C༵H༵A༵P༵T༵E༵R༵ 10
I followed Kyle; but from behind. I didn't want him to get caught. Or me. Mostly me.
I hope my dad is still alive after all of these years. Maybe he has been turned into a Keeper...no. He wouldn't change himself for anybody. Not even a job.
Kyle stopped to talk to some fellow Keepers. This was my chance to catch my breath and eat. We had been walking for three hours without break, and we weren't even at the Fence yet. I couldn't afford to stop walking and risk loosing sight of Kyle; he was my only ticket into the Advanced to see my father again.
I opened the packet of dried beef jerky. I smiled. Austin added in my favorite herbs that make it taste better. I started eating and looked around. We were in the middle of no where, all of it was just dust and rocks. And the occasional bush.
Finally we started movie again.
Four hours later, we were at the Fence. Night had come, and Kyle set up the tent. I got half and he got half. He built a fire and started to heat up more jerky and some water. We drank the hot water in silence and shared the jerky. I went behind some trees to a river and took a little "bath". I put my white dress back on either my only pair of socks and was about to get into the tent when I heard Kyle say:
"Good night, Alex." He was still sitting in the ground drinking his hot water. His uniform was on, and his face was illuminated by the flames. I said nothing, just nodded politely back and crawled into the tent.
I laid down and feel asleep the second my head hit the pillow.
