Adelaide

"And why's that?" He questioned, leaning forward a little, wanting to catch everything she said.
Her eyes shifted around the room, meeting each of us with a venomous glint.
"Because he's my father."
---
Only silence followed her bold statement, letting it sink in that we had just been talking about her for the past half hour.
She was the daughter.
Jamie cleared his throat, "it's not my decision, ultimately it's Adelaide's."
Her eyes slid to mine and I returned her hard gaze with my own. Why would she want to kill her father?
What was with this group and killing parents?
From the look in her eyes, I knew that she wasn't going to give this up or let this go, she was determined to be the one to do it and who am I to get in between family politics?
"Okay."
I handed her a small nod and she returned it, not letting her gaze falter in the slightest.
Her eyes shifted to Romano's dark figure splayed in the armchair across from us where they had an intense stare-off, not unlike ours, for a minute before he spoke.
"Okay."
He probably felt for her situation, he had killed his own parents by any standard.
Jamie looked between the three of us, bewildered by what had just taken place.
"Uh, okay." He hesitantly agreed, turning back to his computer.
Jaekyung settled back into her seat with a venomous look upon her face as Jamie launched into the logistics of the plan, pointing out what would happen and who would do what.
We all knew that there was a lot of pressure on this kill and I was glad for once that I didn't have to shoulder it, knowing that it didn't go down well the past two times.
I had time to focus my plans elsewhere and it was high time to put them into action.
As the meeting started to wrap up for lunch, I reached out for Jamie before he could make an escape, dragging him to a secluded area.
"Jamie, I need a favour."
His eyebrows rose in suspicion as he adjusted his bag on his back.
"Depends on the favour."
"I need to look over the list of people that were at that party," I told him, desperately hoping that he wouldn't ask why or prod too far.
For a few heart-wrenching moments his narrowed eyes bore through mine before resigning.
"I'll get them to you by the end of the day."
I let my breath go and turned to leave but he caught my shoulder before I could fully turn away.
"What do I get in return?" he asked, a mischievous glint in his eye.
I sighed, there was always a catch.
"You won't end up in a ditch." I said unblinkingly, not being able to keep the threat out of my voice.
He chuckled, "always one for threats."
I tore my shoulder out of his grasp and took a step backwards, only for him to close the distance a second time.
His eyes locked onto mine as he leaned forward, bringing his mouth down to my ear, making my breath catch.
"In return for my work, I want a favour, to be cashed in any time in the future."
He took a step back, and my rapidly beating heart was given some reprise.
I held his gaze, unwavering and striong before I let a sigh pass through my lips.
"Deal."
He grinned, leaving me in the hallway without another word and made his way to Jaekyung who was most likely in the kitchen.
I'll find you soon, Silver.
I stayed in the empty hallway for a few more minutes, making sure that there was sufficient time between Jamie's departure and mine.
When I felt that enough time had elapsed, I pushed myself off the wall to find my next victim.
My lips curled up into a wicked smile, I was a woman on a mission.
It didn't take me long to find him, he was exactly where I thought he would be, his study.
"Salve, tata." I greeted him, not bothering to knock on the door and opting to barge in, sitting on the plush chair in front of his desk.
(Translation: Hello, daddy)
His dark eyes met mine, surprise and intrigue mixing there.
"Will you tell me what that means, carota?"
My smile grew a little.
The day he found out that he could use google translate would be a fun one.
"Never, tata."
He sighed and leaned back, huffing in mock frustration but even he couldn't hide the small upturn of the corners of his lips.
"So, stella, are you here to just tease me or do you need something else?"
I nodded slightly at his question, my lips faltering as I remembered what I was here for.
"It's not that I need something per se," I paused for a moment, "it's a concern I have regarding the last two missions."
His eyebrows lifted as he studied me from across the table, abruptly taking on a serious attitude.
He gestured to keep talking.
"I believe there is a mole in our ranks," I stated, keeping my eyes locked onto his, trying to register any sort of change but gave up after I couldn't find any.
He slowly leaned forward, resting his forearms on the desk in front of him, closing the space between us as much as he could before speaking with an air of professionalism.
"What makes you say that?"
I kept my gaze on him as I mirrored his actions, leaning forward as much as I could with the massive desk in the way.
"Complications arose in both of them, forcing me to go out of my way to finish the job. Someone's working against us." I said, being careful not to let any emotion past.
"I have many enemies, lattuga, what makes you think it's an inside job?"
( Translation: Lettuce )
I rolled my eyes at his next nickname. Lettuce? Really? Could this guy not be serious for five minutes?
I tore myself away from him and collapsed on the chair, making sure to glare at him, earning a self-satisfied smirk in response.
"Well, tata," I commented, "I know that it's an inside job because they would have to have had direct contact with the earpiece used in the last mission."
He slowly reclined into his chair, contemplating the possibilities with a permanent and infuriating smirk plastered on his face.
"I suppose you are correct, carota." He said more to himself than to me, his head bobbing up and down in silent agreement.
His eyes snapped to mine.
"I assume you already have a plan?" He asked, a glint in his eyes.
I gave him a half-smile as I carefully studied his features.
This was it, my last chance to back out and leave him behind, never to be brought up again. I knew I could do it myself, I could find the mole.
The thing was that I didn't want to do it by myself, I wanted an ally.
Asking for a little help couldn't be too bad, could it?
"Of course," I affirmed, watching as his face lit up at the possibilities I could offer.
Maybe I could trust him after all.
