Chapter 13: ASH POV

Jace was going to kill me. He may have never killed anyone, but I would be his first victim. He was either going to behead me or stab me repeatedly. It was not going to be pretty.

I took The Phantom's regular girl away from him. He was in a bidding war with me, and I made that bold move to double the bet. There was no way that he was going to tell us anything about Diablo's Heart now.

I put my hands on Gracelynn's hips, and I struggled not to grab her ass. I wanted to stay in this room with her for hours, but if I had any chance of getting Diablo's Heart, I knew what I had to do.

"Bring me to him," I said.

Gracelynn furrowed her brows. Her red-painted lips parted slightly. God, I wanted to kiss them.

"Excuse me?" she asked.

"I need you to bring me to The Phantom," I said. "I need to talk to him."

"About what?"

"He knows about something I need to know."

Gracelynn smiled and cocked her head to the side.

"What is it?" she asked.

"This is something you don't need to know," I said.

"I won't take you to Simon unless you tell. Trust me, he'll be fuming. He won't want to talk to you."

I groaned and ran my fingers through my hair. The longer we stayed here, the more I lost my chance at knowing about Diablo's Heart. Gracelynn continued to watch me with a glint of curiosity in her eye. She was my key to The Phantom.

"He knows about a gem that I want," I said.

Her smile grew wider.

"What kind of gem?" she asked.

"I don't know much about it," I said. "I just know it is worth a lot."

Gracelynn chewed on her bottom lip for a moment. Was she not going to take me to The Phantom? She was quiet. The music was pounding from deeper in the club as another girl must be on the stage. She was not looking at me as she appeared deep in thought. I ran my hands up to her side and brought her back to reality.

"I want to help," she said.

"Excuse me?" I asked.

I raised a brow. That was not what I expected her to say. She wasn't the good Christian girl that I thought she was, but she was not a thief. I doubted she had ever stolen anything.

"No," I said. "This isn't for you."

"Not for me?" She put her hand on my chest. "Why would it not be for me?"

"Because you're a good girl."

Gracelynn's smile turned into a smirk. She dragged her fingers up to my shoulder. She arched her back as she leaned forward to push her breasts against my chest. My breath caught in my throat when I got a smell of her sweet perfume.

Her warm body was pressed against me. She brought her lips close to my ear. She let out a little giggle.

"I'm a good girl?" she asked. "What makes you think that?"

Before I could answer, Gracelynn pulled away. She held out her hand and a silver watch dangled from her fingers. My jaw dropped when I saw the ring of blue that was around the face. I looked down at my wrist to see that it was bare.

"Is this yours?" she asked before winking.

She climbed off my lap. I grabbed the watch from her and fastened it back around my wrist. No one has ever stolen from me before. I took a deep breath, trying to fix the fact that I was hard from having her gorgeous body on top of mine.

"You want Simon?" she asked. "Only if I can help you steal this expensive gem."

"Bring him in, and we'll discuss it," I said.

"I'll take that as a yes."

I stood and followed Gracelynn outside the room. She turned and put her hand on my chest. She shook her head.

"Let me go by myself," she said. "Wait here."

"Fine."

Gracelynn turned and walked into the club. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and texted Jace to come to the back. Less than a minute passed, and Jace was walking toward me. He was scowling. If he were a cartoon character, steam would be coming out of his ears.

"Are you serious?" he asked in a harsh whisper. "You just blew this whole thing."

"She's going to get The Phantom," I said. "We're all going to talk."

"All of us?"

"Yes, I'm thinking we recruit Gracelynn for this."

Jace scoffed and rolled his eyes.

"I'm not having us get caught because you want to get your dick sucked," he said.

I opened my mouth to speak, but Gracelynn walked into the back. She was holding The Phantom's arm, and it looked like she was dragging him down the hall. He glared at me as Gracelynn pulled him into the room.

The Phantom sat down on the couch. Gracelynn sat so that she was on his lap. The Phantom's hands trailed down her thighs and my hands clenched into fists.

I paid fifty grand for this, and he's the one to get to touch her? Was Diablo's Heart even worth it? Should I kick him out of this room?

Jace was speaking before I said something that I would regret.

"We're so sorry about what happened with Emerald," he said. "Ash didn't know that it was you that wanted her."

"It's been nearly a year since I have been outbid," The Phantom said. "I wasn't happy, boys."

"And Ash wants to apologize for that." Jace turned his attention to me. "Don't you, Ash?"

I struggled to breathe while I watched The Phantom's hands slide up and down Gracelynn's thighs. She was unphased by his touch and was staring at me with those big bright green eyes. I gritted my teeth as I imagined what The Phantom must do to her body.

Just keep thinking about Diablo's Heart, I reminded myself.

"Yes," I muttered. "I'm sorry."

The Phantom smiled. He moved his hands to Gracelynn's hips. I was surprised he wasn't grabbing her ass and assaulting her in front of us.

"Well, much appreciated," he said. "Why did you bring me back here, boys?"

"We're looking for the Diablo's Heart," Jace said. "Rumour is that you know about it."

The Phantom chuckled and shook his head.

"You don't want the Diablo's Heart," he said. "It's a death sentence."

"We want it," Jace said.

"So young and naive," he said. "You really want to know?"

"Just tell us," I snapped.

I hated being taunted like this. It hurt even more with him having Gracelynn on his lap. Jace glared at me. I was a silent message to shut the fuck up.

"What's in it for me?" The Phantom asked. "You've given Emerald back to me, but we will be spending all of our time discussing that godforsaken gem."

"We'll give you a cut," Jace said.

"I want twenty million."

I laughed and shook my head.

Twenty million? There is no way that he will get the majority of the profit just because he has information.

"Not happening," I said.

Jace put his hand on my shoulder.

"How much is Diablo's Heart worth?" he asked.

"Approximately half a billion," The Phantom said.

Gracelynn's eyes went wide. She rolled her head back to whisper something in his ear. He turned his head, and for a moment, I thought that they were going to kiss. I was going to rip her off him, but he leaned back and nodded.

"Five hundred million?" Jace asked. "How is that possible?"

"It's a myth to some," The Phantom said. "But word is getting out about it. It's probably the most expensive gem currently. Any collector would love to have it."

"So you will tell us about it?"

"Yes, and only because if you don't give me my cut, I will have you both killed. I have heard about the two of you."

"You have heard about us?"

"Yes, I have. Jace Anderson and Asthore Gallagher."

It had been so long since I heard anyone say my full name. How does he know it? No one knows it.

"The Diablo's Heart is located in the Vatican Apolostic Archives," The Phantom said. "It is one of the most guarded places in the world. It's a Carbonado, a black diamond, on a twenty-four karat gold chain."

"How do we get into the Archives?" Jace asked.

"I am not the man that can answer that question," The Phantom said. "Go to Lorenzo Ricci."

I closed my eyes and sighed. At least we had a location now, but that location just cost us twenty million dollars and Gracelynn. I wished that he could have at least given us a little more info. I had no clue who this man was. Lorenzo Ricci was a name I had never heard.

"Thank you," The Phantom said. "Now, I would like some time with Emerald."

"Thank you for your information," Jace said.

"Good night, boys."

Jace grabbed my arm and pulled me out of the room. I looked into Gracelynn's eyes for as long as I could. She watched me with a faint smile.

I prayed she did not block my number. If she did, I would come back to this terrible club.
