing him, lightly tapped his cheek. Yoongi glared at the elder who signaled for him to stand up. With a huff, Yoongi reluctantly complied.
Once Jun had seated himself at the head of the table, everyone else took their seats. Jin and Yoongi sat on Jun's right, while Taehyung and Jungkook sat on his left.
Dinner went on with an uncomfortable silence, the only sounds being the clinking of utensils.
Yoongi continued to eat in silence, remembering Jin's earlier warning. Taehyung and Jungkook exchanged glances, trying to make themselves as small as possible to avoid drawing Jun's ire.
As the meal progressed, Jun's irritation bubbled up. He suddenly slammed his fork down, causing everyone to jump slightly. "Seokjin, what is this? The food is barely acceptable and the drink is even worse."
Jin's expression tightened, but he forced a smile. "I'm sorry, Uncle. I'll speak to the staff and make sure everything is up to your standards next time."
Jun's eyes scanned the table, landing on Yoongi. "And this one," he said, gesturing at him. "What a useless addition. Doesn't even know how to show respect earlier. Just like the last one you had."
Yoongi exhaled out, but remained silent, his eyes fixed on his plate.
Jin quickly interjected, "Uncle, please. Yoongi is still new and learning."
Jun's glare deepened. "You'd better make sure of that, Seokjin. Because if he doesn't, you'll both regret it."
Yoongi tried to remain silent, knowing that any outburst could make things worse, for Jin ofcourse.
But Jun continued to pick on him. "Tell me, boy," he began, leaning forward slightly. "Are you even a decent sub, or was Seokjin simply blinded by your pretty face when he bought you?"
Yoongi clenched his jaw tighter, his knuckles white as he gripped his fork, but he remained silent, staring down at his plate.
"Look at him," Jun scoffed. "Just sitting there, thinking his looks will get him through everything. Pathetic. I bet you don't even have a decent education, do you, boy? What do you know, besides being an eye candy?"
Yoongi breathed out slowly, calming himself down as he could feel Jin's worried gaze on him.
"And what's with that hair?" Jun continued, his voice mocking. "Trying to look stylish, are we? Well, you look ridiculous! A proper sub should know how to present himself with dignity, not like some street urchin."
Every insult felt like a punch for Yoongi, but he remembered Jin's words, telling him to avoid confrontation. He swallowed his pride and kept his mouth shut, though it took every ounce of his self-control not to lash out and kill that bastard.
Jin, sensing Yoongi's anger, tried to change the conversation. "Uncle Jun, let's just enjoy the meal. Yoongi is still adapting."
Jun's eyes narrowed. "He'd better, Seokjin. If not, I don't see why you would keep him around. Beauty fades and then what will he have? Nothing."
The room fell silent again. Taehyung and Jungkook sat in uncomfortable silence, their eyes downcast, hoping to avoid Jun's attention.
Jun then continued to eat, the sound of his fork and knife scraping against the plate.
Jin then slowly leaned over to Yoongi and whispered, "I'm sorry."
Yoongi looked at him with his eyes still burning with frustration, but he just nodded a bit. Jin gave him a small smile before turning his attention back to Jun who was about to start picking on Yoongi again.
"So, Uncle," he began, "how was your travel? Did everything go smoothly?"
Jun glanced up, still chewing. He swallowed and then grunted, "Long and tiresome, as usual."
Jin nodded, trying to keep the conversation light. "I'm glad you made it safely."
Jun shook his head, his expression still sour. "I had a little trouble. Just the usual incompetence of people these days. Takes forever to get anything done."
The maknaes remained silent, their eyes focused on their plates, not daring to interrupt the peace that Jin was trying to maintain while Yoongi forced himself to take a few bites of his food, hoping it might help calm him down.
Jin continued to ask questions about his journey, doing his best to keep the conversation away from Yoongi and anything that might trigger another outburst from his uncle. "Did you get a chance to see any interesting places on your way here?"
Jun snorted. "No time for that. Too busy making sure everything's in order. You know how it is."
Jin nodded, still looking anxious that his uncle will say something more to his Yoongi.
They all resumed eating, but it wasn't long before Jun's gaze turned back to Yoongi again. "So, boy," he began, "what about your parents? Did they even bother to teach you any manners?"
Yoongi's grip again tightened around his fork. Jin immediately interfered. "Uncle Jun, let's focus on the mea-"
But Jun wasn't ready to do that. "No, no, Jin. I think it's important we know what kind of upbringing this boy had. Clearly, he lacks basic respect. Makes me wonder about the kind of parents he had."
The maknaes exchanged anxious glances. Taehyung's hand subtly reached for Jungkook's under the table, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
Yoongi, despite his anger, kept his head down and continued eating, his face a mask of controlled emotion.
Jin sighed, his patience wearing thin. "Uncle, this isn't the time or place for this. Yoongi is my sub and his past is none of your concern."
Jun smirked. "Ah, so you're protecting your sub, are you? Just like you always did with the other one. Well, let me tell you, Jin, being soft on him will only make both of you weaker."
Jin's jaw tightened, but he held his ground. "I can understand your opinion. But let's leave it at th-"
Jun raised his voice suddenly. "Why are you taking that useless kid's side now? It's not like his parents raised him well or something. I'm just telling the truth! In fact, their parents are the ones to blame for giving birth to such a disobedient child who doesn't even know how to be a proper sub! They are the ones who are useless!"
And that was it.
Yoongi couldn't take it any longer. He stood up abruptly, the force sending his chair crashing to the floor behind him. His hand reached for the knife on the table, his eyes full of fury.
In one swift motion, he aimed the knife straight at Jun's eyes.
"Hyung, no!" Taehyung shouted while Jungkook looked shocked.
But there was nothing anyone could have done before blood started to trickle down from the knife Yoongi held onto.
But Yoongi's eyes widened at the sight infront of him. He wasn't about to stab the knife into that person.
The thick reddish blood..
..trickled down from Jin's palm as he stood in between Yoongi and his uncle, his hand holding the sharp edge of the knife as it cut deep into his palm.
